Very cool for Spiders to sponsor you! Your videos were instrumental to me purchasing Greedfall.

This video is criminaly under liked. Ive watched 2 other tips videos before this one, this was the most concise, explained the mechanics then better and more nuanced then theothers and even shorter. Great video!

Frankly speaking, I'm having A TOTAL BLAST playing this game now, I never expected its combat to be that complex, fun, and engaging! The setting is gorgeous as well, the music (oh, the main menu theme man!) hits hard, and the visuals are pretty good, too! Yes, the animations (especially human NPCs) are... weak, the performance isn't the smoothest, but I'm really enjoying it to my surprise. Personally, it's probably my biggest Soulslike sleeper hit atm, not to mention it feels not as punishing as, say, Sekiro or LoP but every combat encounter feels just as thrilling (if not more) than in those games. I would even go this far, and call the combat in Steelrising as good as the combat in The Surge 1 & 2, and Bloodborne, with all three sharing the same 'first' place in my imaginary top, haha.

my opnion is pretty much the same, im midway high. What i disliked most (so far) were the maps- France and that age is an awesome idea, but ive been to like 3 areas of paris that have samey-ish streets to me, with similarly dark and muddy pallettes. That however is my only complaint. And im freaking love the weapons, im grinding more just so i ccan experiment across the board

You can sprint infinitely without losing endurance. Just spam up on the D-pad to switch weapons while sprinting. I just noticed this while playing 😁

Hated this game in the beginning but really grew to like it, surprisingly well written. The lack of enemy and progression variation at the back end is really testing my motivation to finish though.

Looks like I'll have to support this game. I always complain about "too many swords; where are the claws?" The aesthetics don't quite speak to me. Especially the Ben Franklin claws. Which are not claws and are merely assigned to the claw weapon type. I always have to question whether these people like the weapon types they are designing in many games whenever melee weapons that aren't swords are used. Axes that don't look like axes, claws that don't look like claws, and morningstars/maces that look like furnishing (in other games). The fans seem fine. I'm glad to have them; they're even rarer than claws.

Make sure if it feels clunky and stuttery disable vsyn and bump to montior frame rate. Sounds obvious but it kept changing when I'd login. It is one of the smoothest games I've played when native!

Combat has never been their strong suit, so I find it odd that this is the type of game they decided to develop. Maybe it was to improve on that front and challenge themselves?

The setting is nice. But everytime one of these "souls-like" releases, they almost always feel like a carbon copy of Fromsoftware games. Sure take inspiration, but build on top of that, don't just imitate.
@inquerion88672 жыл бұрын
Why should they innovate, when basic Souls formula still sells very well?
@DonnieDisasters2 жыл бұрын
I played this one and.... ...it was surprisingly excellent!!! I highly recommend it.

Usually when people take the souls formula and try to innovate is usually when they screw it up.

Imo, "Souls-like" games are better than the Soulsborne games. You know what really are carbon copies of FromSoftware games? FromSoftware games (except for Sekiro)! Almost all of their games since Dark Souls have basically been the same game.
@histhoryk26482 жыл бұрын
When I can appreciate setting but... another souls-like, really? Does now every RPG must either a sandbox or Souls-like, is that difficult to do something new in this genre? I'm not that type of masochist who enjoys the game that will display 90% of time "You Died"
@CantTreadOnMe2 жыл бұрын
Im not trying to be a jerk just trying to share my perspective. Souls was a very popular and defining game and everyone wants to take a stab at it. It's a sub genre now so get used to it. There are tons of games releasing that arent Souls like but im not on there saying omg another rpg that isnt like souls!? Millions of people love Souls and want the sun genre so of course developers are gonna try and carve out a slice of the genre. I personally hated Greedfall but I accepted it wasnt for me but I like Steel Rising so they just made a game that appealed to a whole different gamer which is good because they are diversifying their portfolio of games and growing their player base which is good business. Steel Rising is the first game I ever liked from this developer. Alot of Souls likes arent great but we have been seeing more and more good ones which means more developers are getting what makes a Souls game so great. So for me I appreciate this game and the more Souls likes the better cuz it's literally all I like in the rpg space.
@inquerion88672 жыл бұрын
I agree, but expect even more Soulslike clones in the future after Elden Ring financial success. This genre just sells very well.
@gigelfranaru2 жыл бұрын
Compared to any soulsborne Steelrising is quite easy tho. It's a good intro into this genre.

It's because developers are afraid to truly innovate. Plus, Souls games are easy to crank out without much thought or effort. Have hard hitting enemies and a clunky combat system, and there's your recipe for an entire game.

Anything that appears on steam with the "female protagonist" tag I instantly press that ignore button. Toxic incels rise up.
@Darcnhife2 жыл бұрын
What? That's so weird. I'm fine with female leads as long as long as if there is romance, the romance isn't automatically with a male. Which tends to be a game designed for the female audience in mind. The romance and boys love genre in web comics is actually rather huge. I thought nothing of the feminine automaton. It didn't stand out for me.
