Yep that's the thing about boot camp. Especially the first time you take a shower in training. You are standing there naked with a bunch of other dudes. Then you are waiting for the DI to come and tell you how to shower. The DI tells you what to wash and how long to lather your rag. It get to be no big deal. Then when we would do a PT shower (which is a super fast shower after PT). The DI would send a recruit to the rain room to turn on all the shower heads that are facing the walls of the rain room. Then we would run through all the shower head while scrubbing off the grime and dirt as best we can within the few seconds of water we get. Problem is that the recruit is in such a hurry, that he doesn't bother with the water temperature of the showers. So you never know which shower head is going to be super cold or scalding hot. Then on top of that you don't get totally clean.
@Guitarnivore8 жыл бұрын
I remember one PT shower consisting of one DI with a sink faucet on, splashing water on us as we ran by. We were running late for something for some reason. I don't recall the showers being called the rain room, or my DI's ever telling us how to shower, but I do remember the scalding surprise of the pt showers.

Weirdest thing i did at bootcamp was when i had to get IT'd by an Army Drill Sergeant. They came to Parris Island to learn from the DIs how to instill discipline in recruits. All he made me do was do 20 pushups when i didn't scream "Aye Drill Sergeant". It was so weird because i was so used saying Aye Sir and plus he was just talking to me. It was a relaxing IT lol. Then my DI got tired of it and pushed the Drill Sergeant away started IT df out of me and i started to fucking puke all over the quarter deck and the Drill Sergeant was like 😮😮😮😮

Isaac Belkhodja drill sergeants lack the "passion" DIs have.. its almost like.. DIs are soo fuckin passionate about their job.. they dont mind ITing you for an hour or two until you fuckin puke, they dont mind losing their voice, having a severe fucking brain aneurism while yelling until their lungs burst, iv heard of DIs that have walked away for a second, THROWN UP, then went back to the ITing, DI's that have almost passed out DIs that have walked away and have had to go to the ER, imagine.. they are with you throughout the entire 3 months they dont go home and see their family, they are with you, building you into a marine.. they will go a day or two with no food.. over 36 hours without sleep.. and you WILL NOT notice a difference in their character and they will continue to yell and completely freakout as if they were fresh off a nap at grandmas and a 5 star meal.. its this extreme psychotic loyalt that seperates a marine corps DI from any other branch drill sergeant or drill instructor.. they have an extreme fanatical passion to uphold and teach recruits an undying tradition of insane discipline and loyalty to follow orders.. they will break you and rebuild you into a fearless warrior and they wont EVER give up on you even if you have given up on yourself.. they will be by yourside for the entire 3 months, and nuture your transformation.. yelling and barking orders until your body goes numb from the pain.. yelling until you reach your breaking point and finally break you.. exposing all your weaknesses like a nerve and pick at it like a scab until you go near batshit crazy.. then once you feel like you cant handle everything and you choose to finally give up.. something will click inside and you will understand what has happened, the tradition that each man who has held an eagle globe and anchor stands and fights for.. the country and its people that you will serve until possible death.. and you will become motivated.. your motivation will shine and propel you forward as the DIs nuture your newfound growth and will mold you into the worlds finest fighting force.. they will follow their creed and will not let up from the second they are released upon you on that faithful friday or saturday morning like the hounds of hell until the day they proudfully passdown the eagle globe and anchor to their marines.. i have an insane amount of respect for Drill instructors.. and yeah lol i imagine that drill sergeant looked on like "this DI is fucking insane"..probably thought it was too much, but they will never trully understand.. oh shit i went on another rant.. sorry

The weirdest thing I ever saw in Army basic was a bunch of us naked in the shower wearing our LBE's. (Load-bearing-equipment.) We had just done the PEC's (Physical Endurance Course) and it was dry and dusty. Our drills, knowing we had a 1st Sergeant Inspection afterwards filled a low-crawl obstacle full of water and made us roll in it. We had 30 minutes to prepare for the inspection when we got back from the course with muddy tactical gear. We stripped down, put our gear on and showered with it. We passed the inspection. On a side note the military LOVES using abbreviations-like the time our drills told us we were taking "LPC's" to the range...the "LPC's" were "Leather Personnel Carriers".

