Just discovered this game last night and have been enjoying watching your playthrough during my downtime. I appreciate that even though you have experience with the game that you're explaining certain aspects as they're relevant (ie crop rotation). Looking forward to watching through the rest over time, and to probably picking the game up myself soon too!

Hope your doing good. I know how much many people dislike panning in games. You might like it a little more if you try doing so using bone soil. The name of the block should be changed along with texture. Think of bone soil as area people would leave belonging, in wicker basket of hanging on a wall, etc. Over time dirt, and items that degrade in those spots. I get the creators where thinking kind of in mind of archology site, dig small spot and shift. In this case bonie (bone.. ) soil. I am just glade the creators are not requiring of us to use, paint brushes, tooth bushes, and other tools for excavation of block.

IIRC it was originally implemented as a "last resort" in case you couldn't find any surface copper. As annoying as it is, I'm actually glad they implemented it since it means you can still advance to the copper age even if you're unlucky with the world gen.
@gigglingsociopathh2911 Жыл бұрын
@@GGBeyond wow, I just got your message. It's funny, there so many times, you will pause when coming across bony soil. It's a stern glare in my mind.. like saying. No.. I'm not panning. Can't make me. Lol.

Bears are great source for leathers, yet hard to acquire without giving your own skin to the bear 😂. Panning is ok but actually you need either one surface copper or 60 bits to make the prospecting pick.
@slarzyer Жыл бұрын
one surface copper deposit may often not be enough for an anvil..2-3 are normally required...even with 2-3 you do not have much left to maintain any renewable copper needs... but panning also yields silver and gold usable to make black bronze from the start.....

Glad to see you are back to this series. Love your content! Question: Since there are fish in the game, is there a fishing mechanic or do they expect you to jump in there and chase them with a pointy stick?
@GGBeyond Жыл бұрын
There might be a fishing rod being added later, but this might just be a "first pass" on water creatures.
@bobstaples1735 Жыл бұрын
@@GGBeyond Hope it isn't too grindy as a mechanic, especially if fish isn't the best sustenance
@slarzyer Жыл бұрын
atm i believe the fish are just there to add a simple "spear fishing" way to get a bit of starter food.... if you find a small water source that is not near alot of other water....many fish often will there...digging a trench or pit can be a simple way to trap the fish and auto kill them...just visit it from time to time and harvest the drops

I find myself always yelling at people who do these sorts of lets plays. Like... when you were doing molds... you kept skipping over the most important ones for metalworking, the crucibles, without them the rest are useless.... Also, the drifters have been crawling since at least 1.16, maybe as early as 1.15. Just surprised you hadn't experienced that till now.
@creepersjeepers8656 Жыл бұрын

@GGBeyond Жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter what order I do the clay products in since they're not usable until they're fired in the pit kilns anyway. The drifters started crawling in 1.17. You can confirm that in my 1.16 permadeath playthrough as well as in the patch notes.

what? only a single year? well, let's see how far you can get. I started about the same time, with 3 friends, it's now mid march, and we decided to move base, but we're well into the iron age. how come you only want to play one year? you like the early game?
@GGBeyond Жыл бұрын
One in-game year is roughly 180 parts. In that time, I have steel tools, 2 generations of animals, and stone paths connecting my base to nearby traders completely lit with lanterns. The only thing I don't have is anything that takes more than one year like a fruit orchard and alcohol.
