C'est complètement faux. Toutes les études auxquelles vous pouvez penser montrent que le français dans MTL est en hausse et non en baisse. Pourquoi pensez-vous que les écoles françaises sont si bondées et celles anglaises à moitié vides. arrête de répandre des mensonges

This constitution has been forced upon us, the Quebec nation. No elected representative of Quebec has ever signed the constitution since George-Etienne Cartier one of the 4 french speaking among the 35 founding father of this confederation in 1867. The notwithstanding clause which part of a forced constitution, again (1840), is one of the very few tool Quebec has and you guys would like it to be removed ? You dream of a Quebec so defenseless, we could all slowly become anglophone. The ideas of securalism has been supported by the vast majority of the Quebec people and now a second time by the court. Many people who claim to be bilingual cannot carry out a conversation in French, or will not make the effort. If you live in Quebec it is your responsibility to be able to speak French.

@@ComboSmoothOutside of Quebec in Canada (and the USA) it is imperative to be able to speak English. In Quebec it is imperative to be able to speak French. It's not that complicated. If you live in Italy it is imperative to be able to speak Italian. If you live in Germany, German... Japan, Japanese. Do you get it now?

@@yvespetit weren't the English in Quebec as long as the French? Why shouldn't they have all the same rights and privileges? Any anglophones here? What are your thoughts? Like I said, I would love to see all of Canada fully bilingual. There's a richness to know both French as well as English...to have students across Canada spend time here in Quebec to further appreciate and fall in love with the Quebec culture. Doing so Quebec would never lose it's culture because everyone from coast to coast will want to come here and learn it :)

Yes of couse immigrants contributed to the development of this country. But you seem to forget the french, including my grand-father who worked day in and day out for this country, so much that the Canadian government named an island in his name, english canadians have fought so much for our country as well. My grand- father is a Pioneer in this country, and then, there were very few immigrants in this country. The immigrants came later. French and english build this country so please , ce n'est pas juste. It is not fair. Many immigrants have contributed alot to this country. By the way, I am not a hateful person but the way you told me to get over it was offensive. So many french people , and english people have shed blood in this country so that you can live, sit on your on your couch today in 2024. So please, out of respect, STOP SAYING "IMMIGRANTS BUILT THIS COUNTRY!!!!!

@@lindabrouillette6765 I appreciate what your grandfather did and in no way am I discussing his achievements and hard work. But just like him, there are many other people , English, Allophone, French who also worked just as hard (i.e. railroad, Place Ville Marie, roads, Hydro Quebec polls, elected MNA's, etc ....) My point was a simple one: French do not have privileges taken away in Quebec , its the English and Allophones who with every passing year have privileges' removed by the CAQ and Separatist party. Where is the respect and dignity in that? And regarding your couch comment, aren't you, like me, also writing from the comfort of your couch or chair? At one point or another, everyone who has lived in Quebec or Canada were immigrants coming from another country, please do not forget that (i.e., France, Spain, China, Italy, Greece , Trinidad, Haiti, etc...) We are all children who's families immigrated from another country:) Hope you have a nice day.

If we would have true bilingualism in Quebec the rest of Canada would follow and learn French willingly because they would see us embrace both languages. There's a reason why many in the rest of Canada may not want to learn French...it's because they think we Quebecers constantly want to diminish the English language and bring up the separation topic over and over. A family member who wants nothing to do with the family only creates further divisions with the other members. If I can speak and write in 3 languages why can't the rest of us do the same in two? There are other countries that speak 3 languages fluently and everyone gets along and nothing gets lost to the other. Quebec has lost lots of money and influence over the decades due to this. We proud Quebecers could have been the leaders in bilingualism had we had politicians with the knowledge to change things for the better. Instead we get fear and division. One day soon, if we continue going in this direction either our kids or grandchildren will look back and see the lost opportunities and we could never go back. It saddens me reading some of the comments I'm reading here. Honestly, breaks my heart how emotions cloud the minds of so many.
