Thank you so much for this video! I forgot to switch shoes while doing a dye project and they’re all speckly blue (and not in a good way). I’m excited to revive them!

Hi Tiffany 👋 It's like watching a Magician at work! Please forgive me if this might sound like stupid question or remark... But for all the work you put in to revive those Birks, would it not just make sense for the customer to buy a new pair? 👀 Or is it mainly for the sentimental value of her sandals? Sent with Gentle Effect💕

Hi! Nah, its totally worth it, 20 - 30 minutes of love and care put into leather straps that will last a lifetime is totally worth it. It costs less than a new pair to put a new footbed on and the leather straps are already broken in. You are absolutely correct, the sentimental value for some is very important and not everyone can afford to spend $125 on a new pair of leather Birkenstocks, especially when they have been given as a gift. Plus, the sense of accomplishment that comes after having transformed your shoes, can't be bought ;) - Thanks for watching! - Tiff

I want to slightly darken my brand new tobacco oiled leather sandals. You said you use leather conditioner or oil. What type of oil/leather conditioner do you use? Would it just be applied lightly with a cloth?
@DesertBirkenstock2 жыл бұрын
Hi Fit Babe! Thanks for watching! We recommend using this: www.desertbirkenstock.com/product-page/leather-lotion You can apply with a cloth if you'd like or with your fingers, entirely up to you. Apply in an inconspicuous area and let dry for 15 minutes to see if you like the way it changes the color - apply every where else if you like the results.

Hi! What do you recommend using after cleaning it with sandpaper and the nubuck block to give it a little bit of sheen and protection? I just stripped my tobacco oil Arizona's and now they look clean but REALLY dry and bland. Also, this video was SO HELPFUL!!! Thank you SO much for posting!

Hi! Thanks for watching! Something a little lighter like a leather conditioner. Apply it to a cloth & apply it it lightly - building the saturation as you go - if you go too dark, lighten as needed now that you know how :) I like to start on the edges of my straps and feather/blend it inwards so it looks aged - darker on the edges and lighter in the middle.

Hey, how do you repair that crack on the cork you showed us?
@DesertBirkenstock3 жыл бұрын
Hi Juju Basu, thank you for your question. The simple answer is yes - the requirement for a crack like that would be a Recraft which is where we take your entire shoe apart and put the straps on a brand new footbed with a brand new sole. We can do cork repair on some parts of the shoe, but a recraft is the only repair that can be done for this kind of repair because that is the flex point of the footbed - where the foot bends so any cork repair would just come apart. A new footbed is the only repair because eventually that crack will go all the way through the footbed and start to pinch your foot. There are two types of footbeds, Classic and Soft. Depending on the style we can change from one footbed to another if you prefer (CANNOT be changed on closed toe i.e. Boston & London, or thong styles i.e. Mayari & Gizeh). We can also take a Regular to a Narrow AND change the size up to two sizes smaller or larger from your original size. You can order this repair from us here: Classic (Hard) Footbed - www.desertbirkenstock.com/product-page/recraft-classic-footbed Soft Footbed - www.desertbirkenstock.com/product-page/recraft-soft-footbed I hope this was helpful look forward to taking care of your shoes for you!

Hi, I have a question about the arizona straps. So my sandals, that i haven’t had for too long, the glue is falling apart. It seems as if the glue is coming off of the strap and the cork or sole and is starting to come off. Do you know what i can do to glue it back on?
@DesertBirkenstock4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! You can use Barge Cement to re-adhere the straps to the cork. If you can't find any in your area, give us a call and we'll be happy to send you some! 702-638-8008 Mon - Sat 10am - 6pm PST

How can I clean my birkenstock straps? 🥺 It's nubuck leather I noticed there's a orange mold on strapn and after using nubuck eraser it becomes more dirty like the leather discolored.

What grit is that sandpaper?
@DesertBirkenstock4 жыл бұрын
A medium/fine sandpaper works, nothing super coarse and not a finishing sand paper that is too fine either.

There are some folks like me who get off on buying used stained birkenstocks from mature women. Instead of cleaning, just sell on ebay or poshmark and get a new pair with maybe 20 dollars more.
