In an interview Billie said: "I sing about global warming, they call me a Satanist" :D People are stupid.
@KBRoller

People see any Biblical or religious imagery that isn't "praise the Christian god!" and they call it Satanism 🙄My dad's a fundamentalist Christian, and growing up one of my friends was a Wiccan. The number of times he said I shouldn't be friends with her because she "worships Satan" -- despite me constantly telling him Wiccans don't even *believe* in Satan -- was exhausting.

I was so against her when she first came out, and for no good reason, just thinking she was another overhyped pop star. Then I saw her perform something live and was like, Holy shit was i wrong. She is so unique and gifted it's crazy. Needless to say, I now give every artist a fair chance before casting judgement, or I guess not casting judgement, but before forming a fair opinion. Glad you're doing these, and I hope you feel better soon!

Crazy how we miss great music sometimes cause the industry controls what we hear and see. I saw her around and heard she was a big deal but I also thought she was just hype so I kinda ignored it.. But then I saw her on Hot Ones cause I love Sean and I trust him. She was so funny and so relatable I had to check out her music finally. Can't believe I was sleepin on Billie for so long. 😆

Similar for me. I didn't think much of her, just assumed another pop princess. But at some point I decided to listen to When We All Fall Asleep tracks to give her a shot, and immediately became a huge fan. She and Finneas are an amazing artistic duo!

Regarding her acting abilities, her parents are both actors/musicians, she was originally training to be a dancer until she had a bad injury that sidelined her. Her dance teacher asked her to make a song they could do a dance performance to, hence Ocean Eyes, the rest is history. Just imagine, she actually stumbled across this profession by accident.

6:30 you're wondering if she's an actor. There's a video of her somewhere on youtube in which she's about 8 years old, walking with a home video camera in hand, and directing her mother and her dog on a leash. In her documentary film, you can see her at age 17, directing her mother in yet another music video. Given these hints, I'd say she knows something about acting.😋

As a few here have said, she is fantastic in Swarm (I believe written and directed by Childish Gambino) but only for an episode. It should probably be noted that her parents were both struggling actors who met on an episode of a Law and Order type show (dont quote me here- this is me remembering a doc I watched during the panini). But they both mostly gave up acting when they got together, to make sure their kids homeschooling flourished. IMHO they did quite a good job!!

Feel better soon. Another video that shows her range is a cover of Peggy Lee’s Fever which she did at a tribute to Peggy also she also sang with Debbie Harry Is that all there is? another cover of Peggy. Songs I would recommend I just wish you were gay, any of the BBC radio one covers. Did you do Ocean eyes yet? This is a must as it was the song that got her started. She was 14. She just recently performed her 1st acting job in the series Swarm… She did a great job! It was a part where she played a cult leader. She also hosted SNL in December 2021 where she did some acting. There are videos of this here on you tube.

First of all, I hope you get well soon! Make sure you set aside time to take care of your health and state of being. I adore your analysis of each song. I usually don't hear the lyrics of a song until I'm a few repeats in so watching you be able to absorb the general story of the lyrics in one go is really cool to me! Billie and Finneas are influences of their own. Along with their writing and producing genius, each of their synesthesias allow them to have a signature sound that flourishes in originality. Which makes their performances so good to watch. The way that they don't take themselves too seriously, thanks to that sibling connection, makes their overall production relatable. Which is a powerful combo that leaves us with these 3-4 minute masterpieces. My recommendations based on where you are in your Billie Eilish journey, for when you're feeling in better health! "Lovely" by Billie Eilish, Khalid. Aside from being a phenomenal song. The video showcases Billie's dancing background. Something she wasn't able to pursue further due to an injury she sustained at 13. "You should see me in a Crown" is an absolute banger. "idontwannabeyouanymore" a slower introspective piece from her first EP. "ocean eyes" is the OG. It's what put Billie Eilish on the radar.
