Hey Evan! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Good question! Before showing the List field inside your List view, you have to enable the Task in Multiple Lists ClickApp. To do this, click on your Workspace avatar and locate "ClickApps." Enable the Task in Multiple Lists. Go back to your List view and click on the + sign. Then, instead of creating a field, select Show/Hide and scroll until you see "Lists." Click on it, and the column populates in your List view. I hope this helps!

Hi Layla! Thanks for this video! Thinking of implementing with my team but am curious, if I create a list like this that all team members have access to, create a "Tasks" relationship field so team members can link tasks to the OKR/KPI list, how does this work from an overview perspective if not all team members have access to all the lists where the tasks are coming from? If a team member visits the OKR list afer everyone has been using this for a bit, what do they see: Only tasks that are are available workspace wide? Or tasks but can't click on them if they don't have the proper permissions? I'd like them to see there are tasks there but not be able to open the linked record if permission isn't available.

Hey Monica! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Great question! If you edit the team members' "Sharing and Permission" not to have access to the List where the linked tasks are coming from - the relationship column will appear blank from the List view. For team members to see the linked tasks in the relationship column, they must have permission to access the List. Some alternatives that come to mind are using a web custom field to paste the task URL as a linked field. The URL will be visible, but only people with access will see the tasks if the permissions are restricted.

“Part 2” Video request: Scheduling deadlines for OKRs & tactics, serving as checkpoints leading up to a deadline set for Goals. I imagine a video like that would use the exact same structure explained in this video but with some add-ons like Dependencies for granular structure, Gantt/Timeline views for scheduling at a birds-eye perspective, and for putting the plan into action: how those tasks would show up in our daily Home agenda or weekly Calendar view. If a video like this already exists please let me know. For context, this video on OKRs & task Relationships has become a huge help for me. Now I understand how my goals can both fit into my main calendar and present themselves neatly inside of a List view. I was having a reoccurring issue where past-me would schedule a deadline for a “goal” task without also scheduling tactics as tasks leading up to that goal. The goal would eventually come around on my Home agenda for the day and I would realize how much I had shot myself in the foot by not scheduling “reminder” tasks in the days prior, like OKRs or tactics. Now I know that I should be scheduling OKRs and checkpoints for those types of instances. It breaks the goal down into small digestible daily pieces. I would just like to see it a step further using dependencies, gantt views, and weekly home agendas. I believe that a part 2 to this would help ClickUp newbies like myself understand the power of this process, using OKRs in a practical way. I know you would be just the right person to explain all of that with your experience using ClickUp. I think it would bring in a lot of newbies too by using the friendly terms you did with this video, like “goals” or “checkpoints.” That’s what brought me here with my problem and now it’s solved thanks to you Layla. Keep on rockin’!

Layla, is there a way to show progress on the tactics? So from this OKR view, we can see Objective 1 > Key Result 1 = 50% complete, because 2/4 of the tasks in the Tactics field are complete? Also, I'm finding it's REALLY slow to add tasks to tactics because I can't search! and it also doesn't save the last location I added a task from... any tips? Thank you!

Yes, the Progress (Auto) custom field will summarize Subtask completion. Note: It doesn't currently work with SUB-subtasks (nested subtasks) just one layer. You could also use Dependency relationships to get a similar result to above. :)

Hey Abdul! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 Good question! If you need Milestones in different lists, perhaps for team collaboration, you can use Subtasks in Multiple Lists. You can use Tasks in Multiple Lists if your Milestones are Parent tasks. Milestones show key points in projects, so if you need these tasks visible in different locations, I recommend using this feature.

Hi Layla - I can't really use relationships for recurring tasks for goals. This is perfect actually and I realized I did something similar when I tried to create a task plan for a course I'm studying but how can I move something along if the bigger rock is triggered by a task that won't be related to it anymore tomorrow? For example I have a goal of drink vitamins for 365 days. Maybe you have ideas?

Great question! You can use the @@mention feature to mention the Rock task inside the trigger task description. This will show the triggering task inside the Rock task "References" section (by the relationship). This is assuming that your recurring task copying over the task description each time it recurs.

I'm struggling to create a Project Management timeline within ClickUp. Basically, I'm looking for a way to chronologically create a timeline of goals, each dependent on the previous one that is laid out in a visually appealing way. Obviously, I could just make a bunch of contingent tasks, but that isn't really easy to see, or present to a client. Other than kluging something together on PowerPoint, does ClickUp offer any solutions for easy visual timeline views of tasks and goals?

Hey Spencer! Just getting caught up on comments 🙈 Great question! I recommend creating your goals in a list of tasks, then adding your dependencies. Make sure to turn on the Reschedule Dependencies App in your Workspace. Then, create a Gantt view to present to your client. Inside the Gant view, you can view a timeline of the duration of projects; you can manage the dependencies by enabling the "Reschedule dependencies" and moving them to change due dates around the dependent tasks. Typically, it'll show you the most recently accesses tasks at the bottom, and instead of clicking "add," you can select the tasks and add them to the relationship field.

I have tried to impliment this, however I can't relate one of the subtask OKRs to a task (viewed from the task side), it is only showing the top level task (Big picture theme) , however when done from the OKR side I can see the subtasks around my workspace. Any ideas?

I find goals in ClickUp a bit clunky and not yet properly implemented. No way to edit goals, no way to duplicate a target. All this makes the use of an inherently good idea too cumbersome for me

Adding relationships for OKR's really doesn't make a lot of sense to me... The relationships just overcomplicate things. Think about this for a moment, if you're viewing a list that has just key results or tactics, those things belong to various topics or rather OBJECTIVES, as a result of that, navigating a huge list of key results or tactics just looks like a big mess. What really matters is the objective at hand. It's easier to think about an objective and determine what needs to be done for that objective rather then to try and sift through a massive list of key results or tactics that yes have relationship fields but there is so much in that list with so many different relationships that it's just too difficult to tell what's what. Not only that, making relationships from the key results or tactics to the objective doesn't impact the overall progress completed to the main task, the objective, which in terms of progress completed, you want to probably see the overall progress made on a task and it's key results and tactics.... All in all, the entire point of a goal is to make a goal or an objective, then create key results than tactics to complete the goal. It's much easier to visually see an objective in one spot, see the dropdown arrow of nested key results and tactics, then it is to think about goals from a list cluttered with different key results that belong to a slew of different objectives. What a mess. Relationships with OKR's really don't make any sense and just make things too complicated in my opinion.
