Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose small engine problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

It seems like it's dissolving the copper in the brass? That would give it that beautiful blue color. Maybe do a longlong term experiment and see if there's anything left of the jet in a few years :D

Have the surge on my 10 year old Ariens. It did hold up this season leaving the choke open. Now that it is warmer here in the NE I will attempt to clean the jets out and always use your videos as a reference. I did use lots of seafoam with my gas but it did absolutely nothing. I also bought the small hand drill that you recommended in a previous video. Great work. Very professional.

It looks like a really good stabilizer. I have been using the Canadian Tire brand of stabilizer for several years with good results, but I like the idea that the K100 will help keep the carb clean. I have a mower with a Powermore engine which runs great but it takes 8 or 10 pulls now to start it when it's cold. One pull will start it when it is warm. The fuel is pretty old, so I will replace it with fresh fuel with K100. I have already replaced the spark plug. If the cold start issue isn't resolved after a while I'm thinking that I may have to adjust the valves. Thank you for the video, it was very informative.

Thanx for the experiment. Based on your tests/videos alone, I started using K100 a couple of years ago. Putting aside my decades of using Motomaster Stabilizer (which always worked ‘ok’). I can say hands down, that K100 is THE BEST one on the market. I used it in everything from yard tools, to my boat engine, to my vehicles. BUT...for,some reason Canadian Tire (here in T.O.), stopped carrying it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I wish we could still get it. It’s a miracle product as far as I’m concerned. Does just what it claims. I’ve had to go back to Motomaster brand. 🇨🇦👍🏼

I think in some cases it can make a problem worse using this k100. It starts by loosening crud in the tank, then fuel lines and float bowl. The video shows how amazing this product is. People tend to think it will perform a miracle but all the crud ends up in the jets and emulsion tube. Excellent product if you start with everything cleaned first. Great video Dony👍

I appreciate your videos and that you share your knowledge. Must say that Taryls experiment with fuel additives found k100 first to fail and also found little to no advantage of fuel additives. I'm on the fence myself. I think if one can use non ethanol fuels that the additives are not necessary.
@waynestefinashen239
@waynestefinashen239 3 жыл бұрын
Check my comment to JM about Taryls video. Important to note that if you are starting equipment once per month we likely will not have no start issues but guaranteed if your using ethanol based fuel with no additive you will have ethanol and fuel breakdown causing no start issues. I have seen some pretty nasty carbs over 10 years. Ethanol fuel has been great for business and will continue to provide us with future growth in the small engine repair business.

Yes, but Don used straight K100 in order to make a point about its cleaning properties. It likely wouldn't be as abrasive when mixed properly with gas. After all, has to be pretty darn potent (scientific term), otherwise it wouldn't be effective.

@@jjparody8257 It's not abrasive; it's caustic (scientific term) because it chemically removes the copper from the alloy. You are correct that full strength use is not real world accurate. When mixed with gasoline it will be much less concentrated.

I have found that using any non-water soluble solvent for cleaning carburetor parts can make rubber (neoprene) parts swell, such as the bowl gasket. If your bowl gasket does not fit the groove properly, wash is warm water with a bit of dish soap and let air dry. It should shrink back to it original size and fit properly.

Was it an OEM carb? If not that is likely your issue we have had trouble with aftermarket carb swaps on riding mowers now only use OEM and never an issue. If it was an OEM carb and you did not flush out all the old fuel and blow out all the fuel lines and change the fuel filter you may have gotten a small piece of debris stuck in the main or pilot jet which is causing the surging issue.

Michael my son Jake has taught me a lot so this is only my 2 cents: I would guess the Intek engine has a lot of hours on it? It likely has a decompression release on it so you must do a blow down test to check air pressure bypass. If it is more than 10% loss bypass through the rings then there is a compression issue. If this is true then likely less draw on fuel from the carburetor and starving for gas. If you put the choke on slightly does this stop the surging? If it does it means that by closing the choke plate some you create more draw on the fuel so this would mean you need to increase the hole size on your jets by a few thousandths at a time and keep doing that until surging stops. I believe in one of Jakes videos he actually went from around 0.015" to 0.030" to stop surging whereas going to 0.018 or 0.020" solves the surging issue.

