Michelle Philips, the co-writer of this song & sole surviving member of the Mamas & the Papas, was blown away by this rendition of her song. She put it on their official website. The icing on the cake is in a recent interview the guitarist, Ivan Mendez, explained how raw this is. She asked if he knew the song & he said he had heard it but never tried to play it. So he spent 5 minutes going over the cord changes & learning the song. She says "just follow me" & the rest is history. Are you freaken' kidding me???

This is one where Angelina re-interprets a classic so completely that comparisons to the original make no sense. Like in her cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, Angelina doesn’t try to outdo Freddy Mercury. She just changes the ground rules. I absolutely love the Mamas and the Papas. Their unique sound exploded onto the music scene in the sixties. This song is truly iconic. Angelina doesn’t compete with that, but gives us the pure beauty of her voice and remakes the song. It’s hypnotizing.

As far as I know they just moved to California when they recorded this. So this song surely has a special meaning to Angelina. Her performance was so clear and clean in this one, they probably did one take, no cuts, and the performance was like... perfection.

What a great interpretation of the song, the original was so upbeat, from the perspective of the dream, here Angelina is giving a more subdued version, perhaps from the perspective of the reality of that cold winter day in New York. The other thing that comes to mind, in the original, the harmonies made it sound special, here Angelina fills the entire vocal space, I don't miss the harmonies...

The guitarist has no idea what song their going to perform to until a few hours beforehand. They are always filmed at night like midnight or later. He gets a message saying come to the house the next day then he spends time with the family, then they let him know what song they'll cover.

To be honest, im not sure i recommend so many Angelina reactions in such a short time. The reason is that you wont be able to absorb them, reflect and really appretiate what you hear. It more or less seem like your rushing through these reactions just to reach a goal of a certain number of reactions in a week.
