I went to see this with my mom, dad and big sis in 92. It’s a special memory now. My mom and sis were singularly unimpressed, while myself and my dad agreed that we had probably just seen the greatest film ever made. Many years down the line, and I still watch it occasionally, I cast my eyes heavenwards, and say- we were right pop. The greatest film ever made.

I was about the same age. Saw it in the theatre. In my estimate, that was the last Western ever made. This is probably how it was. No good guys, no bad guys. No scripted quick draw at high noon. The saloon girls weren't cover models, and everything was dirty, gritty, and bleak.

To me anyone who rides a horse is a cowboy! Not many horses around my neighborhood today used to be when I was a kid I had a friend whos parents had four horses cats dogs etc. that was in the seventies O caring for the animals is part of cowboys work when's the last time you road a horses or even put a bridle in it's mouth try dat! Saddle it shoe it probably none!

i met him once as a kid it was my little brother's birthday, i was barely old enough to recognize who Clint was. It was at his restaurant in i think Carmel California, and he was fraternizing with the people coming to the restaurant. Eastwoods easy going 'hit your marks and say your lines' style of directing brings out the best in a lot of actors. The look on the faces of Will's kids when Dad tells the son he and his sister will be alone out there for a couple of weeks was priceless.

@@motionattached Once upon a time in the west has never really grabbed me. There is a forgotten movie these days from the 1950s which is excellent - Shane. I watch it at least once a year! Another little known but good western is Culpepper Cattle Company. Saw it once in the 1970s.

Not really, lil bill is an asshole but he was reasonable and didn't hurt innocents. Munny was just a bad guy through and through. He tried to redeem himself but failed utterly

Pretty good clipping. I do wish you would have kept the entire part of the monolog finishing the part about killing a man, and the subsequent part where he says 'we all have it comin'. This isn't just my favorite western, but my favorite movie. Personally I consider it a perfect movie.
