Hey there Charlie. I have not heard much positive about the crappie bite lately. Your best bet from shore is probably fishing the canals in the State Park or off the fishing pier down at Redbud. Good luck.

Thanks! Do crappie (or bass) ever move into Kelsey creek at your backyard?

One year we went to the State Park and Kelsey Creek was loaded with bass and crappies spawning, then another year we went and nothing. It depends on the time of year in that area.

Our creek is one of the main hitch spawning routes. Yes, at any given time the creek has bass, suckers, blackfish, hitch, and I’ve seen kids catch trout. A few crappie but not very often.
