Alex Megos has one of the most interesting physique's I've ever seen for someone in his sport. I watch a lot of different sports, train a lot myself and generally have good knowledge on how the body works, what different physiques different athletes will produce from different types of training. His body is genuinely so unique, his muscle clearly responds extremely well to anything that causes them hypertrophy He has by far one of the largest chests I've ever seen on a climber, so much that it barely makes sense. Climbers spend all their time pulling in, retracting shoulder blades, they never do pushing movements that would significantly recruit the pecs to cause this amount of growth. But on the other hand, for some reason his bicep and tricep do not get this natural growth to nearly the same extent as the rest of his body, take note of Magnus (especially true if you look at pictures where he's closer to his prime athletic strength), his arms, despite not doing specific training with them are much more proportional. But then Megos' forearms are gigantic maximus and his overall frame is quite wide, you'd imagine his arms would naturally match this, especially since his ape index is +0 (neutral). To clarify, not calling them small, it's more of a testament to how enormous his torso is in terms of just pure muscle (and wide bone structure/frame). To build this amount of muscle he has, with such exceptionally low fat %, all whilst barely even focusing on hypetrophy-type training is just insane. Sure his genetics are awesome but it really speaks to what crazy amount of discipline this guy has. He must train just an absolute absurd amount of hours throughout his life.
@plwadodveeefdv5 ай бұрын
Pecs are for pulling your arm across your torso. It's your elbows and wrists that allow you to use them to push (along with triceps and delts) That said, yes, his chest is huge 😂
@MrVvulf2 ай бұрын

I have personally had the pleasure of watching Wolfgang Güllich in 1982, making a flash try on an unclimbed French project in Le Saussois: About 5m flat roof on nothing but one and two-finger pockets, where he would be doing levitation moves all the way past the lip and onto the headwall. The headwall was were he finally fell because he failed to find a crucial pocket.

The most interesting video to me would be maybe the top 10 or so strongest climbers and the top 10 strongest strongmen and put them through full body MRIs to see what is going on inside from scar tissue to calc build up to muscle density. Also flexibility tests of the various joints. MoCap to see the subtle differences in how their using their bodies as far as gait when walking/running/lifting/climbing/grip. Full study on their diet, full labs, and just basically an absolute full study to determine maybe a new way to strength train or maybe even a new way to define strength. As this point i believe the pound for pound strongest person (upper body) is likely to be a climber. The videos where these “little guys” absolutely amaze some of the biggest and strongest people to ever walk this planet are addicting and i need an in depth breakdown of what i think could change the physical fitness world and maybe even give us answers on how to stay physically fit and uninjured later in life. If you read this then you are crazy. I just ramble.😂
