I am in the process of shopping for an old trawler (nowhere near as ambitious of a project as yours) and am very grateful for your series. Thank you for sharing your refit journey. I am sure I will learn a lot!

Hi Rick, thanks for following along! I hope you are able to find one in better shape than this one! You will be able to see a lot of the common problems with this trawler design which should help you avoid some of them all together. We are always learning too!

Thanks! She sat outside for over 10 years with a tarp. That building was erected around her a few years ago which made it a lot more inviting to work on!

Please tell me you're not putting MDF on the boat??!! Not a product for the marine environment, it acts like a sponge, absorbs moisture and rots very quickly. Would welcome a chance to discuss your project and hints or tips I've learned over the years. Let me know if we can share in our journeys. Great little helper you have!

We were worried about it also. A good portion of the sheets are coated with killz on the back side and we are painting the exposed side with exterior paint with mildew additive. We are hoping for the best. Have any recommendations for dehumidifiers?

@@aboardladyhawk We use a portable Danby dehumidifier with wifi. It has a smart setting and works amazingly well.
