Thank you for the review. It is the first time we see a comparison based on a variety of criteria. The category will keep evolving and there is sun for everyone. Good luck this season!

You’re welcome. Agreed, I think the innovation in this space is great and as I mention in the video, I believe mobile hunters should keep an eye on all of these companies. Best of luck this season!

Nice video and enjoyed your take on each climbing platform. Just to be clear....you reviewed all of these sight-unseen solely based on the specifications each company listed for their product? You've never touched any of these?

That’s correct. Like most hunters these days we have to make purchase decisions without actually examining the product first. This is my eval based on specs. I encourage folks to go to a Mobile Hunter Expo if possible. Best of luck this season!

I’m glad to see someone on KZbin chiming in about this category. My preference is an srt preset loop. Doesn’t work for going in blind to new places. So, I myself just ordered the broadside mark 2 recently. (Loved the mark1 (didn’t buy it) but it was missing the features they put in mark2). I asked myself what I needed, looked through every elevated deer kill I’ve had over the last 5 years, and In over half those trees I could have used that very easily. The saddle/rap line, plus some knowledge/practice/ and a multi step aider, and my thought is I can use it to one-stick with a platform if necessary (hate one sticking but It’s useable if needed). use it like a climber but bypass limbs due to the saddle, or use it to climb a couple different ways in the same run up to get where I need to be if necessary. The main thing I like is how small dia it goes, and with their large tree cord how large a tree it can go on. Very vast range. I think people aren’t seeing these as a multi-use climbing method, only seeing it as a climber, which with a treestand safety harness they’re right it’s limiting. With a saddle it’s not nearly as limiting, and it’s easier/more efficient than one-sticking by far for me. Yet it could be used to one stick also, and then you take the cable off and you have a nice giant platform to run for srt presets. I feel it’s a good buy due to the versatility when you add some climbing knowledge and aiders to the mix.

I saved a bunch of money and just started using the bottom section of my summit... Plenty of room, grips a tree like crazy, already familiar with the system. Why would I buy something I already have ? The hunting industry is already flooded with crazy crazy high prices on everything else.

That’s great! This video is intended for those that don’t already have a climber or want a smaller platform. But, at the end of the video, I do mention old climbers as an option. Best of luck this season!

Thank you for informing me of the ridiculous prices.. to think ur only bying half of a climber and need to by the accessories to even climb the tree?? This is the perfect example of why I stopped bow hunting 10 years ago.

Well, one can bowhunt for pretty cheap these days. I can’t imagine giving it up because of the prices of something that I’d never use…but whatever. Lots of folks hunt from the ground or a ground blind. Some treestand set ups aren’t too expensive. Hopefully you find the passion for it again someday.

Thank you for the video. I’m also on the hunt for one of these new ideas of lighter and quicker climb. Amazing that the concept is there but greed and lack of innovation ability makes it distasteful and disappointing.

Ok. These are small companies trying to put a niche product on the market…so my guess is that the cost of materials and labor are high…but call it whatever you’d like. Best of luck this season!

I heard Osprey LAA has concerning issues. The design currently cannot handle the load when stood on?
@HuntDetail

I haven’t heard that. I certainly hope that’s not the case. Regardless, most of these products are relatively new and it wouldn’t surprise me if Osprey or any of them do have some issue that becomes evident over time. Best of luck this season!

@@NathanFryMicronesia / TheBudgetSportsman you received a Lean Ascent for free to do a review. You rushed a test, claimed an issue and it took you 2 months to send us the information so we could make a proper safety assessment and take any potential action in case of a "safety issue". Now that we finally have the information: you stepped on the lean ascent without your tether on, didn't secure your feet in the foot loops, and now claim we have a safety issue because the platform "fell out from under you". Not to mention you never read the instructions. If you do that and put all the pressure to the bottom of the tree, especially with a steep angle upward, any climber or climbing platform will "fall from under you". It happened to me with both of my climbers and we were using linemans rope for safety at the time. EVERYONE: please read and follow equipment instructions: make sure you are attached to the tree before stepping on any climbing equipment, and when designed, secure your feet in the equipment immediately, which will also ensure you have the right position on the equipment.

@AntlerAddict The Lean Ascent has been tested per the TMA standards by one of the only two US accredited companies. I believe it is the only one. Can you please reach out to us so we have chance to review those "concerning issues". We haven't heard anything from our customers. Thank you

@@HuntDetail it’s aluminum tube. I own 3 of them because I’ve tried the others and none compare IMO. There is no fiddle factor and they are extremely light and climbing is simple.

Half a climber for twice the cost? What the hell are these scam artists thinking?
@HuntDetail
@HuntDetail 3 ай бұрын
Well, it’s a smaller platform to fit into a pack instead of a much larger…standard climber platform. Personally, I would prefer a custom saddle climber platform over buying a standard climber. Also, there are a lot of hunters who’ve never owned a standard climber…so this would be their first of this style. Anyways, thanks for your feedback.Best of luck this season!

The prices are a complete scam I can take my old summit cut the side rails off of it and bolt them to my saddle platform and just run the summit cable around the tree into other side just like the summit .also I’d put the quick climb stirrups on it as well for your feet to go into. So it will still be the small size of a platform but climbable. Maybe I should do that and start charging $500

Depends on one’s needs. And, these are very niche products…so, they are small manufacturers that don’t have the volume to have lower material costs.
