The maths doesn't maths here, its' a solution so you get 3.5L of mixture out of one 1.5L tub, its still not great but its better than the alternative which is water, and it cleans worse. its good to see innovations elsewhere that isn't ipa.

Yeah IPA is cheaper until you burn your house down or end up with health effects.

@@andrewwood6285 There's no possible health problems caused by IPA, only if you drink it, some temporary red or dry skin, or if it goes to the eyes. Burn the house!!! It cames in a normal plastic container and not in a metal or glass container, so the probability to burn your house it's the same like a normal alcohol container.

@@andrewwood6285​​⁠​⁠IPA is in hand sanitizer and everyone was drenched in it during the pandemic, what about that? I haven’t even heard of one person burning their house down using IPA to clean prints. Unless they are in an infomercial splashing it everywhere while trying to light a cigarette.

Fauxhammer recommended methylated spirits in lieu of IPA for eliminating the smell. I’ve been using a two stage dunking system where the bulk of the resin gets eliminated in the first dunk. Then I can let the resin rest at the bottom and hit it with a UV lamp.

Great video - I think I agree with your summary at the end - it's difficult to see a good value proposition for the product. * The detergent is very expensive. * Good PPE negates the smell, and is much more reasonably priced. * Users are still left with the problem of a solution of uncured resin that is hazardous and must be disposed of properly (ie. HAZMAT). But hey, it's not flammable, which can't be said of alcohol.

Yeah but nice to be able to use it directly in an ultrasonic cleaner. I have Uniformation's cleaner and I really feel like I'm only half using it because of the need to put prints into a bag, then the cleaner has that section at the top specifically to allow my to insert the printer's build plate :(

How many times can you use this liquid. Looks like an insanely costly method. Considering the object sizes, wouldn’t it be better to mix a cups worth for a cup size figure. Great video btw. Fantastic voice for narration. Subscribed.

You would basically use it until it's cloudy and ineffective. But due to the cost of the product, I think it would be easier and more cost effective to buy a gallon of IPA and a respirator for the fumes.

I'm wondering if you have ever tried running the solution into a water filter. Ones of those portable ones. Zero water works great for water in my experience. I wonder if it would work on something like this to remove some of impurities to extend the life of the products? Zero water is under $30 for jug and filter. It is just an idea?

I've never tried filtering resin contaminated liquids before. I usually set my IPA out in the sun until it gets gelatinous. I'll need to research the filter method.

First time viewer and never heard of this detergent. It seems interesting but not for me. I use "standard" resin from Elegoo and their water washable stuff and they both clean up fine with Simple Green. Although it does require 3 cleaning steps instead of 2 before UVcuring.

Disposal is done just like contaminated IPA or water. Leave it out in the sun for a long time for the resin to cure, or take it to a site that accepts hazardous waste.

Sure, but why would. you waste a good India Pale Ale 🍺to clean a print? (OK, I'll go let myself out... Most people do associate Isopropyl as with cleanliness; personally I prefer the smells of Ethanol or Methanol, but to each their own.)

Nah. I dont think this is a good solution. Having to rinse it with water is what makes it a miss. You are going to contaminate a bunch of water (you should not be using a sink to do this) so you might as well just use water washable. If the smell really bothers you the better solution is to do the following: Wear a mask, a 3m mask rated for organic VOCs will ensure that you will not smell a thing and will keep your lungs safe from the vapors you can't smell (but still harm you over time). The second thing would be to get a dedicated ventilation set up for your wash area. I bought a $30 grow tent and a $30 in line fan. I feed the tubing of the fan to my window and if I turn it on full blast I can't smell the fumes even if I dont wear a mask.

I'm with you. A 3M 6000 half-mask and 3M 60921 Organic Vapor cartridges is easily less expensive - and the half-mask is reusable. I prefer the full face mask which has integrated eye protection, but that's me. Comfortable to wear, absolutely no odor, you can use the respirator for other tasks (DIAPERS!!! SO WORTH IT FOR THE LAUGHS!!!) A dedicated ventilation setup can also improve resin temperature consistency.

@@pariahzero I also like the full face mask, but I can't wear it due to my glasses. I just wear my face shield instead. But a grow tent that's 2ft by 2 ft by 4ft would be ideal as it would allow you to have your entire 3d printing set up in one space that keeps light out and the smells in and if you spill something inside of it you dont have to worry

My guy, whatever you used to calculate the ratio the first time was not even close to accurate even if it was supposed to be more water. 2000ml of water at 3/2 ratio would need just over 1300ml of the solution, not 400. It probably would have been just fine with 1300ml even with the inverse ratio.

Yup. but it's still very expensive compared to filament printing. I'd love to get into to resin printing but the overall cost of the materials is keeping me away. This stuff for 40 bucks.. shipping would bring it to 45.. pllus tax, we're talking about 50 bucks to wash about 5 to ten prints. Definitely not for the average earner to afford.

Ridiculous price. Who in their right mind would buy this crap? When they make water washable resins, I'm in. The price should be about ten bucks for this snake oil. The prices need to come way down for resin printing to become the standard. Your video was just great though, you didn't pull any punches.
