Originally intended as a medium it ended with a similar armament ,layout and rol of contemporary mbts (patton's) . so it just took the designation.

I come from a similar era to yourself Bruce mate, and I appreciate the depth of research that has gone into the replication of the vehicles, the weapons, the ammunition and the ballistics. War Thunder has no peer when it comes to vehicular war games. Also, your voice has no peer! My favorite Japanese tank? The Type 98 So-Ki SPAAG. I understand the little thing never actually reached production, but it's a great vehicle in RB, capable of taking down aircraft of higher BR, and it is small enough to go unnoticed and capture objectives when required. These days I live in Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao Philippines. The city was occupied by the Japanese Imperial Army from mid-1942 to mid-1945. War Thunder has also ignited an interest for me in the history of modern warfare.

Personally, the Ho-I and Chi-He are some of my favorites. Their armor is thick enough at their BR to stop a few shells, while having the firepower to kill anything you'll come across, often in one shot

I edvice everyone to try out the Chi-Ha Kai and the Chi-He. These 2.0 and 2.3 br tanks are fast, have a good cannon, and high survivability. Since I entered Tier 5 I hadn't really revisited low tiers, but when I did, I had a blast with these two tanks.

Lower RP for modules of all vehicles tank/plane/ship/helicopter from Rank 4 and above by 40-50%, too much grind for vehicles themselves and then have to play them stock and to get necessary modules to make them combat effective. Remove missile warning system from RB and implement a sound warning to planes that had them IRL.

My favorite is the Chi-He, great gun, decent speed, and armor the can hold up some how. I use it as a support tank mainly sniping or holding a capture point and thanks to its quick reload you can dispatch and tank that you can pen very quickly and with some relative ease.

@@josephheuer4540 M3 tends its a hard nut, but it was never been a big issue. the real trouble makers are the matildas valentines , b1's and t-50 . all of wich prior to the changes could be dealt somewhat reliably at close ranges. those 15mm (just checked) that lost really marked the difference.

Fun fact: there is a hidden camo for Japanese tanks. Basically it's the heavy tank no 6 default camo but it cannot be purchased for other tanks. That camo is used for devblogs. So basically you create a custom camo template then open the blk and change to jp_camo_olive_kusairo* in the blk

My favourite tank in Japan might be the Chi-To, very good for long range attacks with great penetration for it's br, I have been able to take out even a kv-1 from a long distance at it's turret and even side. But not only that, I like how Japan tries doing the multi turret guns on tanks for combat like the Chi-Ri. If it is possible to get more of Japan's mind game tanks into the game, either the heavy tanks I keep asking or medium or even light tanks. This can bring a whole new type of gameplay for Japanese players offering deception over victory. Deception over Victory, huh, seems that might be the name of the patch IF you fellas do plan on giving Japan a whole new set of tools and toys for War Thunder.

I just started with Japan, and I must say despite dying here and there, their vehicles are fast and the turret traverse is lovely. After having tried the british for a good while into tier 2, the Japanese were a breath of fresh air. Still trying to master how to use their tier 2 tanks so i don't die so quick. I particularly like the Ke-Ni, the Chi-Ha *standard*, Chi-Ha Kai, and the Chi-He. The I-Go-Ko is nice too, just have to compensate fir uts inability to traverse some slopes, and its long hull can poke out at tge strangest times. Excellent video!

The Chi-Ri can also "Rapid Fire" by switching between guns. (Or, if you map different keys to different guns.) Thus fire the little hull gun between shots of the larger turret guns. You can also use the hull gun while the main gun reloads, and queues up another round behind it. I really like dual-caliber tanks like this, because you don't have to waste shots on soft skin targets, or switch rounds during the reload. So, in a target rich environment (Preferably with some cover,) you can take out that SPAA, and still have the main gun for that Medium tank standing next to it, or vice versa. Complicated inputs, but more efficient, because you don't have to fumble through the reload, while they're shooting back at you.

4 years later and they still hold up. they're basically the sherman equivalent for japan. they're the first tanks for Japan that has actually armored and its such a surprise to be able to take hits. they also punch through a lot of stuff too with their canons. the japanese grind from 2.0 to and up is pure suffering, but once you reach 4.7 you finally make it to the other side and get to stand with the big boys.

The only non-premium tank can help you grinding the early tech tree pretty fast is the Ho-Ri prototype at BR 7.0. The type 89 and stb1 are good as well but the time you can unlock them would be too late.

We need slice of life improvements. e.g when RB is selected the stat cards for planes, some stats such as speed, climb, turn rate, changes color to green denoting its max performance and I like it that those things are being pronounced and would like the same for ships and tank. 2nd: whenever an event or any vehicle that is usable in a battle. (ships e.g) planes can be used but if they are not put in your line up and if we go into battle and come back those aircrafts (all aircrafts) that can be used but weren't, their weapons and ammo change back to default. This is soooooo inconvenient! I hate it when my stuff gets reset they need to fix this issue and its been plaguing for a long time now

​@@asa0046 Chi-Ha and every tank that uses its hull (Chi-Ha Kai, Ho-Ni, etc) shake while turning making it impossible to aim, Chi-Ri is missing smoke shells for hull gun (one of the reasons it was given a hull gun in the first place), Chi-Ri's assisted loading system doesn't work, Type 90 is using STC's armor and JM33 is underperforming. Virtually every Japanese shell is underperforming according to Japanese and US tests.

@@ozmanice7584 There simply aren't enough tanks to make Japan as strong as these nations. The only things that could still be added are a few light/medium tanks at Tier I (like a Chi-Ha with the turret of the Ke-Ni) a few Tier I and II Tank destroyers and 2 more ST-A Tanks. Maybe HE-only firing SPGs at high-Tier and these wouldn't exactly be useful. There are no options for a Heavy-Tank Line, you cant flesh out the SPAA tree to much and at Tier II and III you can't add more tanks either. There are 2 Ho-Ris in game. Guess how many were completed irl. 0. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more Japanese Tanks but there aren't much more and those they could add are mostly kinda useless

@@thatoneguynextdoor8794 they have now 10 more tanks in the files and some passed to developers just a few months ago. Japan was banned to develop their army so they've send/sold patented files all over the place. They didn't produce war vehicles "in house". USA payed Japan for all damages they've done, including free USA armored vehicles and started a partnership program for development ground/air war machines. I can't remember in what year this happened, around 70s tells something in my memory. I can tell you something for sure, all nations knows, if Japan had been allowed to own an army, they would have the most advanced war tech across the board. USA citizens didn't want to get involved in ww2, Pearl Harbor was a perfect opportunity for the government to convince the public they need to enter the war. Japan attacked them and got paid, war is a very profitable business. They had German vehicles, us vehicles and lots of them.
