That Buddhist guy had one of the classic hang-ups I most often see among non-Christians. The whole idea of "well, I'm a good person, I do good things, so why isn't that enough? Why do I have to submit to Christ? My actions should be enough." Of course, the problem with that idea is that none of us are capable of being fully good on our own, and the vast majority of us fall very, VERY short of that ideal. None of us can be justified by good works, no matter how hard we try. What it ultimately comes down to is a choice that each and every one of us has to make: do we want to have a relationship with God, or do we want to be separate from Him? That's what submitting to Christ, to God is about: telling Him that we desire a relationship with Him, so that we may be with Him forever. That is what Heaven is, an eternal relationship with God. And if you DON'T want a relationship with God? Well, then He'll give you the separation you seek. Only this eternal separation, which we know as Hell, isn't nearly as pleasant as some non-Christians seem to think it is. After all, everything that is good ultimately comes from God, and separation from God means separation from everything associated with him. It's not about good works, it's not about being a good person, it's about a simple choice.

We trust text on history as valuable evidence of persons or places or events. But when it comes to evidence, presented in the same way, that speaks to the fact of our own value and that without a higher power we are nothing, we dispute the evidence. It comes down to we thinking that we can get through life on our own strenghth. We hear and it all the time, eg. I did, we are doing, because of us. Our vanity separates us from a higher power. As humans through the ages, we have fought to claim our own. Albeit land, our ideas, our inventions, our rights saying that we are individuals who are entitled. So when we are challenged that all of this is because of a higher power, we resist, argue, fight because it goes against our egos. Thank you Cliffe for expounding on the Gospel and the Finished works of Jesus on the Cross

These people who claim to have read the gospel don't seem to realize that the Bible is not a children's book. It is an intellectually demanding text. When someone just wants to read the Bible without thinking deeply about the context of a given issue or the true meaning of a word, they will assume that it is nonsense. Jesus taught mainly through parables and used similes and metaphors. Let me give you an example: when he told the Pharisees, destroy the temple and I will rebuild it in three days, it does not mean that Jesus will grab a trowel and build the temple in three days. When he talked about birds carrying away grain, he didn't mean it literally. Sometimes you have to dig hard and sweat a lot to understand a given message.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil

People don’t know what faith is and so they narrow faith to only religion. Human beings are just little balls of faith. We exercise our faith all day long. Starting with the alarms on our phones which we set in the night with faith and hope that we will hear it in the morning. Whether or not we have free will is a good question, we're all bound by societies rules that mankind has made over thousands of years, eg: you could argue that I have the free will to steal, but I know that stealing has consequences. I don't have the free will to do anything I wish. I guess I have the free will to conjure up any thought in my head. There are no limits to what the human imagination can envisage in my head, for example, if I imagine God as a woman, would that be deemed as immoral? Many cultures in history have had female Gods.

This is a false dichotomy that even a lot of fundamentalists make. It's also a product of a society that only understands how to read truth through a materialistic lense. The Creation story in Genesis is true. Every word of it. However, that doesn't make every word of it true in a literal, scientific sense. Did God create the world? Yes. Did He create humans to be in perfect relationship with Him? Yes. Did they succumb to temptation and fall from grace? Yes. All of this is true, but a failure to switch lenses to meet the ancient language of the text on it's own basis is a failure to see that truth it's trying to communicate to you. Speakers like Jonathan Pageau do an excellent job talking about this if you're interested in looking into this more.

I am curious whether the same logical rules that apply to the moral relativist also apply to the subjective Scriptural interpreter. The worldview of the moral relativist has no objective standard of morality, which makes their moral views relative. But doesn't the subjective Scriptural interpreter lack both objective authority to interpret Scripture as well as an objective interpretation of Scripture? So, in the same way that the opposite view of the moral relativist is equally valid, wouldn't the opposite of one's subjective interpretation of Scriptural, say in matters of, for example, morals, baptism, creation, the personhood of Jesus, the Trinity, etc., be equally valid as well?

@@thomassecor8474 What I am saying is this---was one of God's intentions in providing us with the Bible to unite all His children in love and truth in imitation of the Trinity? I think so, but that's not what the Bible has done. God's children are divided because each individual has claimed the right to subjectively interpret Scripture, leading to disagreements about salvation, baptism, sin, morality, the nature of God, creation, the personhood and divinity of Christ, the Incarnation, redemption, sacraments, authority, and on and on. The result is a fractured Christianity in which God's own children treat each other with shameful disdain. I conclude that one of the following is objectively true: that division was either God's plan for us, which I cannot believe because God's nature is unity, or He did provide us with an objective authority around which we were intended to unite. The latter must be true, but it isn't the Bible, so what is it?

@peterberr3888
@peterberr3888 6 ай бұрын
If I am not mistaken the Bible suggests warning, avoiding, and excluding heretics from the Christian community if they persist in their erroneous beliefs. The emphasis is on maintaining the purity of the community's beliefs and avoiding those who would lead others astray. Examples: Titus 3:10-11: This passage suggests a process of warning the heretic and, if they do not change, to avoid them. 2 John 1:10-11: This emphasizes avoiding those who do not adhere to the correct teaching. Romans 16:17-18: This passage advises believers to stay away from those who cause divisions and teach contrary doctrines. Matthew 18:15-17: This outlines a process for dealing with someone who sins, which can be applied to heresy: first, a private admonition; then, involving witnesses; and finally, involving the church community.

