He’s taking “climate change” about as seriously as he should, considering it’s a NON-issue, for anyone. One of the main talking points used to support the idea is sea level rise and it is objectively observable by everyone’s own eyes that sea level has not risen meaningfully in all of recorded history, let alone since these clowns have been talking about it. There is literally NO hard, observable evidence to support the idea that the earth’s climate is changing in such a way that it presents us any risk at all. Get over it.

Global average sea levels have risen about 8cm in the last 25 years. Not much but it’s accelerating, doubling every 20 years or so which means in a 100 years we could see over a meter sea level rise in the span of 20 years. That’s not small potatoes.
@ThrottleAddiction
@ThrottleAddiction 2 жыл бұрын
@@Shunarjuna You are making predictions based on current observations. While we may be experiencing an oscillation towards a slight rise in temperature currently, the 100 year trajectory will arrive at lower average temperatures than the present. @HumbleWillis "Ice Core Samples show us that of the last 10K years, 9100 of those years have been WARMER than today's temperatures" This argument is from Don Easterbrook who bases his case on ice cores from Greenland. There are two problems with it: 1. It relates only to the North Atlantic region - not the globe. In fact the Antarctic temps tend to move in the opposite direction to Arctic temps. 2. The Greenland ice core data only goes up to 1855. Greenland is now at its warmest in 8500 years.

@@drchicken2477 Absolute rubbish. The Greenland Ice cores demonstrate at the end of the Younger Dryas Period, ~11,600 YBP, it warmed in the order of 10 C, in less than 5 years. So you do the maths, see if that's faster or not than the 'predicted' 2 C over 100 years. Funny how a 'local' Greenland warming as is the retort from idiots like the OP... also melted ice sheets in Nth America and Europe as well. Local, my ass. Global sea level rise of about 100 meters since the last glacial maximum ~20k YBP, most of that in 2 pulses corresponding with the start and finish of the Younger Dryas. But that's local they say...pffft. They also suggested the Sthern Hemisphere gets warm when the Northern goes into a glacial maximum, 'they move opposite'. Absolute nonsense. A lag time between them sometimes isn't 'moving opposite'. And no, they don't show we're at our warmest in the Holocene at all. 2 times just in the last 2000 years we've been warmer. For eg, Vikings were growing crops in Greenland 1000 years ago, where it's still perennially frozen today. Romans were growing grapes in the UK ~2000 years ago, where they can't today because it's colder. Climate alarmists don't know WTF they're on about. Sprout absolute BS. Smh.

But they are cyclical or sporadic. CO2 is the only factor that can explain the sustained warming TREND we've seen over the last 30-40 years. All we need to do is correct the Earth's tilt, recenter the polar axis and correct the ocean currents, ...now what will we name that tax?

The Earth will always be the best planet to live on, at least until other planets are terraformed. I have travelled more miles in my life than just about anyone before the automobile. Humanity can be nomadic, we can congregate in arcs, we can live in floating cities above the clouds if we really want - a space cruiser wouldn't make a bad place to dance. All the while we can still be gardeners and stewards of Earth. The solution to climate change will never be changing the climate, atmosphere, and planet faster than it itself is changing. The solution is to adapt, and to ride the waves of change. We can evolve ourselves to have gulls or wings, we can teach people to don exosuits, Iron Man suits, in the case of a disaster. There's a lot of sfuff we can do. What's the course of action we can take that will end up minimizing our future regrets? That's the course of action we should take.

15 years later and Tim Flannery’s warning about there not being any rain in Australia due to GW, is an atrocious slap in the face to all the people who have suffered through the devastating floods in the last decade and a half. Around 1,000 years ago, Vikings who had settled on Greenland were growing crops successfully enough to export boatloads of grain back to Scandinavia. Those settlers farmed livestock and various crops for over four hundred years, on land that today is as snowbound as Antarctica. This is well documented, but the elephant in the room is the fact that the world must have been several degrees waarmer than it is now, because you couldn’t possibly grow crops and raise animals on Greenland as it is today. Anthropologically produced global warming is a ridiculous myth, as many meteorological scientists have said. Of course, they are censored by those who stand to make the most money out of it.

scientific consensus for anthropogenic climate change is estimated at 99% across 88,000+ individual studies from every corner of the globe, so your use of "many" might be a bit of a stretch. cherrypicking data is akin to pointing to increased rainfall in one period or location to disprove a drought in another period or location. climate change increases rainfall because of increased water evaporation. pointing to changes in temperature at some point in the past completely misses the fact that those natural temperature changes happened over the span of thousands or millions of years, and our current changes are happening in the span of decades.

@Daniel M The "they" you are describing is the mass media, not the scientific literature. Isn't climate always changing? Yes, but that is not what AGW is about. I'm not surprised that you are confused, you appear to be someone of profoundly stunted intellect, raised on the US belief that everyone is entitled to express an opinion no matter how ignorant.
@chriswatson7965
@chriswatson7965 5 жыл бұрын
@Daniel M I am referring to the literature that I read. I don't need a meta study to tell be what's in the literature. "Also did you know that carbon emissions rise AFTER the temperature goes up, not before?" - so if I pump an atmosphere full of CO2 first, then at a later date the temperature rises (as it inevitably will whether there is a correlation or not) then somehow according to your law, I've found a way to bend time. Alternatively consider this - man is able to do what nature cannot. Just because you don't understand the literature and the science and thus have been swayed by pseudo-intellectual garbage isn't an argument against the reality of AGW. You will note at this point that I haven't been arguing any of the science. I've found doing that in these forums to be a complete waste of time because I inevitably reach the capacity of the person I am talking to. Finally that's a novel attitude towards free speech. I haven't heard that one before and it's obvious drivel because much speech and language is banned in every country because it incites conflict. The concept of "freedom of speech" has a highly complex history, and relates to the optimum functioning of a society based on its culture. It is highly culture specific.
@chriswatson7965
@chriswatson7965 5 жыл бұрын
@Daniel M When I started discussing these matters a number of years ago I would always make the assumption that the person I was talking to was capable and willing to understand scientific concepts. Many, many hours of hard fruitless work taught me a bitter lesson. That limitation was not necessarily intellectual, sometimes the person just wasn't right in the head. I now start with the assumption that the person I am conversing with is incompetent. It saves me a lot of pain. If you want to have a genuine discussion on the subject I am happy to do so, but your comments so far on AGW have not filled me with optimism. Yours is a starting point that I've encountered many times previously, and have wasted hours addressing to no avail.

@cristop5 In fact, Ice Core Samples show us that of the last 10K years, 9100 of those years have been WARMER than today's temperatures by an average of FIVE DEGREES FAHRENHEIT! The planet is SUPPOSED to be warmer than it is today. It was already warming before the industrial revolution. It would have been warming with or with out it, and there's no way to honestly prove we have anything to do with the temperature increase.
