This song is sung in French. One of 12 different languages that he has sung songs in. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. He started singing lessons at 5 years old and was found to have perfect pitch. He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz, was a major in Vogel technique. He also completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and receiving his masters with honours having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He has since started his PhD. He currently has a vocal range of over 6 octaves but he is humbly dismissive of this astounding fact and stresses that it is not the amount of both arrange you have but in fact what you do with it. He has won many prestigious awards and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He has performed songs in 12 different languages. On at least one occasion he has Hit a D8 in whistle tone for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour when the pandemic struck. His concerts are usually about 3 hours with an eclectic mix of vocal styles and genres. He was born into a musical family and both of his parents are famous singers and musicians in Kazakhstan, his mother being an operatic soprano. He was offered a position in the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turn this position down to pursue his own path in neoclassical and contemporary music. “ Sinful Passion “ will blow your mind -then every thing else he does . He was 22 here and will be 27 in May . The lyrics of SOS are heart wrenching. Every song he sings is different. Low register , middle and high are en point. Most of us in the western world love his Kazakh songs . He always sings a song he has to perform again differently each time . The man just ups himself . Someone said “ the only vocalist better than Dimash is Dimash in the future “.. Gloria Wu’s channel has English subs . We “ Dears” ( fans ) literally know the back story to every song he sings . He can also rock , rap , get funky , go “ traditional” and sings in many languages. He’s working hard on his English and we love his accent . He is doing quite well. He’s a mega philanthropist and truly humble . His music videos are first rate . He’s been coming in at #1 on MTV’s “ Friday Live Stream “. He’s a multi instrumentalist as well . It’s really nice to see artists who can play , sing , dance and own the stage . My generation had awesome bands and artists . He writes , composes , is now directing and it seems taking some acting roles ( per his videos ). He’s incredibly humble . His back up singers are gifted as well . He will always pay homage to all on stage . He did not want to be stuck in opera bc he likes all genres . Jazz also is in his blood . 6’3” tall . You’ll find many of us fans have grown to know each other world wide and we are family . * please be advised there are always the fringe who can be rude and Dimash is definitely not accepting of such behavior. He’s a man of peace and wants the world to unite . The majority ( vast majority) of us “ Dears “ are good and decent people . Because of this young man we want to be even better. On the chance one of the “ fringe “ says something crudely -definitely not who we are . It’s the net . You know how that goes. Dears from the West part of our planet, support successful voting ! Yesterday on MTV US Friday live stream we have been lost place #1 because of lack of amounts of voting Dimash's fans. It was significantly less than in previous Fridays . Dears from Eastern part of planet have difficulties with very uncomfortable time of voting - from the middle of the night to very early daybreak . Most of eastern fans are working and after hard week falk asleep during voting. Some of them confess that after 1-2 hours of voting thay lost self control and suddenly fallen asleep and in the morning realized that voting is finished and tell "sorry ". We need to be one team . If ur amazed let me put this in perspective for you: The song is in French(not his native language). He was in a singing competition in China (first time there). The competition was for established professional artist in China (Dimash was unknown at this time). The audience, which were made up of professional artists, were the judges. Dimash, from Kazakhstan, was invited as a wildcard to compete. He was the first one to perform. You just witnessed his performance. Now that you get the entirety of Dimash's position, you can see that even as nervous as he had to be, he was a beast. Truly the GOAT.

You are correct, it is not normal....except for Dimash. A man from Kazakhstan, singing a French song at a Chinese sing off. He has dedicated himself to his craft since age 5. Studying Opera, Pop and contemporary vocals for 21 years of his life. He has traveled the world in concert. You might hear him sing opera, folk (Kazak(), Michael Jackson.... He is fluent in Kazak, Russian and is getting better at English and sings in many languages. He has a 6+ octave range hitting notes above the piano keyboard and working into his bass notes. He was 22 years old here and will be 27 May 24th, 2021. His voice has only improved and expanded since this video.

There are many versions of this song that have the subtitles, try Gloria Wu’s channel. It is the SOS of an earthling in distress wondering if he could be a bird and look at this earth from above. A desperate cry for help, you can hear Dimash cry while singing... you will find a lot of info on him on Wikipedia and I am sure others have filled you in with the details. According to some French people, he didn't get the pronunciation 100% (and that has definitely improved since five years ago), but he did get the emotions of the meaning of the song spot on. I've listened to Dimash (Dee MAHSH) every day for the past three years. He's not only a gifted and hard- working vocalist, he's a great person who puts his family and country before anything else, but loves his fans as much as we love him. Hope you do a lot more. He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music. The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? Etc, I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and be surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”. Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death. Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives. Death creates in us a feelings of fear, separation, sadness and pain. Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless. If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times.
