hello ! I have big issues about motivation and cleaning, this probably come from my depression when I was young. Seeing you clean with such a positive energy really motivate me to do so , this makes me feel like it could be a pleasant , almost playfull, experience and for someone who has a brain wired around "cleaning = bad" this really helps me. I'm going to follow your channel to finally invest me into cleaning better my living space. Thank you very much !

Last week i was named wit another classmate to clean around the cooking classroom and i didn't knew how to mop. I tried my best but then the teacher asked me if i ever did this, and i said no, shestarted mocking me and she cleaned in my place. No one ever teached me how to use cleaning tools like mops, brooms etc. However this video is very nice, i love how you explained step by step, now i just hope i wont gonna be ashamed of a teacher ever..

I can relate! I didn't learn how to sweep until I was about 30. I'm nearly twice that old now and I'm just starting to feel confident about mopping. I didn't have a good example to follow at home, so it was mostly about figuring it out myself. That makes me sad to hear that your teacher mocked you - the very opposite of what a teacher should do! I have always been grateful to a 7th grade Home Economics teacher who taught me to wipe water spots off a counter top - something that would never have been done in my home, but made a big difference. I wish sweeping and mopping had been taught too.

This video holds up even today. So much better than all these ridiculous systems that have been developed to make it easier to mop without having to touch the mop and ring it out. The string mop works better and is much cheaper. These "moping systems" will break down after a year or two or even sooner.

#1. investing in a mob bucket with a wringer is well worth the investment. #2. I buy mop handles that allow for replacing the mop head. In this way, I can choose different weights of mop heads and have at least two mop heads on hand. One for initial cleaning and the first rinse and the second mop head of rinsing only. After the floors are done, I hang the mop heads on a clothes line, fence, or a saw horse and rinse throughly with the hose and allow them to dry outside. #3. If you think you are NOT going to end up either bending over or on your hands and knees with a clean cloth or sponge to get the baseboards clean after the mop left splashes or residue then perhaps you should inspect your baseboards again.

I've never learnt how to mop or sweep the floor. I've tried doing it but after five minutes I get so tired. This video makes mopping look so easy and simple. Even after watching this video repeatedly and tried mopping many times and I'm still not able to do it properly. I can't figure where I'm going wrong.

I can relate! It takes muscles and practice to get used to it! I was over 30 when I finally mastered sweeping! I remember my arms getting SO tired at first - but after several months it was no longer a problem. About mopping - getting good at that has taken much longer because I had a large family and it was always hard to find a time to do it WHEN no one would be walking on it. Mopping uses the same muscles as sweeping, so once you've got those muscles, you can do either.

I use the Vileda Easy Wring mop. It's like a good old string mop, but the bucket has a pedal that spins the mop head to quickly and easily remove the excess water but still keep it wet enough, works great. You can also remove the head and throw it in the washing machine (I wash it with bleach to effectively remove stains and disinfect it at the same time).

This is what I do for really dirty floors (or anything else that can tolerate water). I put my water/solutions down (a couple of cups or more) and just cover the floor with the mop. When it's all soaking, leave it alone for about 20 minutes. The solution will dissolve most of the dirt without you having to scrub it over and over again. When you go back, just mop up the loose water and rinse if you want to. The tough stuff comes right up. I use this technique on my stove, counters, windowsills, floors, sinks, porches, etc. It's like letting your dishes soak in the sink for awhile. It gets out most of the ground-in dirt with just a few swipes.

Welcome to the channel! Typically, if floors are streaky it's for 1 of 3 reasons. 1, they are still dirty. 2, too much cleaning solution was used. 3, they were still a little too wet and not dried properly. A tip for drying you floors is to turn the ceiling fan on high while you are mopping.

Just a couple of suggestions, especially regarding floors that are not new and are high traffic areas (bathrooms especially): although you did mention cleaning along "the trim" how about a few more suggestions for cleaning along "the edges" of your tile floor and most of all, how about those corners where the dirt and the gunk piles up like little snow drifts (and the old wax for the non-waxless floors). Thanks again.

I kick it old school and use a shitload of towels (3 per area). I spray the floor with whatever solution (usually vinegar and lemon juice) and use one towel to spread it around, I use a second water-drenched towel to rinse and a third one to dry. I do all these with my feet, not on my hands and knees. Complicated? Perhaps? But the whole using one mop over and over again spreading junk all over the place just makes me cringe!

I think you may have answered this down below but not sure. I always thought mopping was a two phase job: first--you apply the pine sol as you demonstrate but then two you finish with a "clean rinse mop" to remove any other remaining residue from the floor. Will experiment with just phase one and use a small amount of pine sol and see how that works. Thanks for the video!
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, you are referring to the slop mopping technique. The first phase leaves the floor really wet and allows the cleaner to loosen up the soil. You can even scrub the floor with a deck brush during this time. After that you dry the floor with phase two.

