If I could like this video 100 times I would! I play the regular HB launchers from 2018 on Marks recommendation. It’s so funny to me that we as golfers have adopted “help” in our putters i.e. mallet heads, high MOI as well as in our Drivers i.e. moveable weights and bigger heads. However most golfer refuse to do this in their irons. I got sick and tired of duffing my 5 iron and switched. I’m never going back.

selkowbc good points here, but I think contact (less duffs etc) is only one bit while ball flight is the other. When you swing at Marcs Speed (and some) but deliver way more dynamic loft, that ball is never coming back down, esspecially with wind. Blades help with your ball flight here but makes you get some awful contacts. Speed changes things and loosing balls despite of a good hit because wind got the best of it is not fun either. I gamed hybrids up to 6 and blades down to 2, cant say what I like more. Going into p790 for next year, because I will probably not change my swing succesfully ;-)

Makes sense to me. I play with a set of Taylormade hybrids myself. I obtained the # 8 & # 9 in these HB launchers so I would have a 34.5 degree and a 39 degree club for the shorter distances and some chipping. Nice combination.

I have tried to be a "purist" since taking up golf. Always playing blade irons: and constantly struggling with consistency. Still have a set of blades that I use maybe 3-4 times per year. Currently in my 60's; have lost that conceit for the thin top line. Now have a 5-SW set of HB turbo irons - - - - and love them. Golf is about having fun. This equipment is a benefit to my game. I have the graphite R-shafts. Easy swinging, generally a softer feel with a click at contact. Cleveland make nice gear. Many thanks.

OK, gentlemen... you've put together one of the best club analysis videos I've ever seen. Your choice of camera angles, detailed discussions on clubhead construction and what that means in results, analysis of the golfer's impression of the club at address based on the visual of the topline he's getting, and finally the statistical comparison to what they're currently hitting are nothing short of excellent. It's June 2020 and in July I'll be 68. I've been thinking of getting new clubs, but custom fit this time around. I'll be going to a Cleveland Golf Authorized Dealer for that, and I'll be indicating that I'd like them to look at this model as a good fit for me and my game. I had sort of selected the Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo irons based on my research, but this video cemented my pick. Top notch work here, mates! Many thanks.

I love this style of club, I recently purchased a set of Tour Edge HL4 ironwoods that are similar. Being 53 years old and relatively new to golf I find them much easier to hit and help with club position at address. I’ve tried taking up the game in the past and have always been frustrated with the game until I found a set of clubs like these. My scores went from shooting 110 down to the mid to high 80’s by me changing to this style of golf club. Great videos, keep them coming...

Chris I bought a HL4 PW iron-wood to add to a 1/2 set of their older Bazooka iron-woods. I think the HL-4 is very similar in feel and looks to these Cleveland HBLT's. Performance was similar. The Bazookas are more hybrid like, less iron shape influence.

I bought the previous generation ( HB launcher irons) after a raving review from a buddy of mine. I’m a 4 hdcp and can’t speak highly enough of them. My ability to practice the long game has diminished over the years due to other commitments ( father of 3) yet I was finding that golf was becoming a struggle and every round was becoming a handicap break even struggle. I needed something that would give me confidence to hit more green and take pressure off. I opted for these and have not looked back. My big takeaway from these irons are the following:- 1) these clubs come very upright and are not adjustable friendly, I’ve found hardly any club fitter will touch them. 2) I’ve found that bad shots are well rewarded with not much distance fall off ( especially high flails). 3) the long irons oddly are difficult to control compared to the 6,7,8,9. 4) Distance control is very good and consistent and spin numbers are good. 5) I have difficulty hitting low under trouble ( escaped shots) as they have high launch. 6) in a weird way they encourage average strikes, yes you still need ball first but if you are used to compressing the ball then it could be difficult. 7) Totally agree about peer pressure about appearance, this is a tough one to break down, however beating opponents helps Taking all the above into account, I wouldn’t swap them for anything

I couldn't agree more! If they made these in single-length, they would arguably be the easiest to hit irons ever. I had the altitude irons and I let a number of guys try them. Almost every one of them hit a better shot than what I saw them hitting with theirs. I found it interesting, and even comical at times watching people hit great shots, and then begin to 'explain' how they won't work for them. Lol

I saw a review of the Wilson Launch Pad (a very similar style/club to these Clevelands), and went in to test the Wilsons. I'm 52, am around a 20hcp, but having trouble with my GIR. Need more consistent iron play. Been hitting fat and off center too many times. I asked the salesman to suggest a similar type club for comparison. He had me try the Cleveland Launcher. I'm glad he suggested it. I went back and forth several times. Super close, but the weight, balance and overall feel of the Clevelands edged out the Wilsons, in my opinion. It felt easier to hit clean shots. That leads to confidence, and we all know the sky's the limit when you believe in yourself. Amazing! Got fitted and can't wait for them to arrive. And no, I couldn't care less how they look if they can get me into the 80s regularly.

