CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) accuses U.S. President Bennett (Donald Moffat) of orchestrating a cover-up that cost American lives.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
This is the third film based on Tom Clancy's high-tech espionage potboilers starring CIA deputy director Jack Ryan. Harrison Ford, returning to the Ryan role after his first go-round in 1992's Patriot Games, is assigned to a delicate anti-drug investigation after a close friend of the President (a Reaganesque Donald Moffat) is murdered by a Colombian drug cartel. When Ryan discovers that the President's wealthy friend was in league with the cartel, the President's devious national security adviser (Harris Yulin) and an ambitious CIA deputy director (Henry Czerny) send a secret paramilitary force into Colombia to wipe out the drug lords. The force is captured and then abandoned by the President's lackeys. It falls to Ryan to enter Colombia and rescue them, aided only by a renegade operative named Clark (Willem Dafoe), with both his life and career on the line.

Cast: Harrison Ford, Donald Moffat

Clear and Present Danger did happen in real life. When Clancy wrote it he based it off of Watergate. Escabato is based off of Killing Pablo Escabar, Cortez is based off of Che or Popeye both served with Escabar on his staff, Ritter is based off of Gordon Libby the infamous Watergate robber, Cutter is based off of HR Haldamen the director of the NSA, the president is based off of Nixon who would resign over the same crimes, Rainbow 6 and John Clark are based off of Seal Team 6 and Mattis, and Jack Ryan is based off of President Bush who would assume the president 16 years after Nixon resigns. Bush did the same thing Jack Ryan did he confronted Nixon over Watergate, Escabar, Che, and the death of the Seals in Grunada. Nixon lost it said the same thing this president said and Bush told Nixon to resign. After Bush and Goldwater talked to him on August 8, 1974 at 8 PM EST Nixon resigned and was removed from the oval office.

(Jack 🚶 steps in to the President's Oval 🏢 Office; Grandfather ⏰ clock chiming) The President: Jack! I'm glad you're here. Sit down. Can I get you anything? Jack: 👎 No. The President: Come on, sit down. Jack: I would perfer to stand, sir. (Jack walks around and perfers to stand; put his ✋ hands behind his back) The President: Some things have gone on here that I'm just becoming aware of. I was kept in the dark, as you were, for a very long time; troubling things. Jack: Yeah. The President: And now we have to sort them out. We have to figure out who is responsible for what and what to do about it; and we have to do this very delicately, otherwise people might get the wrong 💡 idea. Jack: We have to lie. The President: Did I say that? Jack: 👎 No, you didn't. The President: You're upset. Jack: I'm upset. The President: Well, it's understandable. Do you mind if I give you a bit of advice? Of course, you know this because you're a smart 👦 guy; you should never make important decisions while you're upset. Jack: You did; and 🇺🇸 American soldiers and innocent civilians are dead because of it. The President: I never ordered any-- Jack: 👎 No! Don't you even think about playing that 🎮 game with me. I will not let you dishonor their memories by pretending you had nothing to do with it! The President: How dare you come in here and lecture me? Jack: How dare you, sir?! The President: (Stands ☝ up) How dare you come into this 🏢 office and bark at me 👍 like some little junkyard 🐕 dog?! I am the President of the United 🇺🇸 States! Jack: It gives me 👎 no pleasure to do it, sir. As acting Deputy Director of Intelligence, it is my duty to report this matter to the Senate Oversight Committee. The President: You're not gonna do that. Jack: I'm not? The President: Oh, 👎 no, 👎 no. You've got yourself a 🍟 🍪 chip in the big game 🎮 now. (The President 🚶‍♂️ walks over and around to Jack) You're gonna tuck that away. You are going to save that for a time ⏲ when your own a$s is on the line. And then you're gonna pull it out and I'm gonna 💸 cash it in for you; right? (Jack 🔐 locks eyes with the President) Jack: I don't think I have anything more to say to you, sir. (Jack turns his back on the President) The President: The 🇺🇸 country can't afford another scandal, Jack. To protect itself, it won't allow the possibility of another deception that goes all the way to the top. (The President walks and points to Jack) You'll take the blame. Cutter and Ritter will take some, too, but it won't amount to much; they'll get a slap on the wrist and then $20,000 an hour on the lecture circuit. (Jack walks away from the President) The rest of the blame will fall on Greer. Oh, yeah; you'll take him down with you. (The President walks and faces Jack) You'll destroy his reputation. But that's as far as it'll go. The old Potomac Two-step, Jack. Jack: I'm sorry, Mr. President. I don't 💃 dance. (Jack exits and leaves the President's Oval 🏢 Office)

Always thought it was kind of cool that the climax of the movie isn't the action sequence a few minutes earlier, but Harrison Ford getting angry at the President of the United States.

This scene almost dramatizes what is going on about Benghazi and the four dead Americans because of it. Where is Jack when you need him?
