Wow really brings back memories of my very first code 3 call while working at LAPD Los Angeles Police Department , Devonshire devision 17A79 December 1989, my first time driving as a probationary officer. Code 3 to a grocery store in Granada Hills for a 459 hot prowl haha 😄 driving a brand new 1989 Chevy Caprice. Wow, so long ago, but I remember that first code 3 call like it was yesterday! Great video. Thanks for the awesome memories 😀 😊❤

I wonder why lapd doesn’t use push bars

Traffic units have them, no real reason to have then on regular patrol units

@@minibinwaredisposaldude5641traffic units with their push bumpers can handle that. Also not many safe areas to PIT in a crowded city; I would assume the push bumpers get more use in pushing disabled vehicles. I’m a fan of them on all cars myself though

An LAPD sergeant from Wilshire Division told me on a ride along last summer that all lapd vehicles assigned to patrol used to have push bars all the way up until the late 1980s and then people started to say that they “looked threatening” and “looked scary” and so on and so forth, so they took them off of all the regular patrol assigned vehicles and now only have them on traffic units.