I bought a 4 to P set, 7 clubs, 2 months ago. They were a demo set & not 1 had hit a ball. The 1st ball I hit, I was sold. RRP was $1150, I paid $550 (Australian dollars) These clubs are awesome, & due to the clubhead weight, you can hit the ball so effortlessly. Slow back swing followed by a neat & tidy forward swing & that little ball is outta sight. I would recommend them to anyone.

Maybe 12 years ago a high handicap friend of mine purchased a set of hybrid irons from Cleveland and changed his game altogether, he could then hit the ball better more often and much higher more often, he was a much happier player, I did not mind the look of them then and still can see them in my bag. I'm now in my very late 60's and have played my Cobra Fly Z irons since they came out, and still like them, but I know from this last year that my distance and high ball have taken a hit, in the bad way. These irons just might be what I need, I will send a note on to Santa, to see if they might be in my future for next year. Good video guys, thanks.

I gamed the same set but it was from the early 2000’s. It was called Cleveland XLi Hy-Bore irons. The set came with P-3 iron and it also had the lofts engraved into the club next to iron number. So for example. The PW was 46* the 7 iron was 34* and the 3iron 22*. I’ve never had an easier better set of irons when it comes to playing golf the way it should be played. I.e. no ego, least strokes wins type stuff. In fact for a while I never even considered about ever changing until I found your channel Mark back when you were geared up in full Bunker Mentality swag giving quick club reviews back at Clifton Hills. I always had the mindset that I could careless what they look like so long as they work, well the more reviews I watched, the more I fell in love with the whole eye candy of a sexy looking iron, and around the time you ditched your hideous JPX EZ’s for at first your MPH5s and then ultimately your MP5s is when I had finally convinced myself that the Hy Bore irons were just making the game too easy 🤥 And I went out and bought a beautiful set of Fourteen PC-555 irons. (many are not familiar with this brand but it is a great Japanese golf company which forges a lot of their irons through Endo (same forging plant that the one and only great Mr. Miura uses and will most likely go down in history as the very greatest, or at least one of the very best Master Club making Craftsmen the sport has ever seen. Anyways long story short, i feel like the much much smaller fourteen irons are actually helping to improve my ball striking in the long run, but when I say those HY Bore Cleveland’s were point and shoot, You will never truly understand just how easy they made the game for me until u try a set for yourself. Considering they’ve been making the same product line now for almost 15 years should speak volumes alone. But seriously. when Mark says he would game them, he 110% would. They are pin seekers.

I just recently started gaming Callaway Big Bertha irons which have a similar design, almost hybrid like. They are a far cry from the blades that I've been playing for the last 10 years. I have to admit that they are much easier to hit and super forgiving. It's taken a while to get used to the look and sound but they are helping my game. I'm hitting the ball more accurately, hitting more greens which has increased my chances at birdies and I've been making more birdies. Have had to re-calibrate my chipping because the ball definitely comes off the club quicker. I'm super happy with my choice...but it's hard to beat the look of a blade and the feel of a well struck shot. Thanks for the review guys!

I have a lot of time for Cleveland, and am still playing my old TA5 gunmetal irons. I’d struggle with these in the short irons as I like the feeling of cutting down into the ball, and in my mind these would push you more to sweep the ball. Mid to longer irons would be no issue though, and I’d be really interested to try them. To be honest I think my ideal set would be a right bunch of Frankenstein clubs, with barely anything coming from the same range or type. Love the fact that Mark uses two six irons as it properly fits with my experience

I'm a 46 old male with chronic back issues, but will not give up the game unless I can't walk. I've always played cavity back irons such as the Calloway x20's then moved into TaylorMade rsi2's. I got so tired of inconsistent ball striking that I gave these irons a try and absolutely fell in love with them. They are incredibly easy to hit with great trajectory and consistent distance/dispersion. I'm not trying to impress anyone with the looks of my clubs. I'm trying to impress my friends with better scores which will make my rounds so much more enjoyable.

Great honest objective video. There are forums online that wouldn't even have the guts to review these just based on their "high handicapper" looks. I've used this club as a long iron replacement 4, 5i. Its really a hybrid iron crossover that you can work a bit easier than full length hybrid and from Cleveland... not fly by night " as seen on TV" brand. Yes the looks and sound take some getting used to but Cleveland does a good job with blacking out the body so at address you can visualize the face without much distraction. For 2020 I notice that Cobra is now following suite with their own take on this idea. Maybe a trend for higher handicap golfers with slower swing speeds who don't want to lay out big bucks for titanium and stronger lofted clubs at $300 a pop! Would be great to see more objective reviews like this one from Mark for the good of the game! I tend to hit my irons heavy and often play on very wet fairways, the sole helps quite a bit from digging on fat shots. You don't need a full set. Very low price, give them a shot especially if you struggle with longer irons and don't want to use longer shaft length hybrids and spend big $$ on a fix. They are an excellent solution if you can get past the looks and sound and your swing speed is not what it used to be...

