Please don’t take this the wrong way but it’s so nice and refreshing to see a home that actually needs tidying. There’s far too many videos out there that start with an already clean and sparkly home. What’s the point? You’re real and so relatable and you’re so right, it does help to feel I’m not alone. You’re bloody brilliant and I adore you.xxc

5 years ago I was naturally messy, struggling with my adhd, had never been taught how to clean and thought that I was condemned to live in an environment that stressed me I had the most wonderful friend who helped me tidy and taught me how to clean and then I discovered cleaning videos and now after 5 years of slowly building habits I can proudly say I’ve mastered cleaning and organizing and have become minimal enough to maintain it all! It’s so satisfying to see you on this journey as well as I see my own past I still am naturally messy I throw my stuff everywhere but with my morning and evening routines I’m able to now tidy my doom piles daily ❤

@@nataliebutlerPlease look into the Flylady system. She has saved me from my messy house. I will never be able to thank that woman enough for what she has taught me. I now have routines and habits in place that keep my home clean. And it's easy now! It has become second nature because my routines are habits. I just do them without thinking. I used to wait until the house was wrecked before I would clean. All that did was wear me out and leave us living in a mess the majority of the time. Because you marathon clean and then are too tired to do anything else. It gets bad again and the cycle continues. Flylady has baby steps and she slowly teaches you to build habits and routines into your daily life so that it becomes second nature. And she does it slowly so you don't get overwhelmed. I truly hope this helps you!

My Mom & my aunts put all their time & effort into all the cooking & chores - housework was much harder & took longer back then, but, they never played with us kids. So their floors & bathrooms & fridges were always spotlessly clean - clutter was never allowed to pile up. My Mom vacuumed everyday at 3PM before kids came home from school! Younger siblings were still napping. But where are the memories of play with Mom, which my cousins & siblings & I should be able to cherish now that they are gone? What’s funny is not a single one of us girls is a good housekeeper! (Boys never did indoor chores in those days!) We prioritized time with family & friends - further our education, etc. when we were raising our kids & got back into the full-time workforce when they were still young! Our kids have many happy memories of Mom playing with them at home & in parks, cycling on bike paths, skating, researching kid’s school projects together with them in the library (pre-Internet days!) etc. I feel sad for my Mom & her sisters - they didn’t get to enjoy their children as much as we did ours!

@@htmc2022 my mum never came to school or other such events but I’ve made sure to do all those with my kids… it really is the little things. Our home growing up was always spotless and my bedroom was always like a bomb hit it and my mum wouldn’t allow me to learn a process to clean it - it was always just done. One comment when I was a young mum in my early 20s was how could I be so messy and untidy since I’d grown up in a spotless home.

Great channel. Tip from a mum of three…. Don’t allow you children to eat anywhere other than the dining table (the thing under the chairs in the kitchen 😉 you probably haven’t seen it in a while 😆 I totally get it), no more baby bell smashed into the carpet!!! Teaching the kids to use the table is the best lesson you’ll teach them, it’s the best place for you to connect with them without distraction. Keep going… you’re doing a great job 🥰

Yes…it’s very important to monitor children when they eat. Years ago, a friend’s baby was eating carrots while running around and playing. At some point, carrot got down the windpipe and into the lung which resulted in a hospital visit and a procedure to extract the carrot. That story freaked me out, so when we had our children, they always had to sit quietly when eating…thankfully, my son, and daughter-in-law follow that concept religiously with our grandchild. And a great by-product is a better digestion.😋

It’s also part of the necessity of manners and how to eat and behave at restaurants and at other people’s homes. We had a young family over for dinner years ago whose parents let the child walk around while eating and was gated off in the living room all day. Those boys are so lucky to have such brilliant parents. I love and admire your philosophy and outlook on family and life in general. I am a 72 year old lady with 4 daughters and my life has been blighted by the compulsive need to have the house clean and tidy. When my children were little and then became teenagers, I nagged and bullied them into my mindset. How I regret it now, so very much. Two daughters are very tidy and two are not. Seeing your oh so wonderful videos just reinforces how brilliant your mindset is. Your wonderful commentary lifts my spirits and makes me so relaxed and happy. I feel as if I know you and love you. By the way, blackhead, carpet cleaning and earwax videos, send me to sleep too. I love the wee on the toilet seat, the grubby dog crate corner, and the family life. Ignore any abuse you might get. You are a truly inspirational human being. Beautiful inside and out my dear.

I have two daughters who are very different in some ways. One is very tidy, but not fussy. Her laundry goes from the dryer to the drawers without folding, but the house always looks neat. The other is fussy, but untidy. Her clean laundry sits in a pile cluttering up the floor for days until she has time to fold it like an origami swan, and put it in colour coded rows in her dresser drawers (perhaps a slight exaggeration). Whatever works for you is what is right for you!

