California gardener here…..screen the base of your raised beds!!! If you think the wasps are bad, wait until a mole takes down all of your peppers! If you don’t do this in the beginning, it’s a real pain to retrofit. Best of luck.
@TaklyntheWorldАй бұрын
.....i didn't even think of this! We've never had an issue with moles before. I'll do it for future beds, it doesn't look like the previous owner put any so hopefully they aren't a problem for the ones without!
@dadpope55923 ай бұрын
Ahh you should have left the indoor-outdoor garden beds. When it rains you feed the indoor side. If you compost and add it outside you feed the inside green house garden bed without having to keep swapping soil. It's like a small, closed loop system.

@@TaklyntheWorld You probably can find a Kabota in your area used in good condition. Kabota has lots of accessories that can make them useful for plowing, digging holes, as a fork lift vs. just the front bucket. They are very popular and so are parts to repair them. I'd put an umbrella on it for shade !

I live in Stockton, CA, where I have a few mango trees thriving in my garden. Initially, I started them in a greenhouse, but they've since transitioned to the outdoors. I'm working on getting them acclimated to the local climate so I won't need to bring them indoors during the winter. My oldest tree, which is about six years old, now stays outside year-round. All of my trees were grown from mango seeds we've enjoyed, and they tend to flower as the weather warms up. However, they often lose their fruit once temperatures exceed 100ºF. To improve their resilience, I’m planning to experiment with growing them in shaded areas versus direct sunlight. I also believe that maintaining high humidity in the greenhouse could further support their growth. I also have a banana tree planted in my front yard that I got from my cousin. They have about 10 plants that fruit about 3x per year. Happy planting!!!

The greenhouse looks great!!! I know it was a lot of work for such a small space, but you guys made it look easy. As for the deer, you’ll need to protect your plants with taller fencing, metal fencing or chicken wire, or they’ll be back, and with many friends. It’s hard enough protecting your fruits & veggies from the other critters. 🦝🐿️🐀🐦⬛ Looking forward to seeing you guys get settled in your new home. Lots to do, but take your time so you guys don’t burn yourselves out between fishing trips & home renovations. And, Jocelyn, your hutch turned out beautifully. I love the hue of green you chose.❤️

Just do hoop house greenhouse, If your planning to plant tropical trees. Plant them in the ground in the spring once it warms up and when it starts getting cold just set up a hoop house for each tree, that way you’ll be able to adjust each hoop house to the size of the trees, instead of building a permanent structure. My grandma grows guava trees and in a hoop house, takes off the plastic liner in the summer and puts it back on once it’s starts getting cold and she gets amazing harvest and size. Also one of my cousin grows papayas the same way.

I think the first thing you guys need to do is remove some of the overgrown weeds and debris around or near the main house. Your area is known for wildfires and to safeguard against any major issues as such cleaning the surrounding area is a must. How awesome to see deer right in your backyard, how nice is that? They sell wasp repellent where you can stand about 10 ft. away and spray the nest to get rid of them. I don't think using a vacuum cleaner will eliminate them. You have to remove the source.
@TaklyntheWorld3 ай бұрын
We did use spray, Taku’s just vacuuming the survivors. 😅

Congratulations on the new ranch! I suggest rain gutters drain to rain barrels to use for garden water, buy and spread mushroom grain spawn around the property and inoculate the oak trees with plugs, do not use pressure treated wood in gardens you plan to eat the food toxic cancer causing chemicals can leach from the wood into the soil. Definitely start hunting, venison is excellent but get your license and check the regulations first. You can’t shoot near your house. Best of luck!

Dear hate, hate, hate the smell of raw eggs. I mix well raw eggs, equal amounts to water, and then I sprayed it around the perimeter of my garden. The deer hate it and they stay away. I only have a 4 foot fence. The deer do jump over it, but they stay far away from my raised beds. You have to reapply after it rains. And no, it doesn’t smell too, humans. I learned this trick from an old timer up in the hills in Oregon many years ago, and he grew food out there in the woods. Successfully, I might add.

🌴 Hey you two, 😆 well the fun begins ! , there is stuff in garden sections that you can use to keep deer away , that usually a farm dogs duties , ants,wasps bats oh my ! Deer ,lizards , all kinds of critters , saw some of the blue plastic barrels when ya did the walk a bout , those could make dandy rain barrels , mount them higher up so they are self draining to water the green house , don’t know how cold it’s going to get there outside but if your growing mangos, papaya, and naners , it’s got to stay around 75- 80 degrees , those are tropical plants , you might want to think about grow lights 🤔 well here’s another suggestion as you’ll be buying and hauling stuff all the time ,think about getting a pick up truck , four wheeler if you area in big snow country especially if ya gotta travel an hour to the grocery store, So your out in the sticks , ya might wanna think about some protection and hunting devices, ( ya know just in case Bigfoot comes around ) 😉
