Hi, The best advice I could give you is to make small goals and write them down. The key for the second half of 1-5-9 is to pull with the upper arm and push with the lower one. Most climber a very strong at pulling but very weak when it comes to pushing motions. That would explain why 1-5 is easy for you. Try to isolate the part that you have problems with and make an exercise out of it.Ex: 6 off-set pull-ups 4 rungs apart each side. Hope that Helps!

@bluesmurf777 Yes i do train with a weight vest sometimes. I use it for system board workout and lock off exercises. I got footage of me doing a one arm pull up with a 50 lb. weight vest . I will probably make another training video soon with lots of cool exercises . Thank for watching

Still love coming back to this video even after all these years! I'm finally close to achieving 1-5-8 on large rungs. Any tips for how you're able to pull that top hand so close to your chest? I'll try to practice lock off on campus while pushing lower hand down and focus on getting my top hand close to my chest tomorrow.

Like the vid got me motivated to buil myself a campus board :D I actually have another exercise which I consider quite good would like to hear your opinion on it: You take 2 1,5L Waterbottles and fill them untill they are almost full but leave a little bit of air in them. Tie them to two ropes and then use them to do pull-ups. (might need to glue sandpaper on them though because plastic is obviously quite slipery)

On the campus board, how did you train for the 5-9 part? I can easily do the 1-5 but can only go from 5-7, is there any specific training regimen I should do to work on it or should I just try it over and over again until I'm able to do it?

Obviously very strong. Not meaning to be critical but there is definitely some technique here that could use some cleaning up. Training for strength is only on piece of the pie.

@tbwilsonky9 жыл бұрын
+cashmab the video is clearly focused on strength acquisition. granted technique isn't somehow separate from the application of strength, but one might surmise this climber has both considering his accomplishments on rock (v13/14). We're probably fortunate his technique practice is not on display here as it tends to be a pretty boring affair for the audience.

His shoulders are rolled in because his back and traps are so overdeveloped that they are taking over the weaker muscles in the chest and shoulders.
