Matt and myself set out to try and tackle two short climbs in the Ghost. Not sure what happened but I fell apart. We still managed to get it done and run a few laps afterward. It still was a good day, but definitely frustrated at my performance of the day. I'm not sure if it was a combination of the tools or just feeling off.
Onto the next one.
Also, thank you again everyone for the continued support.

The fact that you rallied and finished the climb speaks volumes about you as a climber. And it didn’t sound like an inflated ego thing, you were just like “ what am I doing?!” Realizing you didn’t HAVE to bail, you just felt like bailing for your own comfort. Embrace those emotions and feelings that come up when you’re climbing; when I’m feeling off or weak, or flustered or scared I’ll ask myself “ what do I need to feel right now?” Take that moment to be present and open to whatever comes up. It’s all about what we are resisting.

Great job pushing on......I remember how much I struggled on "Wicked Wanda" back in the early 90s - I found it harder than "Polar Circus" . Though it was a super cold day in January with lots of aerated fracturing chandelier ice..... great videos guys - bring back many great memories.

Dude this video was the best! From the approach to the pre-climb tea time, to the bail-no-bail ...until the end. We all have those kind of days. I'm glad you made the best of it. I had so much fun watching! About 10, WI4. Btw, I pressed the liked button at Matt's scrambling , then it just got even better!

Started gym climbing this summer. I cannot do a pull up yet. Getting closer and closer everyday. Started at 300 lbs, hit the 240's this week. Ive climbed a couple 5.10's, but 5.9 is mostly my limit. Only gotten a V3-4 boulder so far.

Enjoying the content. I retired myself from ice climbing this year. Could no longer "turn my mind off." Found myself anxious and dreading upcoming trips. Not what I wanted with my free time! Still climb with stoke in other climbing disciplines, but ice...yeah nah yeah. I'm also in the 3 pull-up club so that may factor in :)

Man I 100% can understand that, it's definitely a hard sport to get the right mindset of. Even for myself it takes several days early season to finally get into it, and I'm just so blessed that I can get usually 30-50 days per season to lock the headspace in. But then sometimes it's just off. Hope you're well brother.

So nice to see good climbers on an off day. Sometimes that voice inside your head is just screaming at you and you know what? That’s intuition based on your experience. Here you repositioned slightly and got your confidence back, which made all the difference. It’s a battle to push yourself harder when that feeling comes up, but you can usually always climb another day. 7 pull-ups, WI 4+ on the East Coast.

Pull-ups are maybe 5. 50 years old. I'm okay leading WI4. Can follow/TR on WI5 usually without falling. I have plenty of off days too where it's just hard to keep it all together. Way to bone up and give it to it in the end.

Why do you bring two ropes but then only use one? Isn’t ice climbing usually done with half ropes?
@owencooper6071
@owencooper6071 2 жыл бұрын
Looks like one was just a tag line. Half or double ropes are nice if the climb zig zags but if it’s just straight up it makes it nice and easy.
