I found that with my friends in the boulder gym. (Not that we were close to Adams and Alex level in any way) At easier routs we climbed very similar. But when it came to the crux of the highest difficulty we did we often found completely different solution for the same problem.

@tvdw40555 жыл бұрын
Great video. I disagree with many other commenters that they are very similar. Seeing them side by side like that I find Ondra to climb with much better efficiency, finding the ideal body positions quicker and looking less strained through the moves overall compared to Megos. There are moments when you see Alex really tensing up, shrugging his shoulders, clenching down and Ondra on the same moves looks almost relaxed.

Ondra's style I find is more elegant and refined, even if in the smallest of ways. Not that it changes the fact they are both world class climbers, and can't wait to see if Megos will be able to set a 9c+ route soon to equal Ondra. Excited to see where these guys take climbing in the next few years (they have already achieved so much...)

I’ve only watched it once through, and was mostly watching Adam bcs I’m a taller climber, but Adam’s technique seemed to be the tiny difference going into the head wall on the last comp. He was able to use his legs more and put his body in slightly better position to take a little pressure off the arms. Great video, I expected more differences between the two given their different sizes and strengths.

I watched the video at a very slow speed. It is clearly visible that Adam sometimes uses a better technique. This is not to say that Alex might not climb just as well technically, but he doesn't here. Maybe he just doesn't bother, because he does a lot of things with strength where Adam climbs more technically clean. Sometimes one of Alex's legs just dangles around instead of being usefully placed - he just does it with sheer strength. Sometimes he holds holds on bent arms, while Adam can keep his arm long by cleverly twisting it in. Anyway, it's fascinating to see both climbing so parallel, thanks for the great video!