After watching your video, I feel seen, understood, and loved through your explanation of people whose brains work like ours! We love a tidy space and a clean environment, we just want to enjoy our children first, and then tend to the mess. I’ve sought the Lord, and I’m led to clean in 5 minute spurts, throughout the day, and it has made a huge difference for me. My home is far more manageable. You are a gift to this world! Keep focusing on the the good! You are an amazing Mom, and I truly can’t wait to see more of your videos!!!

Haha! Im a 5min spurter too. ( sounds a tad rude that. Haha) but yes just do little bursts of stuff so it does not overwhelm. I have my washer on everyday but mostly in the summer as i only have one radiator that i can dry stuff on in winter.

Remi, I found you about a week ago. The only time I feel like I can get cleaning done is just listening to you. I started setting 10 minute timers as I am just getting past Covid. I just have zero energy, but I can do anything at all for at least 10 minutes. If I need a bit more time, I set a second 10 minute timer. I'm so stoked to work up to 60 minutes in a day of just flitting around and cleaning. You're fantastic. I love your voice, your accent, how real you are, the way you talk about the differences in people, the way you love your family, and you let us into your life by showing a complete clean from A to Z. You're so brave. I keep thinking I should do cleaning videos so I can keep myself motivated and honest. ❤️ Thanks again luv! From Utah, USA

Love your honesty! I also enjoy watching speed cleaning, zit and blackhead popping, the guy who details really dirty cars, and the other one who has a rug cleaning business that cleans filthy rugs back to life. I’m a messy too, it gets easier when the kids are grown, but those babies grow up way to fast. You’ve got your priorities in the right order!

I am naturally an organized person, however I’m not a naturally tidy person (aka I know how to organize well when I have the motivation but don’t naturally keep things in order). I am here to tell you tidyness is a habit that can be developed over time! Between leaving a room better than I found it (whether that’s fully straightening up or just relocating one item) and doing a regular “1 hour better” I have drastically improved my tidyness and it is so manageable now.

I'm sorry you get a lot of hate. I wanted to tell you, you're real and that's a breath of fresh air.. You let your kids enjoy their home and play until it's messy, messy but not dirty. Then when the kids have had their fun you do a deep clean. You have nailed it. Happy kids and a clean home. Thank goodness you're not one of those mums that don't let their kids play as it will mess up their show homes.. Keep being you and your kids will grow up in a happy, messy but clean home. ❤

I also just found you and can I just say that I received more help and guidance listening to you for 20 min than any counseling I have spent hours in. Thank You So Much!! I'm so sorry, but I have to add this right now that at 21:48 I had wiped away tears of relief and started to laugh when your baby began walking through the laundry covered in melted tissues. I raised 5 children (all grown now) but that was such a relatable moment - I completely fell in love with you and your family. And in my humble opinion sleeping together as a family has been done around the world for hundreds if not thousands of years and there is no evidence of moms, dads, or the children becoming mental over it. Some people (like you and I) don't require a lot of me time. A lot of our "me" time is fulfilled by doing for and/or being with our family and a few close friends. Most people mean well but just don't realize that even though we are all look the same from the outside we can be do different from each other on the inside. Big Hugs to you from Idaho in the US.

Remi, I’m a retired teacher. Kids can certainly be taught to pick up after themselves. It is delightful to see your little guy trying. Look into sending your 6 year old to a Montessori School, they teach that and strongly encourage creativity. It might be pricey though. My children are all teens and I’m quite far past this stage in life, but having adhd (which I didn’t know when my children were small) isn’t something that you outgrow. I appreciate content that normalizes our struggles. We don’t want to be messy or cluttered, yet, we are. Your judgment fee space is refreshing. I agree with everyone that compliments you on your empathy and thanks you for the videos of an ACTUAL house that needs “tidying”(cleaning)!! I have watched so many “how to clean when you’re depressed” or “how to clean when you are overwhelmed” and those houses look better than mine when it was CLEAN. You have helped me so much when I couldn’t find anyone that understood or could help me. I am a hoarder and it got way, way, WAY worse after losing my son in 2000 (he was sick from birth and should have never lived, but I had him for almost 3 years) and had 2 older children, 4 years and 5 years, when he passed away. My mother was my rock and kept me going, but then she was taken to heaven very unexpectedly in 2007 and my life spiraled downward…with, now, a 7th grader and an 8th grader. My first 2 grandchildren came in 2014(my daughter adopted 2 brothers ages 2 years and newborn). I was on a lot of medication by then just trying to be “functional”. My kids grew up in it and now my grandchildren (7 now ranging from 2 years to 11 years) are having to grow up around it and it is killing my heart and soul!! After watching ONE of your videos, I was motivated to get up and clean at least a small trail from one end of one room to the other!! My washer went out in the meantime so I am having to take my clothes to my daughter’s house to wash them. But then I have no way to put them up once they’re clean because I can’t get to my closet or chest of drawers. I have now been back in the bed for 5 days and was able to finally watch another one of your videos and I am GOING TO GET UP AND DO SOMETHING!!!! I’m so excited and grateful for finally finding someone who can help me and actually understands what I am going through so THANK YOU FOR YOUR LIFE CHANGING VIDEOS!! God bless you and your beautiful family ❤

