I worked as a designer for Cline Truck during this time frame. This truck was our most popular model.

Great video we had a Cline in the sand pit I worked for in the 1970s, really Kool truck to drive around as a young man learning trades back then. Glad to see this one is still earning its keep and not waiting to get scraped.

We had 2 of those for “water” trucks on a strip mine I worked at. This one actually looks like one of them. One was the auto and the other was manual. I enjoyed running these old beasts, especially the standard unit.

My dad worked at an open pit mine that had 4 or 5. Custom made stock pile cline rock wagons. T and j owned the company then located in Martin city just outside KC. When I got into welding I talked to them but they were slow at the time.

I don't know how you dig up the data on all these older models but I really enjoy your videos describing these unusual machines. Thank you.

It takes a lot of time, and some machines are a headache to find useful information to use in a video because they are so old/rare.

Eagle coal an dock/centeral asphalt/w.v.paving/v.n.green co.} use to have + or - 8 clines with the automatic/shift position transmission that had a retarder type hold back for steep hills,used to haul coal off the strip,and at 40 ton the bed isnt full yet. The dump bed on this cline is LARGER than the "off road bed" on a 800 mack. Ive had 47-48 ton on a 800 mack with the off road bed,so go figure..............Ive also drove a cline with the manuel shift/roadranger .Theres a slightly earlier cline than the one in this video,it had a straight exhaust stack,straight up out on the middle of the engine compartment hood,and a slightly newer cline had the muffler mounted on the passenger side front fender.........

Nice truck, and well made video. Howcome things changed with these dumptrucks, as the biggest miningtrucks nowdays only have one one rear axel with massive wheels, I figure you'd want to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible?

Hard to say. I know what some of the old Euclids cost back in the 1950s, but the dollar value changed greatly by the 70s. If I had to guess, I would say $60-70K

Why would some customers prefer the noisy Detroit over cummins?
@UnitCrane514
@UnitCrane514 11 жыл бұрын
Never heard of Cline, cool old truck though, dont like the Cummins diesel, would rather have a Jimmy. Looks almost homemade like it was thrown together in a shop on a 3 week build. Built with an "I" beam frame with leaf springs to ensure kidney failure to all operators who dare to drive it!
