Awesome video! I loved cutting and splitting wood with my dad. We cut firewood for ourselves. We would use about 18 to 24 cord a year. I also cut firewood for my Grandmother. She would get a load of logs. She used around 14 to 18 cord a year, all of it was split by hand. This all happened from the age of 12 to 24. It was the best days of my life. Boy, I miss it! Stay safe friends!

hey buckin, another thought, you should do a short little video on that throwing knot u used. I think alot of newer guys to tree work would find that to be a big help while rigging out limbs and stuff. Its one of my favorite techniques to use. Super helpful in rigging.
@anthonylandis6 жыл бұрын

In Germany we have a knot similar to this throwing knot, its called butterbread knot, but I cant find a vid or description.... its like you spread butter to your bread and then you have to fold it and wrap it three times from the left side and tree times from the right side... if you throw it over a limb it will return like a boomerang and coming back to your hands. I have a german description only, here you can see it. Hope this works and helps a bit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLkp5plpyJrsk

Buck'in nice that you can work with your son! You have a lot to pass on to him about being a woodsmen, and about life. On another note I went over to my local saw shop and said, "Do you have a MacCulloch 10-10?" He said come back here. Showed me a 10-10 Automatic and said take it, see if you can get it to run. What a guy! What love! He has a lot of older saws too, like in the Chainsaw History book you showed before (I too own a copy). I'll try to take my camera in the shop and take a video for ya.
@Andyshine776 жыл бұрын
Looks like a nice day cutting with you're boy. I'm no climber and never will be, but one thing I need to learn is some better knots. A video or two on how to tie, and when to use a particular knot would sure be informative to a guy like myself.

Helped my Dad do a similar job on 2 large fir and balsom on a small city lot back in the 80s we used an old Ford truck and a long rope to lower the chunks slowly to the ground. i'll never forget the physics lesson that day.Enough ramblin great job gentlemen!
