Ooh! The option to make it a mullet is so attractive for us short legged folks! Looks awesome.

I'm still riding the V1 I bought in 2018. Its so much better of a bike than I am a rider that I don't think I'll ever need another enduro bike. I would love to ride one of the new ones though...

Recent Fox forks seem to take quite a few rides to break in. Had to run about 50% of recommended pressure to get usable amount of travel and sag until 300+ miles then the fork became much more compliant - now using recommended pressures. Less break in needed for shock.

This is the bike I'd take on a long trip when terrains and conditions are different every day and it's just not practical to load multiple bikes… one day they will use the down tube internal storage as a compartment for an optional small battery that activates a lightweight motor hidden somewhere in the bottom bracket… the hybrid (analog-electrical) bike is coming😁

Why wouldn’t you design more rear tire clearance when redesigning the frame? 🤷♂️
@bitumen83Ай бұрын
Exactly. I think Transition failed there badly.

@@bitumen83 was some weird crap with the Smuggler too
@mrvwbug4423Ай бұрын
They don't want to remove material from the rear triangle and don't want to go to super boost. Transitions have really beefy frames but they've also chosen to stay with regular boost spacing for better wheel/hub availability.

I currently ride a Ripley and love it. When I do look to eventually get a bigger bike I’m in between the Sentinel or the Ibis Ripmo. Which one would be the better “all arounder” you think?

I was surprised at how long it is, they really went long on the chainstays. In size L it's almost 20mm longer in wheelbase than my 2023 RM Altitude which is a full on enduro bike (160/170 travel) and that's with my Altitude set up full slack with the chainstays in the long position. Reach is the same as the Spire and the Spire is only slightly longer than the V3 Sentinel. I wonder if the Sentinel hides it's size as well as the Spire does? I demoed a Spire this summer and it flat out felt smaller and more nimble than it's wheelbase and geo numbers would suggest, it's geo and kinematics also very much encourage you to REALLY send it. I was expecting a bike that size with a 62.5 HTA to feel like a barge but it doesn't (for comparison the Specialized Enduro truly does feel like a barge, probably due to its super low stack)
@DM-hw4crАй бұрын
Chainstay space that doesn't fit more than a 2.4 tire? What were they thinking. I'll stick with my V2 until they fix that flaw.

Torn between this and the smuggler. I’m in southern Utah and not hitting anything huge. For one bike I’m leaning smuggler, what are your thoughts?
@ClintGibbsАй бұрын
Unless you are a big jump and gravity junkie, I think for one bike the smuggler is fine and would be the best choice.

I have a V2 which replaced my V1. I have loved both. I just got back from Whistler where the V2 got it done a bit better and faster than the V1 has in the past. Is the V3 for me? Worth replacing the V2 with?
@ClintGibbsАй бұрын
If you are doing shuttle days the V2 is just fine
@mrvwbug4423Ай бұрын
The V2 would definitely fare better in Whistler and similar environs. And even that is quite underbiked for Whistler bike park.

Any issues with pedal strike? Had problems on my Spur with pedal strike.
@ClintGibbsАй бұрын
Actually no and I will probably mention that in a long-term review. The bottom bracket drop is less on this bike, and the crank arms are 165, so I don’t remember any pedal strikes on this bike which is amazing because I was climbing some pretty steep rooty climbs.
@mountainbikingfortherestofusАй бұрын
@@ClintGibbs Did you also have an issue with pedal strike on the Spur? By the way. Thanks for the videos, always helpful and enjoyable. 🙂

Yes, that is the only downside to the spur. But the low center of gravity makes it handle so well!

5’8”
@mrvwbug4423Ай бұрын
What is your preferred reach number? I'm also 5'10" and my happy place on reach is in that 470-480mm range, the Sentinel V3 is 480 in size large. My RM Altitude is 474 in size L so still in my preferred range, my previous Ibis Ripmo was 475 in size L.
@ClintGibbsАй бұрын
@@mrvwbug4423 the medium sentinel fits me really well. I don’t really look for an exact reach number because it varies depending on the seat tube angle, top tune length and stem length, in terms of true reach to the bars. One bike might have a higher reach number but a shorter reach to the bars because of the seat tube angle.
@chingerzz123123123Ай бұрын
I'd disagree and say that the sentinel is very much alive and fun on flatter trails.
@ClintGibbsАй бұрын
Yes, it’s definitely fun. But I have more fun on a lighter bike on flatter trails because of the acceleration.
