That's a level 4 hoarding situation!!!, because of the heavy roach infestation. The number of German roaches is absolutely unbearable. They have a terrible odor. The smell in that place must have been overwhelming. And they cause respiratory issues...asthma...hard on your lungs. Vacuuming stirs up the dust created by their feces and body parts. I sure hope to have a good quality mask for jobs like these. Also, hope a pest control company was scheduled to start treating this place. It could take up to six monthly treatment to knock down that level of infestation. And the neighbors, they know there is filth in there, because of the roach invasion. The apartments on both sides of her and above and below her will have the vermin traveling into their apartments...oh, man, do I feel sorry for her neighbors! What misery to live next to squalor like that. And the poor landlord. A nightmare.

Barbie says in the beginning that the 1st time she cleaned this location, the client refused to throw anything away. They weren't ready to let go yet. It's very difficult for someone with hoarding tendencies/disorders to part ways with stuff. Barbie came back to this house because the owner is finally ready to start decluttering. The 1st visit created a ripple effect. Change or progress starts as a small ripple and gets bigger and bigger as long as we allow it to.

My guess is her request for a second cleaning could have been denied because cleaning clutter is nearly impossible. I know because my sister was a hoarder and in order to clean her floors it had to be done a square foot at a time because you had to move so many boxes just to clear a space to clean. Same with doing dishes, her counters were so cluttered you couldn't set anything down, you had to move a ton of trash, recycling, food, and dirty dishes just to make an empty spot so you could start washing dishes.

When doing the dishes and trying to prevent back pain, open the cabinet door below the sink and place one foot on lower cabinet to elevate your foot appropriately 4-5inches. Also, you can make a very wide stance with your feet apart, which lowers your height. Hope this helps, even if just a little.

You were at this apartment once before and cleaned it? How could it get so dirty in that time? I hope they change their habits and maintain it at least decently. I would hate to see people take advantage of your kindness.

In the beginning or first time they did not want her to throw out anything. So it was just cleaning. And as you can not clean or organize clutter. This time Barbie also says it was one of her early clients and she has learned a lot and is doing a better job.

FYI: Cats are very clean animals. As a general rule, they will only go outside of the litter box if they are sick or if the litter box is dirty.

Or if they’re really stressed out! My one cat was stressing my oldest out and she started peeing outside the cat boxes and in our bedroom/living room. Thankfully that was years ago and they’ve mellowed out. There’s nothing worse than cat pee

Seems like the New York landlords don't do much for their tenants, such as fixing and replacing things. That doesn't excuse tenants being dirty, but still give them a place to be proud of.

An oven suggestion here: Aluminum foil for this lady I cover my stove top with it and if I have a big spill while cooking, I let it dry then change it out. I absolutely hate cleaning the oven so I do this to make cleaning it manageable for me

I just got a small steam cleaner and they are the best! it cleans hard water stains without all the chemicals and makes things seem like brand new! such a nice job and organized so it may be easier to keep ahead of it now!

you did an amazing service for these people. I just feel sick that people have to keep food and eating utensils and dishes in cockroach infested cabinets. Any food in a box or bag will be crawling with them🙁. It is sad they have no lidded tote or impermeable food containers to store flour, sugar, pasta, cake mixes and similar items to avoid food waste and having roaches and roach feces in their food and on their dishes. 😮

If it is your kitchen have it elevated a few centimeters. You are too tall for the height of your kitchen or your kitchen is too low for your height.

the standard height of kitchens is not intended for working in a standing position. it is from a time when people worked sitting at the kitchen table and had no money for higher kitchen furniture. if you have permanent problems with your back you should jack up your kitchen at home. an inexpensive solution is also to buy a spastic tub for cleaning the dishes, which you put on the countertop.

Sometimes spray cans have a dot that you have to turn the nozzle to line up with the dot. That might help it spray better. I just learned this a year ago.😂😂😂

You can actually use bleach to clean almost every surface! I use it for my bathroom, the kitchen sink, the counters and island in my kitchen. Idk about the strength of other chemicals, but I know that bleach will obliterate practically any fomite or pathogen you find (it works wonders on containers that previously stored moldy food). However, the Clorox bathroom cleaner works just as good. I used to clean a restaurant for a living!

