For me Bic is always better. Sure u can change parts on a clipper and refill them, but most lighters start to not light on the first try after a while. Bic on the other hand always lights on the first try. I cant say anything about cricket, never used them.

In the US bics are going for about $2 in todays economy, about a $1.40 each in two packs, clippers are anywhere from $1-$1.50 for singles, and crickets are like .50¢ ea but come in two packs. Quality wise they stack up like this: Bic > clipper > cricket Functionality wise it goes Clipper > bic > cricket Clippers will always be the best actual edc lighter for smokers when it comes to functionality but there’s something to be said about the bulletproof quality of a bic. You can bury it in your yard for 6 years, drop it in a lake, run it over with your car, and once it’s dry ittl still work like new. They are incredibly tough for being a $2 or less lighter. That’s why they aren’t refillable or reflintable- because if they were they’d last 30+ years..:

When I was a cigarette smoker I always carried a Zippo. But they are not great at lasting long when pipe smoking. I've used Bic lighters for years and I think they suck. Inconsistent flame heights plus if you have been cleaning pot the resins on you fingers make the flint wheel tough to operate. The Clipper works great! I have purchased several clippers to keep on hand and I'm glad I never have to use those crappie Bics again!

I am in Canada use bic or Scripto. I saw a clipper I think they wanted like 5 bucks for it. 7 Scripto are 4.48 5 of the big bics are 4.48. Cost for fuel 8 dollars for 2 oz. What is cheaper? How long will the clipper last on one flint?

I will answer you, I have a clipper from the 70s and it has a gas regulator (something that the current ones do not have anymore), I will not deny that the years are noticeable and I no longer use it (now I have another clipper) but the clipper from the 70s still works, if I no longer use it it is because I am tired of always having the same one, all you have to do is buy a bottle of butane and flint. The downside is that, as I have already said, always having the same lighter for years is boring.

As much as I want to love Clipper, it always comes down to the comfort and reliability of the spark wheel. Bic remains smooth without jamming and always gives the same flame 1 - 2 flickers. Using a Clipper my thumb becomes “RAW” (no pun intended) after a couple weeks of usage. Aside from that the Clipper is great in every other aspect.

Seriously? You do know it takes 30 seconds to switch wheels right? That’s the whole point of a Clipper! You can modify it easily and fast. Use a mini Bic wheel and pinch it a tad to keep the pins in well or a crack lighter wheel without the two child safety disks. The pins are longer. Use an unused side of a bic flint and cut the coil a couple of mm. It lights every single time effortlessly. Way better than a bic and never will it cause tough skin. Try it trust me and thank me later.

Saul Garcia clipper makes a wick lighter just like a zippo but clipper shape and the fuel won't evaporate as fast. Wayne is right about the peanut lighter, I have a couple and haven't noticed evaporation over many months of having them stored away. It lit first strike after leaving the peanut lighter in a drawer for probably 10 months or more

The poke in a clipper isn't a poke, you can unscrew the bottom to pull out the spring holding up the flint, makes putting new flints in easier. And you can pull the spark wheel out easily for whatever reason, haven't seen replacements.

@@Kai-pr9mp It doesn’t work that way. I can tell you have never taken apart a Bic to each individual piece and put it together. If I asked you to describe in 10 minutes exactly how the fixed valve on a Bic works you wouldn’t have enough time to google and use the correct descriptions. I professionally fix lighters and torches and Bics are a fixed flame. I don’t “think” they do because I think it looks bigger, I in fact know first hand how they are manufactured and have 5 years experience taking thousands apart. Try turning a Bic sideways by itself and see how long you thump lasts. Clippers do and thats why you can leave it sideways longer because it gets bigger and the flame is drawn more straight out then directly up to your finger. There is nothing to make a Bic suddenly get bigger by turning it sideways. Nor is turning a non fixed valve to make it bigger. I only speak on things I know or knew to be true by first hand sources so I am rarely wrong. Speak on things you think you know without confirmation or education and you will be wrong most of the time. Those people will argue none stop to keep their ego. I’m confident and could careless if im wrong. I learn and move on. Try taking a bic apart and explain exactly how your theory works. There’s only a pinhole for gas and nothing is going to make it magically get bigger by tilting it. Only clippers are made to do that because it’s originally made as a pipe lighter. Electronic rectangle clippers if taken apart have a secret white wheel with notches that actually has an official adjustable wheel but almost no one knows about it. I ran up on it while using a light to check the butane and saw a white wheel. Theres only one reason for it so I tried it and it worked just like all torches have a brass ring governor to fix how big a flame can get unless taken off or turned past specs. Bic flames bend, but do not hiss butane like a clipper when turned and the flame gets 2 or 3 times bigger. It’s physically made to do this. Bic is not. Its not physically possible.

I have a few zippos, but I never use them because I'm afraid of losing them, or by the time I remember I filled the fuckin thing and go to use it, it's evaporated already. I get maybe a day's use out of a zippo fill for that reason. Being able to refill and reflint is why I use clippers.

For me Zippo is the overall best lighter but for these three it’s a toss up between clipper and Bic. I love the designs on clipper and Bic and they use isobutane. I like the designs better on Bic however clipper being able to change the flint and it’s refillable is a huge thumbs up for me. Clipper and Cricket are hard to find though and I find Bic at every store, but I have found a few clippers but no cricket. But what I have heard about cricket they aren’t very good. I originally voted for Bic but Clipper is really beginning to impress me.
