Next project on the channel that is really exciting for us, 1959 Ford F100 Long bed and 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor chassis swap. In this video, one thing as missing after putting some miles on the truck. It needed some tunes. This video provides an overview of the Soundstream Bluetooth Amplifier with Rockford Fosgates 6x9 speakers mounted behind the seats. This series of videos will highlight how to do this conversion as simple and cost effective as possible. We are shooting for $2000 initial budget to have a running driving shop truck. In the future, we will make improvements after we enjoy it for awhile. Also, you know me, this is staying patina!

Hey building this w my high school shop class right now. Did you have an issue w factory wheel tracak width in the rear? Did you have to clearance anything?

Yes, I could google it, but curious about a real-world answer from you: why the amp? I recently got my 87 swb Square on the road and definitely need to add some tunes. I have two 6x9s in the lower cab corners and two factory tweeters I pillaged from a square in the junkyard (my CD originally had just a single 4x10 in the dash). I'm waiting on my 1990's Kenwood head unit (also found in a junkyard) to be repaired and will drop that in to complete the very basic system. I was prepared to be happy with that set-up as I'm just about the furthest thing from an audiophile there is. I figure it's a tiny space so that should be plenty for me to drown out the exhaust drone at 70mph, maybe I do want to add an amp?

I'm far from a stereo snob myself but here is my reasoning. I didn't want to install a CD player head unit into this truck because the dash was uncut I didn't feel it would fit the 50s ish look of the dash. The head unit acts as the receiver and amplifier for the music. Without it you need another way to transmit the music to the speakers. This particular amplifier has Bluetooth built in so no need for a head unit or traditional amplifier! And with a cost being less than $200 the dollars made sense lol I hope I'm explaining this correctly haha

Doh! I'm an idiot. Didn't even notice you don't have a formal head unit in the system. 🤦‍♂ So was this particular amp (w/its bluetooth capability) more about allowing you to use your phone with the system vs. whatever an amp does (boost sound/sound quality)? If this truck originally had an AM unit in the dash, and say you already had a decent 2-knob am/fm head unit that looked the part, would you still have wired in an amp? @@BestDamnShopAround

@@SaneCayne No worries, it's confusing! If this truck or any other one already had the hole cut for a two knob radio I would most likely opt to go with a vintage looking but modern head unit. I've used classic auto sound which looks vintage but has modern internals.

The original budget to get the truck running and driving was $2,000 and we were able to stick pretty close to that. Since then I probably spent another $1,000 on interior, accessories, and stereo.