@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 6 жыл бұрын
Ha! Now that's a long story. Basically, I kinda fell into it by accident. I was fired from a local air conditioning company for my reluctance of crawling under houses. My wife had started cleaning homes on the side to bring in a little extra income and since I was unemployed I figured I would give her a hand. Here we are 12 years later and I am still unemployed lol. What kept me in cleaning, was after doing some number crunching, I was making more money cleaning part time then when I was working full time at the air condition place! Or working full-time at any job for that matter.

That a really interesting story, buy the way - I wish you the best of success - and you really should think of getting into some sort of comedy work part time - to see if you like it - you just seem like you have a little something in you that people would like. Just a tip. Good night! - Rob

I'd like to learn more about the chemicals involved with mop cleaning. I don't know how to determine what's good and what's not. I know he mentioned a few, but I'd like to learn more details about why those or how to use them properly.

Do you have a video on how to clean mop head especially when its entangled with stray hairs?
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 7 жыл бұрын
Sure don't. The only thing you can do is use the cleaning technique in the video or pull them out one by one with your fingers. I don't recommend putting mop heads in the washing machine because I hate having to untangle all the strands. You can avoid getting alot of hair in the mop by sweeping of vacuuming the floors first before you begin mopping. Good luck!

do you use the mop to mop the whole area in one go or do we have to rince it in clean water and THEN dampen it in soap water?
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what your question is. You just have to change the water as needed. Once the water becomes dirty you have to change it to continue mopping. If the floor is very dirty it might take 3-4 buckets of water to get it clean.

How do you clean/sanitize the string mop for your cleaning business.... or does everyone get their own ??.. I'm just wondering because I've been struggling finding what mop to use in my own. Thank you!

Just check my channel. I have a video about how to actually clean the mop itself, or just type "how to clean a mop" into the search bar on youtube and you will find my video.

Is there a level 3 cleaning? Never mopped anything before, but I bought a house recently, and then I got hit with a flood. My basement is like an alluvial plain.

Boild, tap hot or cold water to mop, that is the question. I generally prefer to use boiled water to mop but heard this is a myth and not necessary. I was taught to use boiling cleaning in a residential home, it was policy & personally I like to as I feel it will help kill germs between washing the mop head if poured over to soak in the bucket just before using it & it is obviously habit to some degree. The only time I don't is if there is obvious grease. It is also very could when using bleach. I also don't keep my boiler on a very high temp for water, so this is another reason. On top of this if you use it soon after the floor drys faster, like dishes when washing up as as the water evaporates faster. Plus I use essential oils sometimes and it disperses the fragrance better again through evaporation like an oil burner to some degree I change the water between room or too up with more freshly boiled water. Probably in my head but I just like to do so, plus I don't drink tea or coffee so my kettle needs some use 😂

Question! How frequently should you mop floors? What if its a high traffic area but I don't want to let it get to the point that it needs a level 2 mop?
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 8 ай бұрын
For a high traffic area I would give it a quick mop once a week.

Mr. Fuzzball's best role yet! At first he wasn't getting much dialog, but action is always a fine way to show off an actor's skills. That dreaming he did, wow, even Kevin Costner could not top that. Seriously, though, Mr. CWC Guy, I have 2 questions. 1. With Method 2, when floors are very dirty, why no rinsing? I am curious. 2. Not related, this is an awful thing to admit, but there is mold in a plastic shower stall [cough], uh, at the employee gym at work. Yeah -- that's where it is. What do you recommend? Thank you. Very much looking forward to the hardwood floor video!
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Miss Donna! Yes ma'am you do want to rinse the mop with method 2 that's why I mentioned you may need to go through several buckets of water. Rapidly spinning the mop is how you rinse it. Apart from that once the water gets dirty you have to change it out. As far as the mold problem is concerned. Mold is bacteria. Nothing kills bacteria better than bleach. I would say spray it thoroughly with bleach a few times, let it sit for a while, then just rinse away the bleach.
@DonnaAskins
@DonnaAskins 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mr. CWC Guy! I meant, rinse the floor. Will do on the bleach. I mean, I will tell my employers about the bleach. I'm sure they will take care of it quickly and completely :D
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 7 жыл бұрын
Well you can't really rinse the floor. You continually rinse the mop and collect all the dirty water from the floor with it.That's why you have to ring it out as dry as possible over and over. All the dirt from the floor will be in that water you are collecting if you scrubbed and let that cleaner work. You can mop the floor more than once if that makes you feel better. Give it an initial mop, clean up all the dirty water, then go back and repeat the process again.

Just to be a pain, no, mold is not bacteria. It is a completely different organism. And there are hundreds of different kinds of molds, and probably thousands of different kinds of bacteria.

Thomas, great videos sir 👍🏼 Serve just switched from laminate floors to ceramic tile all over. Should I ditch my microfibre flat spray mop and go back to string mop? Tiles seem ok with the flat mop, but maybe because they are still be new?

@@CleanWithConfidence gotcha, so flat mop isn't bad per se, but string mop just way better !
@CleanWithConfidence
@CleanWithConfidence 4 жыл бұрын
@@the_judge_8262 A string mop will do better a getting down in the grout lines. That's really the only difference. Also, string mops are better for really dirty floors. Flat mops are more for maintenance type work.
