Love the single hook, that is all i use on dead bait, size 4 Drennan Micro Barb Specialist. Hooks the pike every time in the scissors. Pike Friendly, hook out in seconds, no problem.
@Leonf123 Жыл бұрын
Super specialist is a good pattern but the gape isn’t very wide , strong wire though . I have had the wide gape specialists on livebait rigs and they smash it . Strong wire carp hooks are good too

Hi Graeme, Great job. I don't have a favourite fish to catch. I concentrate on learning different set ups and improving my knowledge. I also opt for quite challenging spots wherever i go whether it be Sea or Freshwater Fishing. I get a lot of satisfaction from that. I never make it easy for myself and when i don't catch it doesn't matter to me, but when i do it's doubly satisfying. I just enjoy the whole experience and that's what makes it great. Cheers, Steve in Fife.

within minutes from my home I can catch or try to catch,the pike's smaller cousin the Chain Pickerel, runs, jumps and according to some ,puts up a better scrap than a pike much larger than he ever gets.Down the street fishing with lures with a single hook and crushed barb for easy release and the joy of seeing them toss the lure while in midair!
@TAFishing7 жыл бұрын
No joy for me when a pike tosses the lure in the air ...it means I'm not attached to it and so there's no film !! I've also caught "Mr Chain blue pickerel" in the States on my trips.

TAFishing Thanks for the reply Graeme and Mike,I must say that I found it quite disconcerting when fresh water bass,trout,and other gamesters got off that way,but far worse to lose a fish without having seen it!I feel they've earned their freedom when going airborne,though it truly doesn't happen that often.Continued success and best wishes!

Another great video from TAF. People laugh at me fishing for Zander, Pike and big Carp with just a 1.1/4lb Avon rod. I just direct them to these videos. If Graeme can do it with a old John Wilson Avon rod why do you need a broomstick 3.5lb rod ?. One thing i would like to raise is can you tell us what strength lines and hook sizes on your videos.
@adamturner28367 жыл бұрын
Iain De Angler there's a reason for different test curves obviously .. how you meant to control a big fish on soft rods if they decide to get in snags etc .. you use which ever rod is suitable to the fish and situation your fishing .. not all waters are as clear sided and snag free as these waters on these vids .. I use 9ft 3lb rods for most of my fishing and it suits a wide range of fish and sizes ..
@WestSussexBiker7 жыл бұрын
"not all waters are as clear sided and snag free as these waters on these vids" hence why a 1.1/4 rod was only needed. Am not a pond Fisher and only river fish so i do understand about snags and the need sometimes for a beefier rod.

Why test curve do you need for pike and would 3and 1/2lbs test curve carp rods be ok
@krisreddin49997 жыл бұрын
+Harry Furlong I used my 10ft 3lb test curve fox carp rods for dead baiting, they cast the bait out fine as you need something stiff but they do spoil the fight a little if you catch jacks as they're a bit overkill

@stin111117 жыл бұрын
Graeme, love your channel, love your content, but it hurts to see your channel isn't growing very fast. I think some different type of content may help for growth. Please do some lure fishing contents, do a few gear reviews (rods/lures/lines/hell even sunglasses maybe), I know your guys work with any gear and yes they all work the same, but it will be good for people want to get some advice on gear choice if you do a few reviews on what you guys think is the best gear for certain price range, both people starting and looking for upgrade will find those content useful. You have friends in tackle shop, right? maybe work with them so you can get a good range of selection of gears to loan so they won't cost you. You had a few good lure test/explanation videos, love them, but 'cos your gears are so old, it's really hard to buy the ones you showed. Do a few modern ones maybe? :) Would also love to see a few more tutorial videos such as difference between different type rods, reels, how each type tide lead works, etc. Anyways, hope your channel grows more and more :) good luck!

Which are better for pike: bottom rigs or float rigs
@3cupcakes1man7 жыл бұрын
bothwork great because pike pick up and hold dead bait for a few moments before moving off, it's more down to the conditions your in and your preference. If im fishing a big, deap lake il use a ledger (bottom rig) but if im fishing in a slow patch on a river ill use a float, hope this helps

@TAFishing7 жыл бұрын
I do it with the walk-around GoPro and the sound is never as good as the big camera,which is heavy. I make a lot of these films on my own and believe me I am doing my best.There is no film crew on this one,and I have to catch the fish as well.All in one afternoon.

@TAFishing7 жыл бұрын
No,they are under immense pressure anyway ,so we hope to put them back .If we killed them we would have nothing left to fish for.Pretty much all our basic fish are under pressure,except for carp,which are all over the place. I have seen a decline in our pike stocks even over the last ten years. And commercial pike fisheries,where they are stocked intentionally and lots of small fodder fish put in don't seem to be the norm here yet.Maybe in the future they will be.
