+ClaytonFilpo My absolute favorite part about Marine Bootcamp is when they meet the Senior DI and his three "Pitbulls" Its that shudder of "Oh shit..." as the SDI calmly snaps his fingers and the three Junior DI's snap into action like Pitbulls breaking away from their chains.

They want you to be impressed by that......they want that fear, because now they have your full attention. I was a Navy Corpsman for the Corps (greenside) for 7 years. I know guys (good and bad) who were DI's. Some get a huge chubby from all that power and God Status DI's have....it's a HUGE ego thing for many who wear the "smoky bear". Others just want to train you and get you through it. DI's aren't "super-Marines"......they applied, were accepted, and got through the DI school/course. There are a lot of DI's who were truck drivers or supply folks.....both are important jobs, but they aren't all that special in the scope of the entire Corps.

When I went to Boot Camp in San Diego I remember the guys getting off 1st to go to the Marines (I was in the Navy) and the yelling as they left the bus. Also, I remember being told that we were the Last group of guys to have to do 12weeks of Boot Camp 'cause the following guys were only going to have to do 9weeks and we all said "Shit, we are so Lucky...NOT!" ha ha. Oh yea, I remember when we got our 1st liberty and a big Pink Bus with Girls in it came to pick us up and take us all to a local Strip Club. Man, we were Animals! Anon Nymous but I heard it was better to volunteer for a job you most likely won't get. For example, if My contract is 0311 but I truly wanted to go recon or MARSOC then wouldn't I volunteer for recon instead of signing a contract for recon just in case I didn't pass the training they wouldn't place me in some Shitty job I never signed up for ?
@dmorgan06288 жыл бұрын
I wouldve suggested maybe Combat engineers but most just end up as Heavy equipment operators, they're a great group of guys though. I served in a Task Force that I volunteered for and 2nd CEB hosted us. If it's not too late maybe you can change your MOS field. I'm pretty sure if you do well as a grunt you'll have opportunities to get into MARSOC just stay in good shape and lift weight etc.

I don't think that's why they shave it haha.... To me it's because everyone's equal to who you're working with, so everyone shaves their head. An when I was a kid I used to think they would do that so you won't sweat that much while out in war, or get in your way, an won't get lice. Mainly I would think though because of the heat.

touching your face is also a comfort / passive gesture intended to bring the mind out of the present situation and into self reflection or hiding of the self. someone who constantly touches their face can be seen as displaying weakness or disregard for the present moment. not being able to touch your face also takes away your sense of individuality or separation from the environment. it is way deeper than simply avoiding spreading germs.

I've been watching your videos for a few years now and it's really helped my understanding of how things work. Also, I'm not sure if you know anything about this, but could you do a video on the Presidential Guard? A friend of a friend was in the Presidential Guard. It sounds interesting, and is a huge honor of course. Lastly, you've probably answered this a thousand times, but when is a good time to talk to a recruiter? As I said, I'm 16 and plan on joining when I'm 18 or 19

Hey dude! Thanks for the kind words. I can look into the presidential guard, but I don't know too much about it. The best time to talk to a recruiter is when you turn 17. That's when they can legally speak to you and start getting you ready for the Marines.

The thing about wearing shoes your first phase is practically the same in the Air Force. Week one we have to wear what we called the "BMT 11's", which were the new balance shoes if you didn't already bring running shoes and we were called "sneaker weekers." You could tell what week of training someone was in just by looking at them because something about their appearance changes every week.

Just remember, there's a method to all the madness in bootcamp.

You can and should ask what and why things are going on in boot camp. You just have to make sure to do it in the proper place and time. No one is helped by being ignorant, good Drill sergeants know this. Knowing what's going on only helps.

82 guys from many states WILL get germs and sick. It's normal boot life. As a Medic, I gave out bicillin shots and we could not sit down on that butt lump for a couple weeks. Great time and camaraderie! Everyone should do Boot Camp.

I have a question about something. I was hoping to enlist as a female marine, so I started looking at the regulations. Please tell me why our hair has to be a minimum of 1/4 inch. My hair is completely shaved and honestly it's easier and more preferable like that. Why is it an issue how short my hair is? that shouldn't be a problem.

Idk dude, regulations are regulations. I've never seen a bald Marine. Honestly, it was probably a rule made 80 years ago to fit societal expectations and never changed (and I don't think it will.) I don't make the rules. I have seen some very short haircuts on females though. I think it's a minor barrier if you can get past it. Dudes have extremely strict hair regs too, more so than females that's for sure.

Dude broke his foot getting off the bus on day 0. And we yelled all the time at army boot. MP school is no joke there.

im only 15 and I got the pay attention part. I took 4 years of karate and I had to look straight forward. I also have a small to medium amount of gun training. all I really need is to get rid of about 75 pounds by the time im 18 and im ready for boot camp

After the first hair cut are you allowed to grow your hair back too normal?

Dude I love your videos, they're helpful considering I leave for boot camp in 29 days and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. I try to retain as much info from your channels as I can but it doesn't seem like enough to trueky be prepared. If you ever want to help a brother out and hit me up and give me some solid advice that'd be great lol

You should put your stream link in your description. It took me a while to figure out where you were on twitch. And when I did, I felt dumb. XD

What advice do you have for a female intending to enlist next year? I currently have short hair. Should i grow it out so I can put it in a bun or keep it short? Any advice you can give would be great. Thank you in advance. (Also thank you because I will start now with the face thing.)
@claytonfilpo6 жыл бұрын
You'll be given the option to either wear your hair in a bun or to cut it short (without touching your shoulders). So really, you don't need to do anything. And on the flipside, male recruits come with all sorts of hairdo's, but get it all shaped away upon arrival.

I've never wanted to be a part of the military (mostly because it sounds scary) But this is very interesting to know and learn about!
