Give Me An Answer: In this episode Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle talk to college students about why faith is Jesus is real, and we are not to just go blindly after a Church, and also not after the world system.

Join us in person for a Sunday service at 9:30amET at Grace Community Church located at Grace Farms (365 Lukes Wood Road New Canaan CT, 06840).
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

@@JESUS-om3ck Didn't people like Dawkins go to many universities to speak to students ? I don't have a problem with him or others with his beliefs, doing that. And i'm quite sure that we are all aware that everyone at this University has heard of Jesus. Yet people of other religions and atheists have become Christian, after seeing Stuart and Cliffe speak (He still keeps in touch with them) And for many others who have become Christian, videos such as these have played a part in it.

@@spacecoastz4026 would you not say that the terms and conditions of Hell should be clear and unambiguous?, so that we all are aware of them, I'm perfectly fine with perishing after I die, i think that's what happens to all of us after we die, however, the idea of suffering some type of conscious eternal punishment is abhorrent. I don't know much about you as a person spacecoastz, but I suspect overall you're a pretty decent guy who's never committed any serious crimes that would warrant a prison sentence, the same can be said for the vast majority of people on the planet, all of my friends and family are pretty decent people. Yet, while you are certain you will go to heaven, whereas if what you believe is true, i may well suffer eternal punishment. Can you see a problem here?

Wrong bro, Jesus said you go to heaven by believing, repenting, water baptism and baptism of the Holy Ghost Mark 16:16. Faith in Christ alone will take you to hell. Even demons have faith in Christ.
@spacecoastz4026
@spacecoastz4026 4 ай бұрын
@@flyman2608 Demons don't have the option of being saved by the Gospel of Christ, so that's a false argument. Faith alone in Christ is the true Gospel...add to it and it's no longer the Gospel, which is clearly stated in Scripture. That then becomes a faith plus works gospel which saves no one. Water baptism doesn't save...rather it's a display of Faith. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is what happens when a person is saved. Do a study on water baptism in the bible and see that it happens AFTER baptism of the Holy Spirit. A prime example is Acts chapter 8. Understand that people come into Faith first...then are baptized...unless you're catholic...then you get baptized not knowing anything. Many times in Scripture when the word "baptism" is mentioned, it's talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit....not water baptism.

Science will reveal in bits and pieces the processes God created because He created the universe, earth, you, me and everyone else. Man is still doing the same scientific task that God told Adam and Eve to do in Genesis 2 ; name everything and tend the garden. We are good at naming everything but we have blown the tend the garden, taking care of the earth. Two things I have learned about Cliffe in the five years I have watched his videos: 1) Cliffe (or Stuart) has NEVER stated a _true proposition._ Not once. He only states _baseless and unfalsifiable_ assertions _emphatically._ If anyone disagrees, please _quote_ Cliffe (or Stuart) stating ONE _demonstrably_ true proposition, and please identify the video and timestamp where he mentions it. I will gladly consider it and respond. 2) In the five years I have watched his videos, Cliffe (or Stuart) has never presented a SOUND argument in regard to the position of atheism, the historicity of Jesus, or the reality of the Christian god. If anyone disagrees, please indicate where Cliffe presents such a SOUND argument, again by title of video and time stamp, convert the argument into a syllogistic form (if you need help with this, I will gladly assist) and I will consider it and agree it is SOUND, or demonstrate otherwise.

1. Could you please provide an example where Cliffe states unfalsifiable assertions? 2. A sound argument against atheism is provided from 2:48 - 5:48. Cliffe explains how abstract ideas like morality doesn't fit into an atheist's world, because you can't extract theories/hypotheses from them, test it or gain results from things like that. That's usually what atheists base their values on: what is real, things they can observe, touch, hear, smell etc.

As my days go on, i find myself more and more wanting a connection with God. To be forgiven and to have that help. I want it. But im scared i dont deserve it. That forgiveness wouldnt be had. That the door is closed. That my chance is gone. The confusion of not knowing where to START. Whether it be reading or worshipping, or that i would even do it right. How i would ever be cleansed of my sins, which i feel are innumerable. Yet, i have always felt...safe? Protected? At ease. Whenever im in a church; no matter how few times i find myself in them. Cliffe and his son are helping me to feel comfortable, i guess, with approaching God. And i am grateful. Would anyone have any recommendations on maybe where i should start to read? Or i guess, start in general.