When I went through boot camp, we had people screaming "aye aye sir!" in their sleep for about 3 to 4 weeks. The showering sucked, and we had stalls but no door for the toilets. The recruit tape for us was the white tape we used to label everything, and called it recruit lamination when we laminated things. Also, with the chow hall, we would March up to it and "get tight to the front," and from there, the DIS would yell "One, two, three, four attack the chow hall." But later on, we started doing for fervor. "For fervor aye aye sir. ^ One shot > One kill ^ Ready to die but never will" in which then we'd charge to the front with only two squads. We'd have out arm up with out forearm against the back of the guy in front. Our DI would yell arms down, and we'd respond with "Discipline through pain", since Delta Company was Desciples of Discipline

Weirdest boot camp thing I remember is standing on line in just underwear and shower shoes with my shirt hanging out the back of my underwear and facing another line of guys dressed the same, all of us yelling "Good evening, sir! Platoon one thousand one hundred forty-nine ready for inspection, sir!" ... For what felt like two hours. If you were a random person walking in on this you would have thought we all belonged to some insane cult, bent on making the world hang a shirt out of their underwear and yelling at seemingly imaginary people. That and camouflage paint. That stuff never comes off. Pro-tip for you guys going to boot camp soon-- if you somehow get your hands on baby wipes, use that to clean the camo paint off of your face.

Shoddy cast No, but we were required to buy them at the PX. Basically everything you bring that isn't money (and that has a limit) will be put in a box, taped up, and stored until your last week of boot camp. Everything that you absolutely need will either be provided (comes out of your paycheck) or you will be required to purchase it. And DO NOT buy anything you aren't told to buy. That is, unless you are fond of being forced to exercise in front of your peers.

The best part about it was that the recruit was fresh off the boat from China with a strong accent and did not understand much English.

I remember i was in 29 palms for an itx in 2013 and as soon as we got to our afa (i was with an arty unit) i had to take a big shit. Unlike camp pendleton, 29 palms doesnt have portashitters in their afa's, just open sand. So i grabbed an ammo crate, walked about 200 yards, and took a shit in front of about 200 Marines. It's funny to write about it now, but goddamn i miss being out in the field with my boys. It was an awesome time that i'll never forget.

When it came to head breaks we would all form lines in the head in front of a stall. The problem was there was no doors on the stall. So while you were doing a #2 you would be staring at the next guy in line. Which was awkward at first but then you get over it. If you were just needing to pee. Then it was you and three other guys peeing at the same time. Even with all the awkwardness of everything you didn't have time to think about it, you just did it. I would always wait until lights out to do my #2.

My friend is going into the marines. Stress cards are apparently a way for you to signal the training is too much and that you need to stop. What apparently happens after you use one is that they begin to let you relax while the others have to do even harsher PT. It's meant to indirectly punish you since they can't say no, but you can bet that everyone else is going to be pissed by the time it's over.

We had a kid named fox who was 27 and dumb and our senior and heavy told him to scream in the mirror "I'm worthless sir" after that he got dropped.

There was this one guy straight out of basic and he told me that the drill instructors had them hold up rifles with their pinkies
@claytonfilpo8 жыл бұрын
Yep. That's true. Our did that to us while we were out on the drill field and someone repeatedly messed up the movement.
@willdbo8 жыл бұрын
ClaytonFilpo Yeah, he said that it broke a few people's pinkies

Good video again. What game is that in the background towards the middle of the vid when your clearing the house with a boat. Not much into video games myself but it looks pretty cool.

I was at a leadership program called Devil pups at usmc base camp Pendleton ( a 10 day chilled version of bootcamp ) the instructors there scared the fuck out of me so my friends that were on fire watch told me that i would stand at attention and say "sir yes sir" in my sleep lol.
@Fullsendfilosophy8 жыл бұрын
You would say "Sir yes sir?" This is the Marine Corps not the Army.
@fpskorean24088 жыл бұрын
+twopoint Takedown Well when the senior drill instructor got on the bus, he said that we would only be using " sir yes sir, sir no sir, and aye aye sir. " And i didn't do real bootcamp, it was a leadership youth program that was run by Marines.
@claytonfilpo8 жыл бұрын
Cut is right. You lead everything first and foremost with "sir", followed by the greeting of the day

When you go into boot camp, do you recommend that he shave our heads bald before we go? and do we also shave all parts of our body before we go? must be a odd question I just have 1 1/2 until I leave.
@claytonfilpo8 жыл бұрын
No need to shave your head. They'll do it for you.

I ship this coming up Monday to MCRD San Diego. I'm not totally enthusiastic about showing with other guys lol. Also, what about carrying the weakness of other people? like carrying their pack during the crucible.
@claytonfilpo8 жыл бұрын
It happens, but not often. You'd only end up carrying their pack if they get injured.
