@KatarinaS.4 жыл бұрын
@@rbeck3200tb40 Yes, that's what I'd do. You can get pretty good, heavy duty ones for less than $20 each at home depot. The porcelain itself can be cleaned up easily, unless the previous owners were really disgusting and never cleaned the thing. I'd much rather buy a new washer and dryer than a new toilet, again, unless it's stained beyond ability to clean. All of your clothes, bath and dish towels, baby stuff, etc have to go in the wash and who knows what people had or threw in there before you. Eww, cooties! Plus, in my experience, most people don't air out their machines or they forget wet stuff in there for days and the machines get mildewy and smelly, and then that nastiness will get into your stuff. You can't just close the lid on the dang thing after using it, it's wet in there, air it out for several hours first for goodness sake. And ventilate, that goes for everything in the house that gets damp, every machine and room, leave doors ajar, open windows, and use fans.

Should you clean all the way behind the toilet too?
@awalton90245 жыл бұрын
2 more tips. A plunger doesn't always work to lower the bowl water level, or worse can pull stuff back in. As an alternative, pour a bucket of water in the bowl which (counter-intuitively) lowers the water level. Also, the toilet in the video is not calked around the base. It's an easy DIY job that makes cleaning easier and prevents all sorts of nastiness from dwelling in that crevice.
@lionintu2 жыл бұрын
I agree caulk around the base

@sextusempiricus79132 жыл бұрын
um..........I don't think you want to do that. This area should remain DRY. If it's wet you have a problem. this is why they don't caulk there.. If you see moisture around the base you have a little problem.

@@sextusempiricus7913 I never have moisture sitting around the base. Thats not the reason for caulking it. Its caulked to create a seamless look. Its dry. The only reason it would be wet is if the toilet isn't mounted properly.

Disinfecting-all-purpose cleaner? Your all-purpose cleaners usually involve only water and soap. Did you add alcohol for this one? Or was it just a disinfectant with water and alcohol?
@AgaMonsterBitch4 жыл бұрын
soap water is actually just as effective as disinfection. that's why washing your hands with soap for half a minute is enough to kill all (not 100%, but close to) germs, bacteria, viruses. that's also why doctors and scrub nurses wash their hands and arms with soap and water for a few minutes, it does the same work as disinfectants, but it doesn't dry out one's skin too much. ☺

A tip for thorough cleansing of the toilet seat: it comes off, and many of them come apart (lid, seat, 2 hinge pieces) You can soak it in a cleaning solution since they're all the same high quality plastic - no exposed metal to corrode or if there is, it's probably brass and thus very corrosion resistant. Takes a fair bit longer, but if you have time for passive cleaning and don't want to scrub, you have that option.

It spun around and shot the mess all over the room like a machine gun. A few minutes later I heard my son on the phone with my then husband. "Daddy, you have to come home, Mom's losing it!" Some US toilet brushes have the little brush, but the standard ones don't. There are different holders, some more or less like you describe, but the standard style has a little cup underneath, so the brush drips dry by the cup can get dirty. (blech)

Cleaning the toilet is quite easy, the oven on the other hand. It doesn’t get cleane weakly, more monthly or less. Because it has to cool down then it is forgotten. It needs rougher cleaning things to get clean and then you need to be extra meticilous to make sure all chemicals etc. are completely gone. So next Time I am using the oven the food won’t be tainted. Getting some rubber gloves to specifically use for the oven helped a bit. I dream of getting something like the H20 steam mop to hopefully clean quickly and chemical-free.

MissVasques use a White Magic Sponge (that’s what they’re called in Australia), rinse in cold water and wipe everything away with ease, including baked on grit. As the sponge gets grotty it shrinks until it’s used up and you throw it away. You can buy 100 for around $9 AU on eBay.

Another way besides the plunger to lower the water level that works very well is if you take a bucket of water and pour it right into the toilet bowl with emphasis toward the toilet hole, it will cause the water to recede into the hole too:). No dripping plungers on the way out of the toilet:)

I know I was in Germany about to go into Switzerland, stopped @ a McDonald's they had attendants waiting until you left to clean the toilet. However, when I stood up the toilet seat started turning and cleaning itself. I was in AWE of all the cleanliness there. Of course, they had a standing up pan waiting outside for the attendants, waiting to be tipped. Very different than here in the states!

The McDonald's I went to in Germany had a subway system type entrance (Turnstile) where you had to put your money into a coin slot before you could walk through the turnstile. This way there were no bathroom attendants.

Funniest toilet story for me was using the public toilets in Santorini. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the tap for hand washing. There was none, so I tried the swipe underneath thinking it was a motion sensored one, nope. Turns out there was a button on the floor I had to step on to make the water run. No wonder I was getting funny looks waving my hands madly at the basin 😂😂😂

If you have trouble with regular paper towels not holding up to cleaning then give blue shop towels a try. They are a little more expensive so try to get them when they are on sale. They are usually lintless too so make for a good towel to clean glass and mirrors. These towels are made of paper, not cloth or microfibers.

Working retail. My manager found me and asked (told) me to clean the woman's room. She knew I didn't have the nerve too say no. Some one had bent over in front of the toilet, took aim, and exploded! There was "stuff" on the wall two feet above the toilet, all over the tank, bowel and floor. Had to start with a mop on the wall and work down. Made the co-op student help. That was twenty years ago and I still don't under stand the physics behind that mess. 🚽😝

When I bought my house about 2 years ago the underside of the white toilet seat was stained a brown yellowish color. It looked disgusting! I thoroughly cleaned and disinfected it but the stains remained. I had a new toilet installed about 4 months ago and unfortunately the same type of stain is beginning to form despite it's being cleaned almost daily. I've tried everything. You can use products sometimes. Other times the finish is actually eaten away from the seat by the ammonia in urine or bad cleaning. You can purchase replacement seats for about $20.00 I believe. Be sure to take your current seat off and (if you dont want to take it with you) to lay parchment paper down and trace it. Also trace where it bolts on. Make sure the shape and spacing match when buying new. ;)

The smell was extraordinary and nearly made your eyes water! Blechhhh...........

@yviesunshine81765 жыл бұрын
After years of having cats I finally perfected cleaning the cat smell out of the plastic box. 1. I make sure all litter dust and bits are out of the pan. I use a little water, make sure all areas get wet by tilting the pan, then I use a paper towel to wipe. 2. I scrub all areas of the pan with lots of baking soda. About a cup or cup and a half for a big box. I use just enough water to make a scrubbable paste. Then I let sit for 10 minutes. 3. I then pour undiluted vinegar into the mix and while it's foaming up I scrub and wipe all around. I use enough vinegar until the bubble reaction ceases. 4. Rinse the pan out and dry Go a head and put your nose right in there. I never smell anything. And your cats won't either. Scents from detergents can deter a cat from a box. For outside messes, I used dawn dish soap. Rinse let dry. Then I use a product called Zero Odor. I may have to spray and let dry a few times, but it is the only product I have found that takes the smell out. I have used it on my hardwood and concrete in the basement.

Your suppose to let your chemical sit on the surface that you are cleaning for about 4-10 minutes after spraying it.. it depends on what the label says on your cleaner that you are using on how long you should let it sit and let the product do it's magic, so that being said it gives it more time to kill germs.