Any chance you can review a selection of hybrids which are most suitable for higher handicappers with slow speeds? I'd like to see a video where you talk more about what you mentioned very briefly in the last minute there - your visualization of what's happening when the club hits the ground. When I'm hitting a lot of thin shots, I'll adjust my mental task to: slam the sole of the club into the ground just in front of the ball. Of course after that's been working for a few holes I end up overcompensating and it's back to the drawing board BUT I think that might be something you don't realize the average person would benefit from knowing more about because it's engrained in how you think about the swing as a golf pro.

I used a set of the previous versions for around a year. Till my swing changed enough that they simply didn’t fit me anymore. While I had them, I loved them. Heck, my father is still using his set of them.

I've just bought these, 5-Gap wedge, along with 2 CBX2 wedges. The improvement in yardage is largely irrelevant. Because my turf interaction is poor, I'm seeing a massive improvement in the consistency of my ball striking. I suppose the only point to note is that I no longer chip with my 7 iron as I did with my Pings because of the differences in the loft. Use 8 to gap instead. Again, my chipping has improved because of the wide sole on the club. They feel like a chipper! I went to a Srixon/ Cleveland fitting day expecting to buy the UHX hollow irons, which I also think are great, but my consistency with the HB's is vastly increased.

some people are getting it wrong with these irons or at least not 100% right. It is not about ,or only about, distance and height. I hit the ball quite high even with blades and hit my 7 iron 150 meters. For me it´s about consistency, number of mihits and quality of mishits which translates into me having fun in the golf course. That´s all I want and these clubs deliver.

I just bought a 8 & 9 Iron in these. Like them quite a bit. I needed to fill a gap where my 31 degree 7 hybrid left off. I am considering getting the whole set. Great review. I agree. These are awesome!!! So YES ! I would and do game them. Now I love hybrids. Have a complete set of Taylormade one's. I love how you describe these as funky looking lol. Looks of them is just fine with me. No issues with that. Matter of fact I like the way they look and especially the way they perform !!!!!!! Mark, I can see you love these. I do too !!!!Spider Dubiel P.S. Thanks for updating these with a new review. I was hoping for that.

Thank you for the review, I am planning on purchasing a new set of irons this season and very high on these irons. Your comments concerning the base of the club and ball striking off the ground is what I am looking for. I have a tendency to chunk the ball and feel that this would help my game.

Definitely would consider these in a few years as I'm 61 now and apparently every year older after 60 we lose 1 mph in our swing speed so can see a big benefit as I age.

Hi Mark I game the Cleveland CBX irons 5 to pw the cbx wedges and use a launcher HB 4 iron and find it to be a very versatile club, longer par 3's great, longer approach shots and fantastic for chipping from off the green where the grass is a bit thick or bare lies been practicing chipping from 30 yards to just off the green gives me lots of confidence, happy golfing aussie dave

I play 3 hybrids, 24, 27 and 31 degrees. I don’t have any comparison numbers but the confidence I have standing over the ball compared to a traditional iron at these lofts is all I need. I consider myself better than the average golfer and I definitely could see a benefit of certain golfers using these types of clubs.

I've hit these on a simulator, very easy to hit and good numbers. I would game these as my next set. Right now I game Cleveland 588mt,hollow design with a forged face, great feel to them and the sole is somewhat wide as well. Cleveland has great unconventional products, I have two styles of smart square putters. They helped with my alignment and confidence.Right now I use a Cleveland Huntington Beach collection #2 blade style putter made of 304 stainless with a milled face, very soft, great for fast greens

As a student and a mid handicapper, I said in the survey that I wouldn't play these clubs, regardless of the numbers. My reason isn't that I am looking for a a brand, but focus on the fact that I am trying to learn to play the game as best I can, not just lower scores based on help I get from technology. Lower scores are awesome, of course, but I want to improve my skill to lower my score. Plus, the more help you get from the clubs, generally the less you'll be able to work the ball, so having these clubs only makes sense if you want to rely on tech to help on bad shots and not work the ball, or, in other words, never worry about advancing your game to lower your scores. Maybe when I'm happy with my game and I do with the ball what I want to do, I'd be more open to help from the clubs.

Spent some time at a local shop testing several game improvement irons on their sweet launch monitor system. Distances to the other super game improvement clubs were similar, but shot dispersion was tighter with the HB Turbos for me. Placed a special order and just waiting for them to come in (extended and more upright). Thanks for your videos and recommendation.

Wow! You've turned my brain around as an 18 Handicap player! I'd like to see the disbursement data on this club comparison. Based on a the really small sample size of your video, at your normal swing speed, Mark, you appeared to have a better disbursement with the Cleveland clubs vs. the the T-300. How about comparing the Cleveland club vs. your T-100 at your normal swing speed and show the disbursement data?! Thanks again. This was a great eye opening video!

Agreed. I went to the sterling single length irons and dropped my handicap down to 5.9. Always funny how people react when they look in my bag, and then they start paying attention to the clubs when I pull them out. "Unknown" brand, single length, jumbo grips. Almost alway get a question about them in the first 9 holes. After sticking a few close to the pin, they want to know more about where they can try them. Hoping Cobra will release a one length version of the T-Rails. I'd game them in part just to watch peoples faces as I beat them with those "ridiculous" non irons.
