I tried/try to tell people that the end goal for ALL barbers should be to work up to cutting with detachable blade clippers for ALL cuts. We were given Andis Masters in Barber school back in 2008, I love my Masters- but I started and stuck w Andis BGRC w ALL standard blades from day 1 at school then moved over to Oster 76 up til now. Different brand, but same predictable/exceptional results. BTW, you should've seen the looks I was getting from everyone who went out and bought those "Kiddie" clippers from W***.

Thank you for explaining the benefits of blades,I currently use the andis blades.I wAnted to know what length is the 3 3/4 compared to the guards and 3 1/2, 1A,is that a 1 and the 0a is that half and inch?

Hi Cindy, I too use blades. Love them! The 3 3/4 I believe and have done some research about is compared to a 4 plastic guard. The 3 1/2 is equivalent to 3 plastic guard. The 1A is equivalent to a 1 plastic and the 0A is equivalent to a Wahl clipper with the lever open - also known as a 1/2. The lever closed also known as a 0 is equivalent to a 000. Happy cutting!

@@henrypolo2597 nah, the OA is ur clipper closed, 1 is ur clipper open, 1A is a quarter more, 1 1/2 is a 1 guard clipper closed, 2 is a 1 guard open, 2 3/4 is a 2 guard, 3 1/2 and 3 3/4 are ur ridge perimeter blades....they make the shit confusing on purpose I'm starting to think, less barbers to compete with smh....the misinformation is endless..

if for example if a customer wants a #4 wahl guard... i suppose you will no longer use a Detachble blade clipper anymore?

Doesn’t the Wahl 1919 100th Anniversary cordless clipper have a rotary motor as well? Just wondering, cause you said you don’t like to use rotary clippers for tops/flat tops. I would’ve thought you’d then go to something (most likely corded) with an electromagnetic motor.

Gotchya, so the cuts (slices) per minute is higher. You’re right in that sense, I think the SPM on the 1919 is something like 7,600-7,900, where the others are generally in the 5,000 range or lower.

I use a 0.2mm for my head and a 16mm for my beard. Oster clippers with detachable blades. I also use a Andis foil electric razer to go over bald head. I haven't paid for a haircut in 20+ years

When I ask for 000 fade, the oster blades seem shorter, and my fade lasts longer. I started going to younger barbers, and they all use plastic gaurds. My fade doesn't seem to last as long. Is it just me? lol
