I worked at the Shell gas station when this was being filmed. Was a lot of fun watching how a movie is made.

@@Ken-dm1kd that jailbreak was a little temporary room that was built attached to the Odion Hall. That empty field that they were peeling out in was where the old place that burned down just a few years before was. I think it was the Dayton station or something. I was about 10 years old when all of this happened and happened to be running around with a camera. I captured the whole thing with my 10 year old view. I'll see if I can find those pics.

I heard Clint Eastwood has this exact car in his car collection. Not the same car but one just like it they were very rare 1937 Lincoln model K seven passenger convertibles. My dad had an enclosed seven passenger limousine just like this that he bought off of a funeral home back in the mid 50s. He paid $200 for it. These model K Lincolns all had V12 motors.

Pretty sure in real life the bumper on that car would have come off instead of pulling off the jail bars. Btw, why would a small town like that have so many people being locked up? They are pouring out of that jail lol

Not so fast! There are a number of fine points in Eastwood flics that deserve study and conclusions. In some films, Westerns/Dirty H. mysoginistic pov (including rape and the female discovering her womanhood at the dick-end of an Eastwood character). In others, again, some Western and some D.Harry, racism -complete with caricatures of the Black perp being outsmarted by the White protagonist. No N-word is heard but otherwise acceptable facsimilies are used liberally. Could the scene have played out as well without resorting to such vulgarities? Only time and reasoned discussion will tell. My $ is on mysoginist and racist winning out over concerned citizen and historical accuracy in the spoken dialogue. Why? Eastwood can only veer away from his true self by a bit but then must pilot back to his real level of comfort. Someone please correct me and point out Eastwood’s unassailable liberal record.