As cliff usually says start in Matthew, mark, Luke and John. The way I came to Christ was I was in a lot of pain and needed to get out of it. I was so tired of the feeling I was having so I cried out to God, I just told him i need him that I just need his help and to help me not feel this way anymore. Over the next few days, weeks, months, I could tell I was changing and then when I started to get into my Bible more and watch people like cliff and others it helped me to understand what I need to do to accept Jesus. We are never to far gone Jesus is always standing at the door knocking. He loves us all no matter how bad the sin or how long we were in it. I prayed to him one day or you can talk to him like a friend, he does say we are his friends. Tell him you want to know him more, you want him to make in you a new heart, a new mindset, one that loves God and righteousness. Ask for discernment because there will be people that tell you “you gotta do this or that or tithe this much or go to church every Sunday or pray all day or read the Bible multiple times a day” We are not saved by works but by our faith in Christ. When we are saved we will want to do better and when we feel we can’t do better we pray and ask God to forgive us when we fall and help us to turn from it. I eventually once I realized how to accept Christ I asked him to forgive me for my sins, if you can remember the sins you have done you can name them and ask him to forgive you and help you turn away from them and anything that is against him. And even if you fall or slip, don’t beat yourself up, a righteous man falls 7 times and gets back up (not literally saying you only get 7 times). Jesus wants a relationship with us more than a religious performance or ceremony. Try some gospel or worship music, they usually help me feel better and let me praise his name. Talk with people at your church and ask God to speak to you through his word or through people. I hope you do find his presence because it is an amazing feeling to have such peace, love, and contentment in Christ.

"But im scared i dont deserve it" Not ONE of us deservce it, that is why it is called a gift from God, given by grace through faith in the work of Jesus on the crsss when He PAID for OUR sins to save us from the judgment of sin. "That the door is closed" - Jesus said "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out". If we turn to Him, and seek Him for salvation, justification and redemption, he does not reject you. But you have to put your faith and trust in Him, not your own "worthiness", we do NOT deserve it, He came to save SINNERS from judgment, no sinner deserve it, they deserve hell, BUT GOD gave them a way out of the judgment. That way is Jesus (faith and trust in Him) who paid for our crimes on the cross. The door is not closed until He return, but then the door will close. Then there is no more grace, but NOW the time of grace is open to all who seek His face and put their trust and fait in Him for justification. Your chance is not gone until you die, but you don't know that day, can be today. "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, And in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)" You said: "The confusion of not knowing where to START. Whether it be reading or worshipping" Read this as it gives you the answers: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious." - 1 Peter 2:2-3 "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts." - Jeremiah 15:16 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." - 2 Timothy 4:2-4 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."- Jeremiah 29:13 "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” - John 8:47 "To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it." - Jeremiah 6:10 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." - Acts 17:11 "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. - 2 Timothy 3:15-17 "The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him."- Lamentations 3:24-25 "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." - "Romans 10:8-9 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."- John 5:24 "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." - 2 John 9 "For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels." - Luke 9:26 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." - Romans 1:16 "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" - John 5:46-47 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom..." - Colossians 3:16a "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded" - James 4:8 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" - John 8:31-32 Luke 8:5-15 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

And some more: Psalm 14:2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Luke 18:9-14 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Romans 3:19-26 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. John 3:15-18 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Romans 10:3-4 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Galatians 1:3-5 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I’m here just for the sake of learning, I am agnostic. One of the questions I had throughout the conversation was the discussion about the “immaterial”. One could argue light is immaterial, as it has no mass. It is a form of energy. I was curious, what makes our thoughts any different? Electrically speaking, our minds are immaterial because they are different forms of energy. It’s the same way a computer has energy. Information in a computer is energy. A monitor, like our vision, is displaying this input we receive. With modern technology, we can relatively accurately show where different kinds of thoughts occur in the brain. Therefore, while I think it’s a great argument, I’m not quite convinced about your idea of the immaterial consciousness being inherently divine.

Cliffe I have a question So basically, I am religious so it isn’t quite a question about proving god is real because I believe he is just like you. Back in march, my great grandfather who I refer to as Papa, passed away. He died at 2:22 which from what I’ve learned is an angel number. Now he truly loved god. However when his stroke he had a while before his death, my family mentioned that they hadn’t seen him crack open his bible since, which makes it sound like he read it often. Now my question is, would him dying at a time resembling an angel number, be a sign that he is in Gods kingdom in heaven?

The problem with macroevolution is that it requires death prior to the development of humanity. But we know death did not enter the world until after Adam and Eve sinned. Therefore, macro-evolution directly contradicts the Bible. I understand not wanting to get tangled in those weeds, bit it simply is not compatible with a Christian worldview. Much respect to Cliffe.