Brass is a copper alloy , copper in solution is blue (copper sulfate) in other words you are in effect dissolving the jet to some extent because it has sat so long in the concentrate you are using to clean it, could this harm it? maybe maybe not . Have you tried acetone yet , might not be as harsh as k1 in an undiluted state but that is assuming it doesn't already contain a fair amount of acetone to begin with , I haven't read the msds just yet so not sure , just some thoughts.

Hey Dony!! I am in Ontario, Canada (Niagara Falls to be exact). I have always purchased the K-100 at Canadian Tire, suddenly it's not available at any store (Home Hardware, Can Tire or Home Depot). Where do you suggest that I buy it? Amazon is the only place I can find online, but have to buy 2 cans for $37.99!!

Kinda looks like some 2 cycle mix was added to darken the K100. 🤔 Just my opinion but that jet didn't look dirty enough to even darken it that much.

The Blue color the K100 is after soaking brass in K100, That is dissolved copper from the brass into the Liquid! As an Acid would do.( like Hydrochloric acid ). Now if you put a piece of Aluminum into that same blue k100 and see if any precipitate, precipitates from the solution. I use Aluminum foil to get copper to drop out solution when recycling used computers, Just Curious! that could clog things Up at some point. Suptou

Yeah, I think I'll stick with draining my carb in the off season instead of messing with stabilizer ever again. The Stabil I used in the past left Snot looking stuff in the bowl. The engine didn't start and I had to pull the carb and clean it with Gumout. So , nope , never again.

I am an avid follower of your channel on KZbin since I get into small engine repairs almost 2yrs back. Just like you, my experience with K-100 is more satisfying compared to other fuel stabilizers that I have used before. After viewing this video, I am just wondering if K-100 can be effectively used for Ultrasonic cleaning of my carburetors instead of using the recommended degreasers? I remember in one of Steve's videos that he was using gasoline instead of degreasers (which renders the colour of the carburetor "dull" after the process). If it does work, great but certainly the cost-effectiveness should be factored in. Lastly, where can I buy K-100 locally? (not available in Canadian Tire, Napa, Part Source, Princess Auto). I bought a case from discounpartsonline, and each bottle of 8oz. cost me almost CAD$17.00 inclusive of tax and shipping. Warm regards and more power.

Howzit Dony. I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am looking to invest in a decent chainsaw. I am looking at a stihl ms 250 since thats in my price range. But a few bucks more, and saving a bit more, I could get a ms 310. Which one is better? I need to cut trees up to 50cm wide, but mostly in the 30-40cm range. Will also be taking the chainsaw on overlanding trips to clear fallen trees off the track.

No, the 250 is lighter. You ask any municipality what saws they use to clean up fallen trees and they’ll show you a fleet of 250’s. Absolutely tried and true. The other saws are great too but much heavier

@josephroberts6027
@josephroberts6027 2 жыл бұрын
@@donyboy73 I get it that it got the grime off, But from a chemistry standpoint, using an acidic solution to chemically remove contaminants from brass will also remove material from the jet, This will POSSIBLY cause issues in the future with the pitting most likely left behind in the jet material. Caustic solutions like super clean or Harbor Freights degreaser may be a better solution, as the pitting and material removal will not be as pronounced as it is with an acid. And for gods sake, and safety's sake..... DO NOT USE a flammable solution in a heated ultrasonic cleaner. You are creating a fume bomb at the very least!!!

OLD MAN from Eliminator Performance just saying super video showing the benefits of K100. We have been using it for 10 years now and all of our equipment (USING ETHANOL FREE FUEL ONLY) fires up first or second pull always. We normally order 4 cases at a time from the Canadian distributor in Waterloo who delivers personally at no charge. Watch for one of our future videos showing how ethanol free fuel from May 2018 with K100s+ in it runs a mower. At this time we do not know whether this 3 year old fuel will still run an engine since the K100 treatment was 2.5 ozs. for 18.9 litres or one year storage. Fingers crossed!
