Monet is my favourite of the girls costuming in the new gossip girl- she’s got a boldness that reminds me of the original made new. My only critique of her style isn’t even something she’s worn but the line where she says about Zoya “she’s wearing a headband!?” Like.. this is obviously a nod to the original series saying out with the old and in with the new etc I get that. But I have to believe even the most cynical of gen z teen is more likely to wear a headband than they are to wear a tweed blazer and a bow tie

Don’t get me wrong I get that style is kind of cyclical and people don’t want to look like the gen before them, and millennials who turn 30 lose their minds because some jaded 14 year old told them their skinny jeans aren’t cool anymore. So in that way I do get it I just never believed that headbands were particularly uncool or cool except on Blair

really great research! especially found the research into chokers and preppy uniforms insightful. i think showing these visuals side by side Monet’s added a great engaging touch. The Freudian trio angle is certainly also a very niche exploration with fashion and character analysis beyond the typical Golden Trio. My only nit picking is the audio editing, though I believe this is a skill learned with time and practice! I want to hear your enthusiasm that’s so evident in your research and notes and visuals in your voice as well! I want to be excited to hear your narration versus opting to pause and read the transcript because the VO and text paragraphs are telling me the same information. Thank you, I appreciate it. No, I will not be making a habit of revising old videos. I only did so with Blair since I received requests on a daily basis to the point where I could not upload without it being brought up. The Jenny analysis is up and working with proper audio, editing, etc- in my opinion, it is fine as is. I won’t be remaking the same videos over and over again. It is a lot of work and not healthy for me to push myself in this manner. I hope this is understandable

She seems to be getting more character development now, but I'm still not completely sold on Monet just yet. At least with Blair and Serena, they were actually friends and you could see many of the reasons for why Blair acted as she did. Monet was just cruel and rude for zero reason. I also am not crazy about her barefaced disrespect for her teachers. Even Blair saw the need to play nice whenever we saw her teachers. Plus, Monet only saw Julien as a meal ticket instead of an actual friend, which could have been more intriguing with better show writers.

I hope we'll see more of her character. I see a lot of people saying that she's their favorite character, but I can't get on that. I just feel like she isn't nuanced enough. All we really saw of her is just a rude, classist rich kid. The only thing outside of that was her exploring her sexuality. Which is great but not a personality trait. Hopefully, the show will give us more of her background and other bits of her personality. I feel the same way with Luna, who we also didn't see that much of.
