When is was in the US Navy in the 1960's they had their own system to fold your clothes. I still use that system. I'm 79 now. Still works.

On a US Navy ship, space is very limited. I served on destroyers. We had bunks 3-high and there were 3 lockers beneath that. All of your belongings had to fit that. If you search KZbin videos there are several examples of how to fold clothes. You've probably seen sea bags so if you get transferred again everything has to fit in that. Of course at that time we didn't have cell phones, computers, etc. so your needs were just the basics. Hope that helps you.

I've never had a problem with my jeans folded over the hanger the typical way. This seems like a solution looking for a problem.

I hang dry my clothes and hang up in my closet anything that I don't want to get wrinkled (easy to do in Australia year round). If needed my washer-dryer has a steam function - in 25 minutes multiple items of clothing can be wrinkle free. Within a couple months of testing the steam cycle I gave away my iron.

I don't remember the last time I ironed. When i was younger I had to iron ROTC uniforms, which is how I learned that spray starch and steam don't play well together. My uniforms always turned out nicely otherwise.
@karenrich9092Күн бұрын
I used to have lots of clothes growing up and a very small closet. The ironing board with iron was at the foot of my bed. I came in from the shower, turned on the iron, and by the time I chose my outfit, the iron was hot. Sometimes I would only iron the hems of my jeans or summer dresses. In this real world though, if you hang it up right from the dryer, it won't wrinkle. If it does, your body heat will "iron it" by itself.

I do not buy things that need ironing, but I do have a steamer when necessary for men’s dress shirts. To tell you how little I use it though, my husband went on a trip and had asked me to buy a gallon of water for him. He called me later to tell me the water I bought tasted terrible. I knew he had left his new gallon, so I asked him where he got it. He said “in our closet, by the steamer”. I then started laughing hysterically and told him that water was 2-3 years old, as I had bought that distilled water for the steamer years ago. It wasn’t even a full gallon, so not sure why he thought that was the water I bought him for his trip. 🤔

A hard no to ironing, I take my clothes out of the dryer as soon as it finishes, fold and put away. Use the old fashioned way to hang my jeans, also hang jumpers, cardigans and coats/jackets, I Marie Kondo fold my tshirts and underwear the past 5 years, I actually enjoy the process of folding them like that and its a visual joy when I open the drawers 😍 I decluttered a ton of clothing too so everything in there feels calmer and more intentional. Bliss 💕

Most of the ironing I do is for home decor (e.g., tableclothes, curtains). I don't mind ironing actually. There's something very soothing about it to me, and the end result is very satisfying. However, I don't do it with a lot of clothes. I prefer steam them if they really need it. It's a lot easier than getting around buttons, zippers, etc. with an iron.

@@leisalee3287 I like to think I own more than one set, but I do what you do: wash, dry and return to the bed. Once in a while I will rotate sets, but not often at all.

Thank you! Time to reorganize my pants today. I rarely ever iron. If I do it's for dress shirts or dress pants with wrinkles or a fold on the pant hem. If needed I just hang the item in the bathroom while I shower and that usually works fine. I did get a mini pptablr travel steamer years ago because of how easily clothing wrinkles when stuffed in a suitcase or bag. Yoi cent rely on hotels to have an iron and not all clothing can be ironed. I've never gone to a dry cleaners... never needed to. They use a lot of harsh chemicals. So unless it's an extremely expensive item I don't want to chance ruining, I'll stick to hand washing instead if needed.

I have a spare bedroom with an ironing board set up, ready to go, at any time. I can't stand to see people with 100% cotton shirts that are not ironed. I used to even iron knit shirts....I don't do that any longer. I have cut back some mainly due to my age (76 yrs.) and doing a lot of ironing is too tiring. BUT....there are certain things.....slacks, some shirts/blouses that will always be ironed.

I must have been wired to iron. When I was 4, I begged my mother to let me iron handkerchiefs and dish towel. She let me with very close supervision. I still enjoy ironing my linen sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, etc. I absolutely hate the washing, handing and folding parts.

I hate ironing with a passion.. There are drip dry materials. Materials with a percentage of polyester and cotton, easy care, non iron so why are manufacturers still making clothing which needs ironing. For years I didn't buy any clothing that needed ironing. This rule came unstuck when I ordered clothes by mail. I sent some back but others I love, what a dilemma. I ironed! Not sure how long I wiil keep doing that, I might start a new trend ‘ The Rinkled Look’ , who decreed material had to be smooth any way. 😂LOL
