One thing I realized about the story of this song- the attackers didn’t have a knife (“Someone get a knife!”) ...Draco was the one who stabbed Maria, probably as she rushed towards him, not realizing who she was....

The way I saw it is that Draco was some sort of stalker who wanted Maria, but she didn't really want him and her family completely dissaproved of her. The only voices we hear are Draco's and Maria's brothers. The brothers, in Draco's eyes, always talk as one mob and they constatntly try to undermine the rrlationship Draco thinks he has with Maria. The one time Maria speaks in this song (draco love...), it is actually the voice of her brothers. So Draco thinks that isn't Maria saying it, but her being forced to say it by her brothers. Draco decides to fight the brothers. Before Draco even told Maria he would kill them if they didn't allow him and Maria to be together at which point Maria persumably runs away from him. So as Draco is fighting the brothers he acccidentaly, or maybe even on purpose, stabs Maria. In the end, the brothers get revenge on Darco by killing him.

​@@WhiteDragonTile Sorry for this wall of text. I read your theory and it made me want to think of and post my own. I tend to see it as a more modern telling of Romeo and Juliet. Having this thought, my mind associates the opening lines as having implied that Draco either killed or indirectly got somebody from Maria's family/gang killed (or they could just be associating a death to him due to him being around and their rivalry) and thus her family views Draco as having "Blood on his hands" and why they would want him dead as well as question "Why is he on our block?". Draco initially seems hopeful that the families will come to accept their relationship and not question it over time (Your brothers will see through the lie, tomorrow they won't ask why) but over time the separation makes his view change from that over to "If they can't accept our love and try to get in our way, I'll kill every last one who gets in the way." (I die everyday, when you hide away. I don't want to fear.... Their Rivalry). Eventually Draco and Maria attempt to run off together which leads to both families hunting them down (After all is said and done, you'll both be on the run, and we'll find you.) The final conflict is an interesting one. I'm assuming Maria's side finding them thus questioning Draco (Just what was your plan, you arrogant man) you also hear the line (He was with the whore) so maybe Maria's family/gang have gotten sick of her love for an enemy and have turned to insults towards her because of it. It could also be both sides found them as well. They beat down Draco which he survives and upon hearing Maria "We were never meant to live this lie" it pushes him into murder mode to try and get rid of those in their way. The ending I'm not even fully sure my thoughts on. It could be that as he is fighting these people Maria can't stand seeing him this way and attempts to get in between him and somebody else causing her to be stabbed accidentally by Draco. It could also have been that somebody from Maria's group accidentally stabbed her. If it's Draco accidentally stabbing her then the "And I ran and ran and ran and ran" line could be him running away and ultimately taking his own life because he'd rather die than live without her. If it was one of her group that did it, it was him running to her side and again taking his own life in order to not live without her and to join her in death.

Well the song its self doesnt require any context of the game, The Opera Draco and Maria is an opera in the world of FF6 that the cast has a small adventure in the opera house you also have to play through the opera as one of your characters to trick a kidnapper Setzer so you can steal his air ship. This song has no bearing on the plot of final fantasy 6 but it IS based on the play in ff6, which is mostly romeo and juliet the play its self is also parodied in UnderTale during the HotLands
