i would love to see the nitty gritty, often neglected areas of the home, extreme cleaning. maybe you could focus on 1 or 2 rooms per video… or even 1 space, depending on what the area needs… as to not make it overwhelming… maybe wiping the baseboards, getting under the beds, couches, the rugs, the drains, window sills, behind appliances like the washer/dryer, refrigerator, taking the toilet seats off to really get in those grooves. all that fun stuff. i’m obsessed. i love the deep cleans but doing it in a way that’s not overwhelming. i’m doing that now. my home is decluttered and organized, but there is always something i can do! but little by little.

I do my chores at the same time and it really motivates me. So thank you for these simple videos! I would love more. You need what is called non slip carpet pad. My husband has been a flooring tech for 40 years and that’s what he said. Lol. I saw it on Amazon but you can get it Lowe’s or Home Depot.

my granddogs can sleep anywhere they want, and most of the time they chose to sleep in their crates! and like you, the door is always open. i call them their rooms and the grandkids know that if they're in their rooms, not to disturb them. really enjoying your redecorating, and llove llove your socks! happy new year and thanks for all the motivation over the last year

I would try a non slip pad for under the rug! We have a rug on top of our carpet too, but we still use a pad and we don't get that bunching even with furniture on top! And maybe an indoor doormat at the front entrance might save you from having to clean it so often and help with the scuffs!

Your puppy felt safe in the crate, so adorable. I gave my daughter an area rug to put on top of her carpet to put her coffee table in for more decor and it does the same thing. When I had it on my tile floor it was never an issue. The new kitchen is really cute I have a huge plastic one that I need to replace for my grandchildren when they come to play.

I agree with others who have chimed in on the "non-slip" rug liner...I have rugs on top of my carpet and furniture on the rugs and the rug liner does the trick for me. Good luck!!

Don't be hard on yourself. It's so easy to fall into the habit of eating out when it's so convenient. When my husband and I started budgeting I tracked every single thing we spent our money on and I was shocked by how much we spent eating out (even just grabbing coffee out). Now we try to limit ourselves and our finances on items like that and it has really helped me be more mindful. I love the idea of a no spend January.

We have always budgeted monthly, but in Nov & Dec that all went out the window and we broke the bank with all of the eating out 😅 we definitely need to break that habit, so hopefully a no spend January will help!

We are doing the same thing for Jan/Feb - no spend. We didn’t eat out much, but we were basically quarantined the whole month of Dec, so this this weekend we did the last of our shopping by spending Xmas money, and we are done. The last 3 months we way overspent, mostly online shopping lol. Way too easy to click a button when you are bored at home!

You can get the sticky rug to rug “pads” they are flat but will hold the rug in place so it won’t bunch up and be a trip hazard. Target, Walmart, even Amazon sells them.

As for the duvet.....I put my duvet cover inside out - the open end towards me then stick my hands all the way inside to the closed side corners & with my hands inside the duvet I grab an end of the insert & pull it on. Not sure if that description makes sense but I found the method on the interwebs a long time ago & loved the way it worked. Made it much easier imo. You can still tie the ends ( which I love & think really does help keep the fill more even ) before you pull the insert inside the duvet and then when it gets all the way in you tie the final ends.

Happy 2021! We have done so much cleaning to kick off the new year. I needed this motivation to finish it up❤️ We are also trying to do a low spend January. We have noticed that we are eating out frequently and spending more than what we generally have set aside for meals. There is a padding for under rug that will stop the movement. Sometimes the type of carpeting and the back of the rug cause a slickness combined which makes the rug move.

Laundry made easy for me now. Everyone has their own basket (hubby & 2 kids) and when I'm washing clothes, I'm only washing that one person's laundry which eliminates having piles of everyone's clothes. Have central laundry basket in laundry room for towels only. Also, I love setting timers when I do things. I'll tell Alexa 3 minute timer when folding clothes just to see if I can beat that time. It's a mental things w/ me thinking it going to take longer than it does.

Usually when your rugs don't lay flat you have to steam clean them to loosen up the fabric a bit sometime it can get stuff in areas.

I don’t know if it would make a huge difference, but you could try to put more of the carpet under the couch so the likelihood of it moving around may be less. Both carpets are so beautiful!

You can go on Amazon and buy rug grippers. It is like an underlay for you rug to keep it place. Just get the one suitable for carpets

The dollhouse you have, our youngest daughter has the same one in her room. I had recently declutter and rearranged her room and her room is the smallest in the house so I just folded the dollhouse up and placed it where when she wants to play with it she can and then she just will fold it back up again after. For the duvet cover. Turn the duvet cover inside out. Stick your arms inside the cover so each hand grabs one of the far ends of the duvet cover. (Still inside out at this point) Then grab the matching corners of your comforter (at this point you can tie the ends if you have the little ties ) then shake your duvet cover over the comforter while still holding the corners of the duvet from the inside. Causing the duvet to flip right side out. Now the comforter is inside the duvet and you can then tie the last two ends. Then I give a good shake. I hope that makes sense? Doesn’t take long to do.

Your rug is on carpet so no matter what kind of rug you get it will slip BUT you can fix the problem by getting a non-slip pad that goes under the rug. If you have a rug on wooden floor you can get a pad also to protect the floor.

We are having to cut right back this January as the cooker, washing machine, boiler and exhaust on the car have all decided to break down within days of each other....nightmare. If you want, you can get rug tape so that the rug lays flat all the time. Then when you want to move the rug or get rid of it at some point later on, you can pretty easily take the rug tape off the carpet.

@@lovinglifeasmegan If I left the rug on there for a few years at a stretch, I noticed very slight stickiness at the edges when we removed the rug but that easily went away after vacuuming. We have switched out the rug tape for our other rugs every year or so to avoid that slight stickiness. You would want to make sure you get the rug tape that says “residue-free”. Amazon has some good ones.

Love all of your videos! 💕 Try putting the area rug under all of the front legs of the sectional, it should anchor it in place better. It may also be the coffee table, if it’s getting shifted with kiddos playing 😊

If you buy a Anti-Slip Under lay which sticks to the Rug then lay it down on the Carpet it should not move . Its best not to put rugs under the sofa Wheel as each time someone stands on it . It will move we had this issue in the spare bedroom so moved it from under the sofa bed and its fine now with the Anti-slip under lay cover on it now

Hi Megan your house is so cute! You need an underlayment sold for rug to carpet. It’s very thin and kind of sticky to help with the rug moving. Should be easy to find anywhere rugs are sold. FYI It’s different than the rubber padding you use on hard surface floors. Good luck!

You probably need a rug pad under your rug.. the carpet underneath will make it slide everywhere! And yes I would suggest sealing your front area flooring.. but in the meantime maybe put an entry way rug to protect the floor a bit?! I love it all. Now I gotta go clean and purge !

I had this same problem with the rug. All it took was moving it out slightly from under our couch. Then BAM - not more rug wrinkles!

We had this problem once with the rug and this will sounds strange but we found that a heavier thicker shag rug stayed put and did not buckle with the furniture on top.

Hi Megan, thanks for your inspiration! All the best wishes for 2021. I was puzzeling over your rug. I think these things make it stand up: the carpet underneath is probably still quite fluffy. And the furniture standing on it seems quite heavy. You could move the rug, so the couch isn't standing on it, and see if that works sufficiantly. Your room is gorgeous, I hope it works.