I want to ask. My questions... 1. The reality that we can see right now is that in this universe there are trillions of trillions of planets and galaxies. If there are countless trillions of trillions of planets... maybe not only planet Earth has living creatures inhabiting it...? For example, if there are a trillion other planets that have living creatures like Earth and its inhabitants are various types of non-human creatures, would Jesus also be God on those one trillion inhabited planets...? 2. The real facts that we can know right now... the earth is approximately 10 million km, the sun is 1.3 million times as big as the earth, and there is a star called U Scuty that is tens of billions of times as big as the sun . If the celestial bodies were super massive in size like that, the number in the trillions would be uncountable. How big do you think God the Creator is, bro...? Maybe God is only as big as the man Jesus...? 3. According to scientists, the universe is more than 13 billion years old, whereas according to historians, Adam and Eve only existed about 7 thousand years ago. Based on this science... maybe the universe has been empty without any living creatures inhabiting it for more than 13 billion years...? So what was Jesus doing for 13 billion years before there were humans, Adam and Eve...? Please answer me!!!!?!!!

I'll attempt to answer, but if my answers are insufficient or unsatisfactory, you are welcome to tell me so, and I would encourage you to keep asking them elsewhere until you find satisfaction. 1. Entirely hypothetical. I can't give a substantial solid objective answer that doesn't really jump to a series of possible flawed conclusions. If I say yes, he's also God to the gaflorixans in the Crab nebula, I'm only speculating, and if I say no, I'm still only engaged in conjecture. I've never been to the Crab Nebula and never met a gaflorxian, so I don't know is the most honest answer to that question. 2. Big. Really big. Assuming his existence is inside and contained within creation itself. The Nth dimension, infinitely higher than our 3 dimensional observations. Or else he exists outside of creation itself, and chooses how to approach and appear within the boundaries of it. In which case we don't know and won't know this side of eternity just how and what He looks like.

3. I don't know. I wasn't there. Don't know anyone who was that saw it in person and is here to tell me about it. What was he doing before existence existed? I don't know. Thinking up existence, I suppose. What was he doing before his corporeal login to the server? He was hanging with his dad and his dad's word, who he is also an aspect of. In the beginning was the code, and the code was with the developer and the code was the developer, and we have seen the developer because he joined the server with us in the form of Jesus_of_Nazareth777.

free will is something that is not explained really well or taught about too well. but first need to understand about the laws of God. and the life, ministry and teaching of Jesus as flesh and blood during his walk on earth. the laws of god are given to us in the 10 commandments. Jesus taught humility, love, understanding, forgiveness and how to be in the world (the material realm) but not of the world. he also taught anyone that accepted him as their lord and savior. and followed him. would find life eternal. free will is about making correct choices. if someone chooses not to live by gods' laws and the teaching of Jesus Christ will not find life eternal in the spiritual realm. if someone has free will not to follow gods' laws and the teachings of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. they have free will to follow them. god doesn't want those who don't want a relationship with him or not willing to follow his rules. it's like your having a dinner party. would invite people that wouldn't respect your home. or people that would respect you, your home and the belongings in it. think of it like your parents' house. how do act when you go home for the holidays. or what if you took a friend with you. would expect that friend to respect your parents' home. or trash it while your there. Imo the bible is historical text. of the life of Jesus. that he did exist., he did die and was raised from the dead. it is the in between that is important. up until the teaching of Jesus. the only access to God. was through the Jewish faith and the teachings of the Jewish elders and leaders. if you weren't born into the Jewish faith. it was hard to convert to it. so that meant you were a gentile that worshiped many gods. paganism. Jesus' ministry, although he was born in the Jewish faith. his teachings and the disciples where not about the Jewish faith and traditions totally. they were more inclusive. what Jesus taught applied to everyone. he formed a new covenant with mankind, that is why the Jewish leaders and rabies hated him the way they did. Jesus destroyed the teaching of the torah and the Jewish traditions. there were a few reasons for Jesus dying on the cross and raising from death. 1 he fulfilled a promise god made to himself and his people after the great flood. never to destroy mankind that way again. 2 to teach mankind how to live in the eyes of God. 3 be the sacrifice for our sins. knowing man is not perfect. we haven't gotten it right since the creation of Adam and eve. by Jesus dying on the cross. makes us acceptable to God in his eyes. in his kingdom in the spiritual realm. 4 by accepting Jesus as our lord and savior. and following his teaching. for he is the way, the truth, the light and the life internal. (the new covenant formed with mankind that is all inclusive) 5 by raising from death. gave Jesus true and total dominion over both the material and spiritual realms. the light and the dark, one cannot exist without the other. if one exists than they both must exist. Satan has to exist because he tempted Jesus in the desert. there is still the issue of the fallen angel lucifer (Satan the prince of the darkness) the truth is not in the head. the truth is in the heart.

You’ve completely missed the point. The entire purpose of Christianity is building relationships because that’s what Jesus taught. “There is no greater love that to lay down one’s life for his friends” Maybe if you actually read the Bible instead of repeating things you heard people say, you’d understand. Stop making judgments about things you haven’t even given a proper look at.

Wrong. God save us a capacity for faith as well as reason, and we are called to use both. That verse from John does not debunk that. It is true we cannot come to entirely understand God in this lifetime as He is too infinite, but He does draw us to learn about Him and His ways. To ask genuine questions and to study. Thomas Aquinas wrote the Summa Theologia which we still go to today to defend God's existence and Paul debated the Greek philosophers of His time in Acts 17. Please stop spreading this and return to the scriptures.
