Every tree guy does the mad dash from the angry hive ha ha. Felt bad for laughing until you did Buckin ha ha. Always look up before rushing in. The finishing cut often catches out new groundies especially when pruning I find or the hand saw. I personally always climb with two attachment points (wizz down quick if there's a problem). Great cabium savers now that would save you cutting a wedge to come down on which grip to the timber (teuflberger). Love the throw rope skill. Glad you got the job cracked and good will to all subs
@nate28385 жыл бұрын
i've been getting into using my cambium saver more, and now that i'm more familiar, i recommend that anyone who is thinking about getting one, definately go longer than you think you will need, and go adjustable (whether is premade that way or you ad a ring on a prusic). trust me you will thank me later after you've used it awhile. My first was way to short, nearly useless (2ft?) my second is 4 ft so more useful however not being adjustable can be a pain on smaller stuff, and not large enough on larger stuff. now thinking of getting a 6 footer with adjust ability Once you figure out how to stow it on your saddle its great to have.

Hey Buckin' Glad you and Hogan didn't get hit too many times by those big hornets. They gotta hurt when they nail ya, eh? It was great to see you back up in the trees again, if only for a little while. You, Hogan and Victor stay safe up there. Good evening to all the True Blues and ALL my fellow soldiers. I hope everyone had a great week. Welcome to all the new subscribers. Jump in the comment section and say hello. Love and blessings to all.

Then black hornets are no joke, I remember I was in the woods with my dad as a teenager falling timber for a post and beam shop we were going to build and I had just finished my face cut moving around to put my back cut in and stepped on a ground nest well I got hit six or seven times before I got out of there, trust me I wasn’t laughing when I seen you and your boy go running, I still remember that day vividly, the worst part is I had to go back in there to finish the tree off, got to love the fun you can have in the woods with your dad.

Wasps are bad, but Hornets are no joke! I was topping one once, cut into a hollow. It was like a scene from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull... Big Biting ANTS !!! ( And no rappel line) that will make you strip quick boy! Even in front of a customer!
@MWiles1236 жыл бұрын
Right on point about the groundsman as well. You should never approach a climber in the tree, without looking up first! A dropped hand saw or fallen tools off of your belt, can put ya in the hospital from that height!
@nicolascatalano57443 жыл бұрын
I got put in a pinch with a hive one time and it was not pretty. I was younger and in expierienced. And did not clear a right of way upon entry. Did not attack compression first. Bar to my power saw had become stuck and they came out of the tree like wild fire. The thorn thicket and the bees ate me up pretty good. I have learned so much from you Sir. Thankyou so much for your guidance and wisdom. Truly.... Thankyou Buckin... 💚✊🤙🤙

Those where some angry animals! About the advice in the end: that's what I (among other things) love about your video's: you're always 'making sure' when it comes to safety. Making sure your groundcrew is safe when you're up there as a climber, making sure the undercut is well cleaned out... These kind of small things that in the end DO matter to make it home safely when the job is done. Thanks very much for sharing!

That was some great entertainment! I know that adrenaline rush from being chased by pissed off bees. But hornets are on a different level. I'm a beekeeper, their behaviour reminds me of swarms of honeybees. If the cluster is broken up they will split into groups, some sticking to the queen and others staying where they used to hang around. They all try to seek out the queen, so in the end the biggest clump of bees is where the queen is. Interesting to see how you work up in the tree, great video!

I can only laugh now because I too, got it pretty bad with hornets not too long ago... I was cutting brush on some mountain land, and must have put my boot in their nest. I am glad I was dressed for rattlesnakes because my waist high chaps kept my legs from getting stung, I did not know I was in em till the first one stung my face. That got me moving! I was running, wiping them off my sleeves, I whacked my face quite a few times, getting the hornets, by the time I got to the cabin I was swelling up. I took some benadryl and by that evening, I looked like a shaved moose. my upper lip was hanging over my chin. I am glad you got out of the tree before you got stung. That would have really been frustrating to be clipped in at the same time. Right on Buckin', this video shows some of the things that really happen. I really enjoyed the lecture on "no, I won't do a video on cutting your strap while making an undercut" when you said "why would you do that?" it reminded me of how my Dad used to end some of his lessons to me growing up... Smiling, George.

Buckin'...you are playing with fire with these Hornets. Last Year I was on my own falling some 90 foot Aspens and I dropped one and proceeded to take out the top limbs when a bunch of Bald-Faced Hornets flew at me, two got in my shirt and one stung the back of my hand, they chased me for 400 metres, just felt like a red hot rod had been put on me. The following day my hand was double its normal size. They rank in the top five most painful stings on the Planet! There are also some large black hornets with a white butt, they are as mean as Hell too.

I once plugged a ground nest that was later excavated and it was 4ft by 4ft by 3ft area under the forest floor. Was incredible what they can do the mean suckers

Trimming out dead trees in our pine forest. My father and sister were cutting and i was moving brush. I stepped into a ground nest. Thirty bees on me in two seconds. I crushed them with my hands. In my hair crawling in my clothes . They stayed focused on cutting. A few minutes later they asked why was a running around like a crazy person. Lol memories.

Buckin you should try a rescue 8! You can tie a running bowline at the top of your stem and rappel down on a single line. Much faster and smoother. Can also zip down fast if you gotta get away from those bees! Take a look friend you might like it. It’s a cheap tool that can be used for all sorts of other things as well!

I agree Buckin no competant climber if going to cut their strap on the undercut thats just ignorance not an accident. If your buying some carabiners check out the DMM multi pack. Theyre a uniform oval so they dont taper like a petzl, there's more room for the 5/8" rigging line. The vermeer dealer was around $115 for a 4pack in Ontario.