I know it must be hot in some of these houses you clean, but cover your hair and wear protection ( goggles) . Always make sure you protect yourself. You did an excellent job. And for the sapray nozzle, put it in a little bit of warm water to soak for a few minutes. Sometimes the hole gets clogged up with dried product. It always happens with my spray starch nozzles. Hope it helps.

You are so right. I injured my back while lifting a box of water bottles and twisting at the same time. My back pain never really left after that. I have tried physical therapists, muscle relaxers, back support brace, cortisone injections, toradol pills really helps with pain and inflammation. At this time I go in for radioablation , under sedation, it does not hurt at all, and the radio waves kill the nerves which cause the pain. But I still have to be careful not to lift heavy items. Barbie please take care of your back, to avoid chronic pain in your future.

Hey Barbie, if you have a dollar store anywhere near you , you can buy aluminum stove protectors so that when you put the cast iron burners back on you have the fitted tin protectors underneathe, you can buy round ones and square ones ..they really look good 😉

I found you because of the Univision news feed in Facebook. I always wanted a person to do these cleaning in NYC. To help a lot of elderly people. Do not go more than two times and these people should be talking to a social worker or health care provider to get the psychological help they need. Maybe if they contact you a second time ask them if they have an appointment to get help with their issues.

Sometimes the spray hole gets a bit blocked, if you take the white bit off & put it in hot water, it should unblock it & then it usually works better 😊🤞

Another tip for the problem with backache and doing dishes. Wear an apron or towel around your waist so you can stand closer to the sink and not worry about getting your clothes wet. It really does help. I hope you will see this comment because the video is a month old. I will watch a new video and place the comment there too!

Open the door and place one foot on the floor of the cabinet. That prevents stooping. When your back stays neutral, you are less likely to develop pain.

During the first clean the resident wouldn't allow anything to be thrown away. When she asked again, Barbie said she would do it, but had to be able to throw things away ... the resident agreed. That's a responsible sign and huge step for that resident. So, Barbie agreed to clean, and discard.

Also have burning pain in my back when I do dishes and it was the same when I was young. My mother said it was because I was standing in one place LOL but it turned out that I have osteoarthritis and have had it since I was a child. It's much worse now but manageable so far. My mother was from the generation of, if it hurts rub some dirt on it LOL

None of these people putting themselves on social media are doing cleaning for free. This is how they make their money. People allow them to clean their houses but the cleaner rakes in revenue in sponsorships, views, different social media platforms etc etc. The real angels out there are the everyday people helping others genuinely every day for free without advertising themselves for money. These are business people. I just can't understand the stupidity of people thinking that aurikatarina etc al are doing it for free. The dishes! Always a challenge for a sore back. There is a way to stand (yoga/physical therapy) bend your knees, tuck your tailbone, it takes pressure off lower back. A qualified person could explain better than me.

You are wonderful, Barbie, and so kind to go back and help this poor lady again. Sink height can make a big difference to how comfortable we are washing dishes. Some are too high and some too low. I use different shoes to try and adjust my height and this has seemed to work wonders over the years. You could try a few magazines to stand on if you are cleaning someone else's house. When the sink is too low, there is not a great deal we can do.

I thought I heard you say this was your second time coming to this house. What do you say to them about going back to old ways? You do such a great job at each project you do for these people. I do understand depression but some of these people seem not to try and truly help themselves, like other you've help jump in an help.

Barbie says in the beginning that the 1st time she cleaned this location, the client refused to throw anything away. They weren't ready to let go yet. It's very difficult for someone with hoarding tendencies/disorders to part ways with stuff. Barbie came back to this house because the owner is finally ready to start decluttering. The 1st visit created a ripple effect. Change or progress starts as a small ripple and gets bigger and bigger as long as we allow it to.
