Cliff, thanks for the work you’ve been putting in! I’ve loved how you’ve been working your way through MTBMB. Please consider working your way through Recovery next! Up until recently, I was only familiar with a couple of songs from the album…now I’m learning how amazing it really was. I can appreciate Relapse for what it was - a pivotal/vulnerable transition point where Em was literally relearning an entire craft after he’d basically received a knockout punch from life. Recovery was where he came back swinging like an actual Cinderella Man (pun may or may not be intended). Anyway, I haven’t been able to stop replaying “Cold Wind Blows” and “Talkin’ 2 Myself.” I don’t understand how those tracks didn’t blow up (well “Cold Wind Blows” is actually really vulgar, so maybe I get that 😂). I also love “Won’t Back Down.” It’s not a super bar-heavy song, but I just love how Eminem sounds rapping over a rock track. And “Space Bound” is chilling - especially if you watch the music video for it. It really infuriates me that Eminem has had such little mainstream radio play over the last 10-15 years. The rap/hip-hop that has been more mainstream over that timeframe has overwhelmingly been a cringe-inducing steaming pile of auto-tuned dog 💩. Meanwhile, up until a few months ago, I had no clue Eminem had put out anything since Bad Meets Evil’s “Hell: The Sequel.” What also really infuriates me is that I literally never would have known of KXNG Crooked’s existence if not for my recent trip down the Eminem rabbit hole 🐇 🕳. Crooked is amazing! There have been a handful of tracks where I thought Royce was almost neck-and-neck with Em, but I actually like Crooked’s verse on “Psychopath Killer” better than Em’s.

The man is a genius, simple as that. Whilst it’s impossible to recreate the raw magic of The Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP or Eminem Show I think Kamikaze and Music To Be Murdered By is some of his best work, purely in terms of the ingenuity of the wordplay, rhyme schemes and delivery

To me, Royce and Em are talking directly to Lord Jamar, they have so many lines that are completely pointed to him. King Crooked and Joell Ortiz on the other hand I think are addressing Nick Cannon and his "group" of rappers that tried to stand up to Em. Just from how they are all talking about things and making references to different things that were going on at the time When Royce says he's James Todd, Tarik Trotter "minus the cap" he could also be saying in a sly way "no cap" which to young folks means "no lie" basically or all truth. There's so many bars that have just double or triple meanings to them though, so I'm glad you were just kind of enjoying a lot of the track too. It's a great sounding track with a ton of lyrics
