Thanks a million for you videos - they’re awesome! 💎 I’ve made a few videos about how we code and build our products in our start-up! It’s been amazingly helpful to see how you break down interviews! I’m considering of making a video on how we’ve been applying your content at our start up! 🙏🏼 🔥

Hey Clement, I bought AlgoExpert a couple of months ago, and I really like the product. I wanted to ask if it violates TOS to solve an AlgoExpert problem in a video or livestream? Or really, more importantly than TOS, is it okay with you for me to use your product in a video? I do not want to upload myself watching a video explanation, just me trying to solve a problem. Thanks for your time.

To my knowledge FB score you also for testing abilities. They expect a candidate to "dry run" the code during the interview and find possible bugs, if any. You're expected to do so even if not being asked by the interviewer.
@clem
@clem 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. In an effort to simplify things, I usually lump testing into problem-solving ability, but yes, it's definitely something to think about and that can be "graded" separately sometimes.

Hey Clement, what is your opinion on the level of DSA knowledge required for different engineering roles? Like Mobile/front end Developer may not require that extent of DSA knowledge as compared to a backend developer. How do they prepare for FANG then?
@clem
@clem 3 жыл бұрын
For FAANG interviews, these types of engineers still need roughly the same amount of knowledge in DSA. The only difference is that they'll likely have fewer DSA interviews and maybe 1 or 2 specialized interviews in their niche instead (like frontend interviews for developers specifically interviewing for frontend interviews).

so the people who do LeetCode problems get a 4 and may be able to get in. The people who can think really well may get a 3 and not get in. Human has created a system that is treating humans like a number, similar to how robots will see human in the future. Actually, the robot may see humans in a more fair way than this is this human a 3 or 4 system

Something I've always been confused about is the part where you say "thrives under ambiguity". Abiguity where exactly? What I understand from ambiguity is something to potentially be confusing. How does one thrive in confusion?
@KurtVanBever
@KurtVanBever 3 жыл бұрын
You are right. It indeed has something to do with being confused. Allow me to explain : "Thriving under ambiguity" means that you continue moving forward, even when you don't know (or are uncertain about) the solution. The opposite of "thriving under ambiguity" is called : "analysis paralysis" . It means that you keep analyzing the problem to no avail. It's when you develop a solution and find some flaws in it. You keep trying to correct the flaws, but every time you do you, new flaws emerge. And this becomes an endless cycle. So "thriving under ambiguity" means that you feel comfortable when things don't immediately work out like you had planned. It means that you can easily switch lanes and try an other approach, look at things from a different angle.

@@KurtVanBever Thank you for this. Explains a lot. I'm currently learning driving anda relation that just formed in my head is that indian drivers must be pros at this. There is a lot of confusion and expert switching of lanes involved. No wonder we are perceived as really smart😂
@KurtVanBever
@KurtVanBever 3 жыл бұрын
@@muskanvaswan6382 I guess Indian traffic navigation requires some next level chaos mastery 🤣 But all jokes aside, it's at least conceivable that fast decision making in traffic might have a positive influence on analysis in coding. Anyways, I hope you get that driving permit soon. Just try to stay safe in traffic😊 .

@@clem at least I tried...The recruiter emailed me learning resources, and unless that is something every no intern hire gets, the interviewers probably thought I knew little about DSA. The hardest part for me was applying bfs algorithm to an adjancncy list, and my interviewers probably didnt like that I asked for help often (i.e. asking if what I was doing was right or not).