Faith is the "power of total conviction" in the mind, possessing the mind. Faith, arising out of your need to believe in something, because such a belief will serve your purposes in some way, can be powerful and strong. Belief is even stronger. Belief is the offspring of hearsay and logic. Because you have heard something and been convinced that what you have heard or read is true, you develop a deep belief in what you have heard. You believe it to be true. You believe in a total, complete way which defies contradiction. Christ was constantly telling people: "Believe you will receive-and you will receive." However, Christ knew at the time, that it will be almost impossible for most people to ever have the faith which will cause miracles to happen, since no matter how much he or others might explain TRUTH to them, they will still never have the intense knowing. Up to this time, people who have faith in "Christ" are like precocious children. Their faith has been partially blind and accepting, yet interwoven with much doubt. Therefore, whatever they needed to be done for them, they depended on "Christ" for the work to be accomplished. Whereas, in fact, much of what they believed they have derived directly from "Christ" has been their own "faith in Christ" made visible in the form of things asked for. While this child-like "faith" is very important to our well-being, those who are capable of moving onward on the spiritual path to perfection, must now reach a deeper level of true knowledge of the relation between mind and "matter." Without this foundation, people will continue to flounder in myths, fallacies and will be locked into the misery of the human condition.

Not writing this as a "gotcha" argument, but still one objection I would make to faith in the bible is it's reliance on free will and the existence of free will. If we know we live in a universe, were every single object from planets to subatomic particles are entirely controlled by deterministic laws, including all the complex chemical interactions between synapses and neurons involved in decision making in the brain, it would mean that your thoughts are ultimately influenced (at the most fundamental level) by chemistry and physical laws you can't control, and I guess stimuli and influences (eg: hunger) which you also can't control. Even if you do have a true pick something to do (eg: eat pizza instead of steak), for that choice to be free, would you have to want to have that choice (eg: want to want to eat pizza instead of steak)? And for that want to be free, would you have to want to want to have that choice (and etc)? I admit I am not a professional psychologist, philosopher or physicist, but still I don't see how there can be any possible way for Christianity to be reality if it is based around an idea that seems to be a mere illusion. However, again, I am not and expert and I would appreciate if anyone can debate me on this.

@@WhitePlasticBags Let's put Christianity aside first and talk about gods. If an all powerful god that created the universe hypothetically exists, would that god be outside the bounds of the rules of the universe that the god set up, or would the god be inside of the bounds of the rules of the universe? It would be rational and logical to assume that the god would be outside of the bounds of the universe, since it would be pointless if a god would limit themself in the bounds of their *own* universe. When talking about religion, it's important to recognise that most of it deals with philosophical and psychological matters, like what exists outside the universe, how the big bang happened, morality, etc. A lot of people view religion as something really platonic with little or no depth, when in reality it's a lot more complicated than you imagine.

From what I’ve read and seen, now I will say same as cliff I can’t prove this to be true or prove that this idea is exact but from context clues and the way that Jesus is meant to be the living word of God. Jesus wasn’t “created” in Mary his spirit was lived through the physical son Mary birthed. Basically God used Jesus’s body as a way to live along side us but be as us and not just in spirit.

Self reservation is a basic instinct that drives your will to live and live eternally.. Fight or flight is an element of basic instincts but neither act is evidence of your morality.

I’m sorry guys, but without controversy “free will” is to pick the kingdom that’s going to inhabit your body(earth suit) Kingdom of darkness or THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT After that the kingdom you choose will make all your decisions for you until death

It is all about God: For it is written, “thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14). Jesus came honoring his Father. He came to appease the wrath of God so that we might be saved. He came doing the commands of the Father and to finish His work (John 4:34). Nowhere is it written where Jesus took time out from God. Everything Jesus did was for the Father’s glory: At the wedding, Jesus turned water to wine so they may see the Father’s power and glory work through him. In John 11:38, Jesus lifted up his eyes to the Father, thanking Him for always hearing him. Then, with God’s power in him, Jesus cried “Lazarus, come forth.” Every thought, word, and deed Jesus did was for the glory of the Father. It was the power and spirit of God that possesses Jesus. Those who seek their own glory will never enter the Father’s kingdom.

@@jasonnoble7302 There is not a single thing here written about me. Please note that everything written in the comment above is glorifying God the Father. I don't understand what you mean by I am seeking my own glory when everything I said has nothing to do with me. "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. 18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but *_he that seeketh his glory that sent him,_* the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him." If God called him to do so he probably would, but think about two things: 1. Cliffe frequently speaks on campuses to encourage rational thought through the questions of God and the supernatural, as well as the truth of Jesus Christ. This type of logical thinking is often less valued compared to emotional state at the events you mention, I can see the discussion departing from logic and reason to character attacks very quickly. 2. These pearls of wisdom Cliffe and Stuart share will not be received well as long as the people at those events think they are doing no wrong. The “I’m a good person” problem, but God is morally perfect while no human is (except Jesus Christ who is also God).

“6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. ” Psalms 33:6, 9 KJV. The Bible is clear on how creation was done, we don't need science to explain anything about that.
