Oooooh, those sweet little faces! They don't seem to mind cage cleaning at all. My little old lady hamster does not like it when it happens to her. It's lovely how your mice like being held. Sweetie doesn't like that, either.

Where did you get the branches? If they are from outside, how did you sanitize them for use?
@CreekValleyCritters4 жыл бұрын
I sanitize the drift wood and the dried leaves, but not the branches with leaves, it is just not practical. The mice enjoy them so much, it is worth the risk. The risk is low because where I live rodents, tend not to climb aspen branches, the squirrels are mostly in the conifers. This means the odds of there being parasites or diseases on aspen branches is very low. Once a year I treat everyone with Revolution for kittens as a precaution, it does a great job against parasites. So far I have not had any problems, the risk is there but more than worth it.

Wow your cage is absolutely gorgeous! I also love the little noises and hammock cabin things. It’s so creative. I would make one but I have big chunky rats instead of tiny little mice. I do want mice in the future so when I get them I’m definitely doing a similar nature setup.

I wonder if a type of GoPro camera that you wear on your head would work? Then you would have both hands free. Love your videos🥰
@CreekValleyCritters4 жыл бұрын
The problem with GoPro cameras is that they do not zoom in. Mice are so tiny, to film them properly you really do need to be close. But I will keep it in mind for larger projects, e.g. hut making.

@CreekValleyCritters4 жыл бұрын
Wildies come in two main personality types: those that revert fully to wild behavior as they mature and those who keep their bond to their human and stay trusting and tame. The ones who revert to wild behavior should be released, a captive life will just make them unhappy. One who stays tame can be kept as a pet if you want to. It will need a large cage, a terrarium is best. If you want to find out more about wildies, check out the website 'Deer Mouse Ranch' mouseranch.com/ , they have info on keeping wild mice and on how best to release them back into the wild.

How often do you have to do these cleans with this mousery? Caring for mice at work, I know their oils can get stinky pretty quickly. But with habitats like these I would love to know
@Mikagow4 жыл бұрын
I have rats and they cant have cages like these because they produce toxic ammonia too quickly. Mine are in a huge bird cage with so many toys.

I spot clean every week and do a thorough clean every two weeks. But this depends on the size of the cage and how many mice there are, it varies when they need cleaning again.
