@2:49, Is that water dripping or a fast diesel leak?
@lewiemcneely91436 жыл бұрын
Water.
@thespiderkelly95896 жыл бұрын
Right, would have been alot of diesel to be leaking.
@lewiemcneely91436 жыл бұрын
If it was diesel the whole place would be crawling with MSHA inspectors and Environmentals in short order. You get a leak fixed or get the machine GONE! BIG fine time.And those beds will drip forever till you dump the water out of them at the start of the shift.
@thespiderkelly95896 жыл бұрын
I didnt realise that this industry was heavily regulated for the like of spills and leaks.
@lewiemcneely91436 жыл бұрын
Didn't used to be as much but with MSHA (Mine Safety & Health Association) overseeing things which inspects all mines, above and below ground, it can get really interesting very quickly depending a lot on moods and rule book interpretations. It's just better not to have any violations. They used to hunt for stuff but not so much anymore, but you better be right with the book. And they'll usually give you time to correct the problems and give another inspection. And they do look after the miners welfare and equipment being up to snuff. I've been around several and they're just doing their job and nice guys, really, but it's their job and big brother will come down on them if something they've supposedly checked goes haywire. Watch some of 'U.S. Chemical Safety Board' videos. That'll give you some insight on how things can go.

THANKS, Pal and it looks like a Cat truck is a Cat truck is a Cat truck. Very little difference between the 771 and 73 I was around except size. Operation is very similar as well as control placement. I bet the 18-V is a bull. The 771 had a 510 horse V-8 and the 73 was a 12-V pulling 830. I really like the way Cat trucks are set up and work. And they're easy to get the hang of, not complicated at all. Not like an R-35 or 22. Thanks again!

Your videos are great my friend. I always look forward to new docmentaries as well as all the operating vids. My family comes form Shamokin and my grandfather, Sam Moyer, was an engineer on the Glen Burn mine - he built the culm bank there, operating the railroad-track driven dumpster that hauled the culm up the mountain and dumped it.....any chance of some history regarding that (now defunct, I think?) mine? Thanks again and keep the great content coming.
@PAmining6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And that is very interesting! I have a facination with the old underground mines in this region. So much history. Thanks!
@bcdrummer19626 жыл бұрын
I happen to be online right now....the Glen Burn was very interesting. I took a mine tour back in the early 90's (I think it was) and - this is weird - in the museum outside the mine entrance, in addition to all the old mining equipment on display was - swear this is true - a human head in fornaldehyde in a big glass jar. There was no info about it but man it was freaky. I saw this with my own eyes. Now THAT would be some old history worth looking into. I just had to share the story. Anyone else out there who could corroborate this? Anyway, cheers PA mining and keep on rockin' the vids.
@PAmining6 жыл бұрын
Theres a couple underground mine tours around here. Personally I'd love to make videos again showing the underground mines, shafts and old stuff like that however, it just breaths trouble. I know way to many people who've gotten in big trouble for posting videos and pictures from abandoned underground mines.

That stairway across the radiator was a Cat development. I think the first was on the 789. Others are copying it now. The rope hinging down by the left front tire is to haul a lunch pail up. Some mines deem it not safe to climb stairs with a lunch pail in your hand. Lot of drivers now use a pretty good size cooler instead of the old style steel lunch boxes.
