One thing I forgot to mention in the video is how frequently I clean the Billy XL cage. I don't have a set schedule for my cages as the length of time they stay clean depends on several different factors (e.g. substrate, temperature, hamster current diet...). The shortest time my cages remain clean for is 4 weeks but sometimes they can last as long as 8 weeks. Spot cleaning, toy cleaning and "substrate shuffling" are all important factors to help keep a cage cleaner for longer as well as good ventilation. The larger a cage and the more substrate you use the less often it will need to be cleaned which is better for your hamster :)

Emily Rodriguez that's completely incorrect. It really depends on how big your cage is. A bin cage is about every 3 to 4 weeks. A tank is about 3-6 weeks

Hi Erinsanimals my hamsters poo is bigger and softer than usual after giving him some fruits like strawberries and carrots is it because he has wet tail or if he has a doet change?
@ellabougher32267 жыл бұрын
Team Egginators - Roblox & More! If he has wet tail he would be having diarrhea and would be extremely lethargic and just look like a sick hamster. If you think he may be sick I would consult a veterinarian ;)
@ShadowTheRat7 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you're giving him too much fruit and veggies too fast. Hamsters and other animals need time to adjust to diet changes. Try giving your hammie just a pawful of 1 veggie/fruit. Watch him for signs of soft poop, and if he has any, reduce the amount. After you've gone a day or so without any soft poo, you can add in a different veggie, or a bit more of the same one. This way, you know what upsets your hamsters stomach, and you're gradually building his tolerance fore wet foods. I've gone through this process with hamsters, gerbils, and rats, and every animal has needed to start with a lower amount of fresh food, and gradually worked there way up to more of it.
@kabe_057 жыл бұрын

Hey, I wanted to help you with #2, I got my dwarf hamster about 8 months ago, I take him out and play with him every night but I always either let him free range or find a way to cover my hands with my sleeve or something 😂 I decided I would not be scared to hold him so I slowly have started to put my hand in the tank and let him come to me. He hasn't bitten me at all! Now I am comfortable with holding him inside his cage! I would recommend just starting gradually!

If your hamster doesn't seem uncomfortable with the CareFresh, and you provide cool rocks, mugs and sand baths and it doesn't get very hot it should be fine. If not, I could reccomend something like aspen or beech chips.

Is this not true? Secondly, we've always been told to bake all sand to dry and/or sanatise it. Do you leave yours damp just because of the heat and is it OK to not sanatise?

Great video! but i have silly question. It's summer time right now, and its really warm, so, for the granite tiles, can it be different colors like, there's white one, would the color effect the temperature? also, i sleep with a fan on the whole night, and it gets alittle bet chilly, im scared that my mouse would get too cold, should i keep the fan or keep it off? My one question is in the digging area....as he is burrowing around wouldn't the box just slowly shift down? The reason I ask is because my hamster ends up burrowing under all her toys and they slowing sink down to the bottom of the cage. I guess you just have to pull it up every once in a while...I wouldn't want a smashed hamster though.

I have a small wicker ball that was originally meant for decor. Do you think it would be safe to use as a toy?

I am planing to make a diy cage. Do the cage have to be white, or can it be black? I want a black cage, but i want it to be as safe for the hamster as possible☺️ If it’s unsafe with black paint, i would go for a white cage. Or is it the same?

Sleeping Potassium is adorable! And do you wait to add the potting soil a little bit after you wet it or do you add it right after you wet it?

So for a sand bath you can use any type of sand?
@ava_a3134 жыл бұрын
Nope. Reptile Sand without dyed and calcium can work also children's play sand can work.

Where can I buy these kinds of toys? I’d love to get my Margot some bridges and things to climb on but my Petsmart and Soldans doesn’t have a very good variety. Is there an online store people like as well?

If you don’t use soil in your cage do you still have to wipe it down with a baby wipe/ pet safe wipes? Just wondering. Great video ☺️👍

You should remake the video on safe pet bedding because I see a lot of different fittings that you're using and I have trouble finding them in knowing if they're safe

Hi Erin! I was wondering what size/brand tube you used for potassium to go from one side of the wall to the other? The crittertrail tubes by kaytee in my petstores seem to cater more to smaller dwarf hamsters and I'm not sure if my hamster would fit through it. I was planning to use it to connect my two bin cages for my hamster. TIA :)

yayitsyiying You could try using habitrail tubes! They're significantly bigger and suitable for syrians and dwarves