Oh, I’m certainly no hero!! But thank you so much for your kind words ❤ My 2 living children respect and adore my mother-in-law WAY more than they do me. And one granddaughter is the only grandchild that wants to come see me ❤️‍🩹 I’m so hoping that, if I can ever get my house decently cleaned up, that other family members might want to come visit me…I’m pretty doubtful about that though. Anyway, I am going to keep trying for my granddaughter and maybe by the time she’s 16, I will have succeeded…she just turned 6 🤷‍♀️ I’m pretty down right now, so I am about to watch another one of your videos! Thank you again so very much for being in “my world” and helping me at least TRY to change my life for the better. God bless you and your beautiful family ❤

I’m new to your content, but love how realistic you are! I’m also a naturally messy person. I’m the one in my house who will leave socks on the floor or cabinet doors open, or eat in bed. The biggest thing that helped me (besides my kids just getting older and being more independent) is that we started using our washing machine as a hamper. It’s so simple, but honestly life-changing! We now just all put our dirty clothes straight in it, no messing with hampers or laundry baskets or piles, everything just goes straight in throughout the day. Once a day it’s my job to turn it on and run a load. I don’t sort darks and lights, I just wash everything on cold. I’ve been doing it that way for years now and nothing bad has happened yet. Then when that one load is done, we all put away our own stuff. It’s not overwhelming because it’s literally just what everyone wore yesterday, so kids as young as two can put two or three things in a drawer with some help. Once in a while, I’ll do an extra load of sheets or towels. I have five kids and used to have MOUNTAINS of laundry, but now it’s usually caught up, and it just naturally keeps the other rooms so much more tidy.

My home was chaos every day when I was young a raising my kids. But I missed them once the grew up and out. 😢. Then came the grandchildren! 😂😂😂 and I watch them while their parents are at work anywhere from 3 to 5 days a week. I have something to clean again❤. Especially during these summer days. 7, 6 and 2 year olds. Lol, sand in the house, sand in the dog’s fur…but I know now that these will be my memories, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Oh sweetie! Your fine with the way you do dishes! The thing is here we use very, very harsh detergents. From what I understand you use dish soap with that lovely name Fairy Soap. It’s a soap not a detergent. So not rinsing your dishes thoroughly is fine. I live in a very small space. I absolutely love the kitchen layouts in the UK. I would love having a washing/drying machine in my kitchen. I’m obsessed with British culture. Ever since I saw The Beetles for the first time when I was 3. Wow, this is my third video of yours that I watched. Where do I begin. I thought that I did notice that you weren't rinsing some of your dishes. I laughed. I have never heard of not rinsing dishes. I do remember a woman, friend of my cousin's, who would not even use dish soap because she said it was impossible to rinse all of the soap off and she was afraid of poisoning her children! No, I use dish soap but rinse everything well. Now that I live alone I do use my dishwasher. I just load what I have used and run it when it gets at least pretty full. It is easier because of my limited mobility. I can't stand for long periods of time. Your house may get messy, as all houses with children do. The difference is that you are amazing at being able to clean everything. That is a gift. It was always overwhelming for me. I had three boys. Their father was able to clean and organize things easily. He walked out on the boys and I when the boys were young. He wasn't worth it in the long run. I am also short and it was so hard to make beds. You mentioned how hard it was to deal with your mom. My mom is gone now but she was exactly the same way. I never did anything that would please her. When I was young I would clean my room and I thought I had done a good job. No, when I went to school she would deep clean my room. Honestly she never taught me how to clean. When I did clean she would just reclean everything. I relate so well to you. You are so right, nobody has a right to criticize your house. You live there, they don't. You are easily able to clean it so it is not like your family lives in filth. It gets dirty and messy but you clean it up so well. Also, your boys are so precious. I had three myself and then raised someone else's son when his parents could not take care of him because they were too young and had no money. They gave him to me when he was almost 6 weeks old. When he was about 15 months old his mother was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. His father remarried a few years later and they took him back. Step mother from hell! Now that the baby is grown, and is expecting his second child, his father died suddenly. His life has been so tragic. I am going to stop now. I will keep watching your video's and enjoying them. You keep going and keep inspiring me. I can't physically clean like I would like to but at least I only have myself to clean after.

Speaking about washing dishes. I find myself that it’s very therapeutic. When I want take a pause from dealing alone with my three kids I just go to wash dishes, it’s my mental break. I take a sponge, drop a little bit of cleaning liquid on it, open a tap and one by one wash my pots. Once there was no hot water in the house and I had to soak the pots in a sink, I found it’s washing process disgusting. That’s why I understand some people who hate to wash their pots. Just find a pleasant way for you to do it, and job done ;) Wish all the best for you and family! Love your channel ❤
